Finally someone has introduces a REAL immigration bill, a bill the American people want. And you have to love the name of the bill also.
dubbed the Optimizing Visa Entry Rules and Demanding Uniformed Enforcement (OVERDUE) bill
What a great name for a bill that the American people deserve.
Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) on Wednesday announced plans to introduce legislation that would overhaul the U.S. immigration system by placing tighter restrictions on legal immigration and increasing pressure on illegal immigrants currently in the country to leave.
Of course he will be called a racist for bringing forth such legislation. He must be a bigot, right? He couldn’t possibly be doing this because it is right for America.
“Throughout the immigration debate, out of touch amnesty-only critics of enforcement have tried to hide behind their cry of ‘what is your solution?’ Well this week we will show them and the president what immigration reform should look like and
Since this week will probably be rather slow in the news world, I thought I'd take a minute to go over my take on Immigration Reform. Below are my easy steps for success.1) Secure the border by building a wall. All 700+ miles.2) Hire additional border agents, give them firearms and allow them to use them without fear or prosecution. Let them do their jobs.3) Encourage illegal aliens to register with the government. Also impose the active pursuit of nationalization. Failure to comply results in immediate deportation. This is the most difficult of issues to tackle. I am in no way for amnesty, however, how feasible is it to think we can round up 12-20 million illegal aliens and deport them? If we require them to register and set strict sanctions on them, we will still greatly decrease that number. Also, by enforcing registration we can also form a paper trail and allow a case by case evaluation.4) Require any illegal alien that will not comply with registr

Immigration Reform, Act II......... This bill and the showdown which continued after several days of amendments, finally ended. Democrats among the strongest supporters of the bill came to understand that it could not survive. Despite the force of pressure groups/interest groups, lobbyists--you name it, the bill said to be written in backroom negotiations by a small group of Democrats and Republicans took its final breath. Passage was blocked; and immigration reform is for now...... dead. What will be the political fallout? While no visible tears were shown by supporters of President Bush's plan to legalize millions of undocumented immigrants, the pain was apparent. The bill fell short of the sixty votes needed to limit the debate which would have cleared the way for final passage of the legislation. Criticized harshly that it would provide amnesty for illegals, it now appears there are no chances for a second act--until possibly after the elections in 2008. Prior to the final drum bea
New Hampshire Senator John Sununu appeared on the Howie Carr show today.
Sen. Sununu is up for re-election in ‘08, and his seat is considered one of the most vulnerable by Democrat officials. Although, he feels pretty confident that New Hampshire will return Republicans back to state government now that New Hampshire is becoming a nanny state and voters may becoming discontent. If that is true it could help him win re-election.
Here is the audio.
Today the Senate voted for cloture on the immigration reform bill, ending the debate and sending the bill to the floor for a vote. Here there will be several amendments voted on that may still work to kill this God-awful piece of legislation.
Here is a list of all the senators who are selling our country out. First the Democrats:
Daniel Akaka, Joseph Biden, Jeff Bingaman, Barbara Boxer, Sherrod Brown, Maria Cantwell, Ben Cardin, Thomas Carper, Bob Casey, Hillary Clinton, Kent Conrad, Christopher Dodd, Dick Durbin, Russell Feingold, Dianne Feinstein, Tom Harkin, Daniel Inouye, Edward Kennedy, John Kerry, Amy Klobuchar, Herb Kohl, Frank Lautenberg, Patrick Leahy, Carl Levin, Blanche Lincoln, Robert Menéndez, Barbara Mikulski, Patty Murray, Ben Nelson, Bill Nelson, Barack Obama, Mark Pryor, Jack Reed, Harry Reid, Kenneth Salazar, Chuck Schumer, Jim Webb, Sheldon Whitehouse, Ron Wyden
Not suprising that only nine Democrats voted against cloture, after all this is who the Democrats are cou
A couple years ago this darling little neighborhood girl, only six years old, died of leukemia. I went to the funeral. Other than getting all potty mouth with unwelcome doorstep missionaries on Christmas Day, I have not had a lot of contact with Jehovah Witnesses. But nonetheless I went down to the Kingdom Hall.Wow was it depressing, not that most funerals are a rave. But one after one of these guys in dark suits got up and suggested my little friend wasn't gonna make it to heaven. It wasn't cos of the crazy purgatory thing like my own Church has preached about for so long. No it seems heaven is a pretty crowded place.According to these guys there is only room for a few souls. I later looked into this and it seems Jesus is only able to accommodate about 140,000 folks. So these guys didn't really think there was much likelihood there would be room for this sweet little girl.It seems America is just like Heaven:The psycho there is presidential candidate Tom Tancredo. Man, this cockroach just won't die. This issue seems simple to me (either that or I'm just simple); All anybody has to do to gain 80% public support is employ the border security measures FIRST. Then, in a couple of years, Americans will consider everything else. Geeez.
The immigration bill is officially dead (free registration required). In my view, this is a bad thing. While this bill was far from perfect, so much of America wants a change in immigration policy. It is a shame to deny them an overhaul. I sincerely hope the entire issue isn’t off the table; Americans deserve reform.
A vote of no-confidence against embattled Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is scheduled to move forward in the Senate on Monday. If the symbolic measure, stating that Gonzales “no longer holds the confidence of the Senate and the American people,” passes this procedural hurdle it will be brought for a full vote shortly. If the no-confidence vote is scheduled, some think Gonzales will resign before the voting actually takes place.

