A man who auctioned his childhood imaginary friend on ebay, as he had grown out of him has been forced to take him back. The person who had bought the imaginary friend for £40.00 + P&P, had complained to ebay saying that due to irreconcilable differences they could no longer live with it. When asked for the reasons behind such a change of mind the new owner had stated that the previous owner hadn’t explained properly the eating habits of the imaginary friend. By all accounts the childhood friend had a habit of eating with its hands and wiping them on the nearest available curtains or soft furnishings. The question has to be asked how does one mail an imaginary friend in the post?
The new Imaginary Foundation Spring/Summer line is out and is absolutely fabulous! The new designs inspired by philosophy, beauty, science, nature, life, are your typical Imaginary Foundation surreal psychedelic creations. Always powerful images that take your thought away... My favorite design is probably "Page Turn" (women click here) an excellent design that starts from the back with the image of a turning page which reveals a tornado of splashing paint wrapping around to the front of the shirt.
“Don’t take my patience, my reserves are exhausted. Don’t take my patience for granted.” The narrator has a lot on his mind, and buries his rambling thoughts and meanderings of how social lies and disease get spread. And it’s all happening in the mix of a slow dance beat surrounded by drums, bass and guitars whirling around his story. “From the high-dive to the gutter grate they’re spreading fear.” Imaginary Johnny

Ahoy there, loyal binky readers. As part of today's guest blogging, I'm throwing in a quick update on Sarah's travels. She and Amos made it to Texas with only a modicum of air-travel-related stress. Being in the remote hinterlands of Texas, she's currently without Internet access, so as you've no doubt noticed, no imaginary binky blogs have been forthcoming for a few days. Rest assured, she and Amos are fine, and the binky blogs will be rolling again soon. Thanks for your support.-Phil
Okay, so after debating whether or not to go to The Blogger Party on Saturday night, then going and discovering no one I knew, I decided to create an imaginary blogger party of my own. This is what my guest list would look like. (In no particular order) *KaB - I picture her sitting at the table, tiara nestled in her flowing locks, tall drink in hand. She will be talking a-mile-a-minute. After a few drinks she will leap on the table and sing raucously. She will claim to be the driver of this-here funbus, too.*Peas on Toast: chugging on a good ol glass of vino. If she brought her wagon-wheels along and is abstaining, she will bring her knitting too. She will knit willy warmers for all the men at the party.*Miss M: I picture her sitting neatly with her legs crossed, wearing a black pencil ski

Imaginary Foundation released four new t-shirts just yesterday. What can you really say about them? As always I'm visually impressed and enchanted. My favorite one is "Sustainable Future" which bears the phrase "Look darling a sustainable future".
I was lying on my bed, trembling and shaking. Too many thoughts raged in my mind that I couldn't explain nor express it in words. Disappointed, angry, hurt, sad, not sure what other words could describe my feeling... I just stared my bedroom's ceiling. It was 2.30 AM, the night still so dark and quiet. All I could hear were my hubby snored softly in his peaceful dream, and my son Cliff's breath in his rest."Why do you still think about it, My Child? You better rest to recharge your energy." suddenly my Big Daddy appeared by my side. His voice is so soft and calm, comforting my miserable heart. He smiled and stared at me, waiting for my answer patiently. I knew He payed all His attention to me, just for me."Many things had happened today, Big Daddy... I can't tell you all in order, I feel so... aaaahh.. I don't know what to say..." I whispered softly as I didn't want to wake my hubby and Cliff."Well it's okay, you can count on Me, I am here to hear anything you want to say and I

One might think that a little girl who is the oldest of four would have no need for imaginary friends.
But oh, gentle Velveteen readers, one would be wrong.
I didn’t have just one imaginary friend, I had many. And actually, they weren’t so much imaginary friends as they were an imaginary audience. They like to sit and listen while I narrated my day to them. As I got older, they would follow me around while I went on walks or rode my bike or did household chores. I would explain to them, step-by-step, exactly how to get the mirror in the bathroom sparkling clean. They hung on my every word because that is a very fascinating subject, and I have a very fascinating way of explaining things.
And now I am going to tell you something that I feel terribly embarrassed and awkward and clunky talking to my friends and family about, and yet somehow feel completely comfortable revealing now to a roomful of strangers . . . I still ha
Tonight is the third part in a trilogy of South Park episodes involving terrorists and our imagination. The whole point behind the main plot line, I think, is that now we as Americans are more afraid of what we imagine could happen than is likely to happen.Terrorists have physically terrorized us. And now they're in our imagination, terrorizing us at the mental level. We could nab all the terrorists in the world, but if we still lived in fear, the War on Terror would never end.South Park depicted some terrorists entering our imagination and blowing up a wall that separated good thoughts from bad ones. All the bad guys from every movie ever are now mingling in the collective imagination with our dearest Disney friends.I think what the creators behind South Park are doing is warning us that if we rely too heavily on "what ifs," we could dig ourselves a hole that only a major war could get us out of. Indeed, these are dangerous times, in both the physical and mental realms.
Yes, I finally have a three-day weekend right before a four-day weekend.
But that has two days of classes in between.
So much for maximized productivity.
I still have to go to school on Tuesday and Wednesday!!!
Noooo!
Then again, I should remember that there are other kids who'd die to just to have the opportunity for a below mediocre education.