Thank God if this is true. This bill would have had disastrous results if passed. I still can’t understand what the president was thinking. Anytime you are on the same side as Ted Kennedy you are in trouble. He must be trying to forge his legacy, but what kind of legacy would this have given him? He has done nothing with this bill but drive away most of the remaining supporters he had. Futher driving away his supporters was this:
“His comments last week were not helpful,” Lott added, alluding to Bush’s remark - repeated twice last week - that those who deride the bill as amnesty are trying to frighten Americans.
President Bush has been leading a legitimate and noble war on terror, but then we leave the borders open and allow anyone to walk into this country?
Mitt Romney was right at the debate last Tuesday, we don’t need new immigration laws, we just need to enforce the laws we already have and the public agrees.
A FOX News poll finds that Americans think
The simple fact is that any Comprehensive immigration bill will be trashed by a certain percentage of the voting population. And the reason for that is rather simple: We do not trust the Democrats or the Bush administration to enforce any security measures at the border. Both groups have shown their unwillingness to enforce the laws already in place. Both groups have lied to us time and again. The bill they are trying to get passed is a sham. It is nothing but a big lie to get people to think they will control border security when they will not. Every single workplace raid we have seen for the last few years has been nothing more than a show to make people thing the Bush administration is serious about border control. The administration is prosecuting and imprisoning Border Patrol agenst that do their job. The Inspector General for the Border Patrol has been caught lying time and again and yet nothing is done about it. Prosecutor Johnny Sutton lied to the judge and jury in the tria
It looks as though debate on the immigration reform bill will be put on hold until June. I think this is good news, there had to be a reason they were fast tracking this through before people could see what was in it.
It’s good to see cooler heads may have prevailed and there will be more time to examine what is actually in this bill.
This bill has drawn criticism on both sides of the isle for many different reasons and there needs to be time to examine it.
“It would be to the best interests of the Senate … that we not try to finish this bill this week,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid D-Nev., as the chamber began debate on the volatile issue. “I think we could, but I’m afraid the conclusion wouldn’t be anything that anyone wanted.”
This is the first thing I have ever heard Harry Reid say that I agree with. Although the reasons he doesn’t agree with the bill are different than the reasons I don’t like the bill:

I haven't been politically incorrect on here for a while, actually I amlong overdue. So here is my vent for the day. I have been followingthis illegal alien amnesty that is about to be given to about 12 millionillegals. Those 12 million or so basically will be legalized. I am allabout immigration. My ancestors were immigrants, heck, myhusband is an immigrant. But each and every one of them came intothis country by the book, did all the applications and paperwork bythe book, were granted all visas and documents by the book....anddoing it by the book, my friends, is NOT cheap either. Furthermore,it is VERY time consuming. It took almost 2 years for my husbandto get his work permit, another 2 to get his green card, and in this4 year period we had to travel a minimum of 2 hours several timesa year to do fingerprinting, picture taking, and more...all at consi-derable expense. And folks who skirt the law, do as they please, acquire fake documents, cards, and social security numbers, andmore

Congress is moving closer to passing a comprehensive immigration reform bill (free registration required). The bill, in its current form, represents compromises on all sides including a guest worker program, a 370 mile border fence, and a limited form of amnesty for current illegal immigrants. This bill is sure to stir up a lot of debate, what do you think of it?

Today Duncan Hunter appeared on Howie Carr’s radio show. Howie Carr is a Boston conservative radio host. He deals with issues local to Boston as well as national issues.
He has issued invitations to all candidates running for president to appear on the show when they are in New Hampshire. To date most of the Republican candidates have been on several times. All Democrats have declined the invitation so far.
Here is a link to the audio of the conversation that they had on May 18th.
It looks like that happy day is coming when Lou Dobbs is going to have to close down the illegal immigration show. And what is O'Reilly going to do, if he can't highlight the illegal immigrant horrid crime of the day?Even though the Visigoths continue to storm the Republic, the politicians seems to have come up with a reasonable solution. Although it will not satisfy those who wish to ship all the illegals back in railroad boxcars, after they serve ten years hard time in the Sheriff of Maricopa County's tent city jail, it looks workable. It is not often I see something halfway rational coming out of Washington. So like with all miracles, we should pause for a moment in wonder. And even though everything George Bush has ever endorsed has turned out to be an unmitigated disaster, on this one I am willing to go along. The plan calls for erecting some more fences along the border. This is an attempt to appease Dobbs and the vestiges of the Know-Nothing Party, which never has totally disap

But I'm glad to be back here in Yuma.Thank you so very much for your hospitality. Thanks for your service to the country. Meaningful immigration reform has nothing to do with departmental changes that may be necessary in a time of crisis such as 9/11/2001 and creating the Department of Homeland Security. If we have able, competent and intelligent leadership in these areas, departmental confusion will end at some future time. After all, we were attacked and change is often a slow and painful process. As far as immigration reform is concerned, the first thing we need to do is create a government program to hire legitimate citizens that are unemployed and get busy rounding up every illegal immigrant in our country.Amnesty and guest worker programs at this point in time would be a recipe for disaster. What you are invariably doing is sanctioning a criminal activity. No reforms should be discussed until our current laws are enforced, our borders secure and these people are out of our country. Then and only then should we re-examine our immigration policies. This action needs to be taken for
When will the politicians wake up? In answer to that question, they do wake up; think 9/11. But no sooner do they awaken to something, they and the public with the assistance of the “we know everything” MsMEDIA allow themselves to be lulled back into slumber. No one was really that awake in 1986 when the Ronald Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (italics mine), which allowed for the amnesty of approximately 2.7 million illegal immigrants. Passage of the act criminalized businesses with fines if they knowingly hired an illegal, auditing of I-9 forms and stepped up border enforcement and. The amnesty granted reached back to illegal immigrants in the country since roughly 1982. Fast forward 10 years and our government found it necessary to pass the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996. Two pieces of this legislation were authorization for the increase in border patrol agents and the barring of permanent residence to
Many voters who scorned Republicans over immigration reacted as you would expect them to after being mocked and exploited by a party that elevated the issue into an urgent crisis and then offered nothing to solve it but faux hearings, strident campaign ads and a pretend fence.