Ever thought of a test that you haven't executed? Ever wonder if it might be valuable to add a use case, test case, or test charter? Ever feel like you spend more time talking about how to solve problems than it would take to try some of the proposed solutions?I've been involved in discussions about software bugs that take more time than it would take to fix and retest. I understand that it is important to consider the risks associated with a bug and any proposed solutions. However, some times we just need to do it.I've been in test planning meetings that take more time than it would take to execute the proposed tests. I've also wasted time performing unnecessary tests. The problem is that the usefulness of a test is usually not known until we have the results from that test. When it makes sense, stop hypothesizing and start testing.Imaginary testing is unreliable.

Imagine that you are a principal investigator, or the director of a research center (well, some of you may already be, or will be in the future?).
And you have infinite funding and contacts, so that getting the money and the right staff is not a problem (yes, this is definitely fiction).

"Imaginary Flower #7"Completed: 9/8/07crayon on paper7" x 5" This is my last flower in this series. I actually had a little trouble deciding where I wanted the angle to come from. There are several light drawings underneath this in which I tried to decide with angle to use. I finally setlled on this one, and I also decided to make it a little different than the rest. I did not use black in this picture like I did in the other ones. This series was interesting and fun for me to do and I definitely will work with crayons in the future. Shannon This drawing is $35.00 (Shipping and sales tax included). The reason I decided to use crayons for this series is because it seems like an underused medium in the visual arts past elementary school. I was reading "Artist's Magazine" and found an artist named Jeffrey Robert who is a wonderful crayon artist who creates realistic artworks with this medium. I found it fascinating that such high quality artwork could come from crayons. The style I used
"Imaginary Flower #6"Completed: 9/7/07crayon on paper7" x 5" When I knew I was nearing the end of the week, I decided to look at my collection so far. I had tried different color combinations, placement of shapes, and lights and darks. I realized I wanted to get the most out of this before the collection ended, so I decided to try a different kind of angle. Most of the flowers I drew so far were from a straight on angle looking into the flower. So, for this one I tried to create the view from peeking over the flower's side. I did not have reference photo, so this was a little unusual for me, but this one has turned into my favorite of the collection so far. Stay tuned-one more imaginary flower tomorrow and next week starts a new medium and style of flowers! Shannon This drawing is $35.00 (Shipping and sales tax included).
"Imaginary Flower #5"Completed: 9/6/07crayon on paper7" x 5" I decided to go with a cooler color scheme with this one. (Although, I couldn't avoid that bright yellow!) You will probably see the color combination of blues and yellows together more than enough, because it's one of my favorite color combinations. I have two more flowers for this week's collection, then it's on to a new medium, but with the same subject! Keep on checking back! Shannon This drawing is $35.00 (Shipping and sales tax included).
"Imaginary Flower #3"Completed: 9/4/07crayon on paper7" x 5" Another imagined flower to add to the collection. As soon as I started this collection, I knew I would not have trouble coming up with an idea each day. And as fun as this collection is for me, I am almost midway through the week, which means I need to start thinking of next week's style and medium. I am extremely happy I started this blog, because being able to create everyday is becoming essential to me. I hope to add to this blog to hold many different styles and mediums to show the different sides of art. Back to coloring!ShannonThis drawing is $35.00 (Shipping and sales tax included).
First time posting, i am galvo, or gabo whatever you prefer! all you cats got such fresh ideas, i love feeding off of them like an overweight suburban momma... onto the ARTE.I've known a few kids who went to private school, but totally didnt have the money for all the luxuries you would imagine private school children would have... so that got me thinking... poor private school kids need servants too right?Remember back in the day when videogames and the interent didnt govern our lives? Back in the day when a box was the coolest thing you could ever find to play space ranger?

I'm finding myself tearing up a bit this morning, having read the news that one of the posters on the snopes message boards has died after a long struggle with cancer. It's news we knew was coming, but that knowledge doesn't make it any less painful when it does come. His name was Dan, but I knew him as mgbdriver, one of the many snopesters whose names I've come to know and admire. I've never met him, we didn't exchange private messages, but he was one of the posters I would look out for because you always knew it would be something worth reading. Even though the internet is becoming increasingly widely used, to the point where one tends to be surprised that some people still don't have access, I don't think the nature of the communities and the ties that are built up are fully understood. If I told some of the people I know IRL that I was feeling upset because a guy I've never met or spoken to had died they would look at me in a very strange way. But snopes really is a co
I just read an article called The Buddy List: The Fifteen Most Dynamic Duos in Pop Culture History.I have to admit to being pleased to see Vladimir and Estragon there (albeit at #6). There were some glaring omissions, Batman and Robin was the first that jumped to my mind but, on checking the criteria the compilers imposed upon themselves, I could see why they weren't there. I was less convinced that Mulder and Scully should be excluded because they wound up as a couple but what the heck.I was also sorry to see George and Lenny from Of Mice and Men were not on the list. You couldn't call Lenny a sidekick but they’re definitely not on an equal footing. Of course I became aware of the notion of George and Lenny long before I read the book. The pairing of the big dumb bloke with the little street-wise guy was a regular feature in the American cartoons I watched as a child and perhaps it is there that the origins of my own literary creations dates back. What puzzles me more is that basic

Last week, child killer Theunis Olivier told the Cape High Court in South Africa that he had had a feeling "something bad was going to happen" a few days before he first sodomized and then killed six-year-old Steven Siebert (by strangling the boy with a telephone cord). This was less than five years after Olivier had been released as a state psychiatric patient in Zimbabwe (having served only four months) after he was convicted on a charge of rape and seven charges of indecent assault. He also told the court he had wanted to leave Plettenberg Bay (where the deed was done), but his invisible friend had told him to stay:
He decided that he should leave Plettenberg Bay and go to Mossel Bay. But his "second self", whom he called Theo, wanted to remain in Plettenberg Bay for Christmas of 2005. He said Theo was his (imaginary) friend.
"Unfortunately, I listened to him and we stayed," he said.
Olivier was abused himself as a child, but that's no excuse:
He was the second youngest of nine

When my nephew Joel was six, his best friend was Al Kopotus. I assumed the boy was Greek. Turns out, he was from the Land of Nod. Al was Joel's imaginary friend. One Sunday, as my sister sat with the sleepy congregation, Joel suddenly rose from the pew and asked the preacher if he would pray for his friend. Al, Joel told the solemn worshipers, had fallen from a Ferris wheel at the State Fair, and had died. The congregation shed a collective tear as the preacher led his flock in prayer. Mortified, my sister bowed her head. Joel found closure.

Most of you, t-shirt freaks, probably are familiar with Imaginary Foundation t-shirts but, what the heck, I'll review them anyway... So Imaginary Foundation comes from Switzerland (which is not surprising at all) and consists of a group of thinkers who do "experimental research on new ways of thinking and the power of the imagination". The head of the team is the mysterious "Director" who's father founded the Dadaist movement. In case you're so dump asses and don't know anything about the Dada movement go and do some research you @#$%@#&@!!! The rest of you who have an idea I'm pretty sure you'll find the immediate connections between the movement and these surrealistic designs. The team uses the t-shirts as a medium to bring their ideas in the pop culture. Judging by the popularity of those t-shirts I'd say they've succeeded! Sure they're not the cheapest you'll find (~$30) but hey, there're other more expensive around and these t-shirts are true pieces of art.
The Atheist Revolution posted an article that articulates an idea that has been on my mind for a while. I am always baffled by the ability of Christians to cast themselves into imaginary chains of persecution. One must completely redefine the term persecution for it to accurately depict the condition of Christians in America. America is still overwhelmingly Christian, but somehow, through
fMRI scannerResearchers using brain scans have uncovered evidence of cerebral dysfunction in women with sensory conversion disorder, better known as hysteria, a condition first recorded in ancient Egypt over 4,000 years ago. The study's findings open up a new window to understanding hysteria, an unexplained disorder in which a patient complains of symptoms, but doctors can't find anything medically wrong with them. The study is published in the current issue of Neurology, the journal of the American Academy of Neurology. The study involved three women with sensory conversion disorder who complained of numbness in their left hand or foot. Researchers used an fMRI to study how the brains of these three women respond to stimulation of their numb body parts. In all three cases, the study found stimulation of the numb hand or foot failed to activate the side of the brain which responds to touch. However, that part of the brain did respond when researchers stimulated both the numb body par
I just got scared.
I woke this morning hearing a cat crying outside my window. I even saw it for a moment.
Tonight I started hearing it again so I went out to investigate. The trouble was that when I got down into the garden I coud hear the crying coming from all around me. I think it might not be real. I got scared and called Ruth which calmed me down.
I know that I have been feeling bad today, visiting mum in hospital was stressful. Driving back home the overwhelmeing feeling that I just couldnt cope any more, almost had me in tears. I've also been sleep deprived lately, as I try to get myself back into a day light and mornings routine.
I can ususally tell when something that I see or hear is an hallucination. Its rare that one hits me as indestinguishable from reality.
I think that I should just ignore any crying cat in the garden noises for the time being.
Elephant Design enables users to build their own imaginary gadgets online! They gather ideas from consumers online and allow designers to join in later to materialize these ideas into designed objects. In case there are enough online supporters (i.e. potential customers) for a particular design, then it's put up for sale via manufacturers. For example, there's the special washing machine glows while T-shirts and socks go round in the whirlpool. Moreover, because it's made of soft rubber and thus supposedly comfortable, you can sit on it, feeling its vibration as if you were on a massage chair! Unfortunately this astonishing design is still waiting to be merchandised. So, you don't have to be an experienced professional designer to truly understand people's needs. It's the common users that know already what they want!More products after the jump.
