I’ve spent numerous hours of research, I followed a reductionist approach, a holistic approach as well. I looked at the areas I liked and also at what’s available, then I merged the findings and researched the fields to narrow down the options by their desirability (ignoring other obstacles for now). This resembles phases 1, 3, [...]
Somewhere between Pollock and Pop, new art developed an allergy to the word spiritual unless it was attached to ethnicity. It was O.K. to make altars in galleries if you were Mexican-American - in fact, you were sort of required to - but if you were plain old American, no.
Yet on the fringes, where the most together thinking tends to take place, there was resistance to this bias. In the late 1960
The Day Has ComeIt has finally happened,Now it’s happening,Now you are unhappy,You were the one who told me all about it;It has come,Everyone knows it,Everyone has seen it,Yet now that its actually happenedYou seem surprised,As if you never wanted it to happen; Now you’re the only onePracticing hate and violence.

The Subliminal Messages of Negative Imagery on Our Children - Here is a common scenario: Your fifteen-year old son is checking his email when pornography spam accidentally makes its way into his inbox. The subject line: "See Britney Spears Naked". What is your son going to do? Will he click on it? The only way he is NOT going to click on it is if you, the parent have been teaching your son self-respect and proper morals in life since he was a boy. Young boys need to understand how to value and respect women because most young girls and women can be respected and valued. Writing shortly after the death of Joseph Conrad, Richard Aldington credited the impressionistic novelist with both a "brooding poetic fire" and "powers of evocation" greater than those of another senior British novelist, Thomas Hardy. Aldington's casual dismissal of Hardy as merely a regional novelist (recording characters and customs fast becoming extinct, but unable to tell a good story) seems somewhat surprising from a late twentieth-century perspective. However, since Conrad began to publish fiction at the very time that Hardy ceased, Aldington was doubtless responding to the biases of his own generation against the tastes of the previous generation. Aldington finds Hardy's chief defect to be his style, which he pronounces "never particularly beautiful and . . . sometimes almost clums

What do you do in Bishkek when the power goes out?Take cool candle photos, of course! The official map of Bishkek only labels two religious facilities: the Orthodox Cathedral I photographed last week, and an Islamic Mosque. (Of course there are more than two, but as I gather it, these are the main ones.) Yesterday I decided to check out the mosque. I was hoping for something equal in splendor to the Orthodox Cathedral, but I was rather disappointed: all concrete and tin. I only took one photo, and it wasn't even all that great. I felt rather conspicuous, and wanted to hurry things up so I wouldn't seem offensive.See what I mean? Concrete and tin.Meanwhile, I found this ironic. The sign reads:For the dumping of trash there is a fine of 1000 somsLikewise. Sigh.Last night we went to Zeppelin,

While we are on the subject of rumors, In our new media enhanced universe it's really just a question of time until everything is revealed. Even some things USIsrael government rather leave hidden. Thus, the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) website now serves the original DigitalGlobe imagery pdf report of the location where Israel airstriked Syria September 6 this year.
Today we'll talk about the imagery of light and darkness.Light is the symbol of knowledge and goodness while darkness is the symbol of evil and theft. A deep pal of darkness surrounds the whole play from beginning to end. Most of the scenes that crowd to our mind are the scenes of darkness. For example, the King Duncan is murdered in his sleep at night when it is too dark for anyone to see. Banquo is also killed at night. The night is so dark that he asks his son Fleance to bring a torch. Even Lady Macbeth, before her death sees only darkness around her. Therefore, she has asked her chamber servants to keep a torch lighted all the time. Even when there is any light, it is earnestly desired that the light be turned into darkness when Macbeth hears that Malcolm will be the Prince of Scotland, he appeals to the stars “hide your fires” so that his darkness remains invisible to the human eye. After this he only thinks of darkness and “thick night” whenever he wants to act. For exam

The other image which recurs in the play is that of robes too big and unfit for Macbeth. Indeed, from the very beginning of the play, Macbeth is aware that the honours due to a King are too much for a person like him. When he learns from Rosse that he has been made the Thane of Cawdor, he asks:“…Why do you dress meIn borrow’d robes?” Even Banquo uses this image of robes and says: “New honours come upon him, Like our strange garments.” When Duncan has supped and is resting in Macbeth’s home, he (Macbeth) expresses his inability to his wife doing the dark deed. He says that he has earned a good reputation from all sorts of people, which is like robes I “their newest gloss”, which he cannot throw down so soon. At this, continuing this image of robes his wife asks him if he was drund when he hoped to wear those robes. After the murder of Duncan, when Rosse says that he is going to Macbeth’s coronation,
Commenting on the rich, vivid and varied imagery used by Shakespeare in ‘Macbeth’, A.C. Bradley says, “The vividness, magnitude and violence of the imagery…are characteristic of Macbeth almost throughout.” Indeed, from the very beginning till the end there are several symbols, similes and images invoked by the dramatist to lend to the play the characteristic horror, terror and darkness of human soul. Some of the recurring images in ‘Macbeth’ are those of clothes too big for Macbeth, creating the impression that he is a comic figure; the image of blood, bloody dagger and bloody hands; the image of sounds like thunder and its echo, the image of the speeding horses and images created with the help of animals, birds, reptiles; as well as the image of darkness and blackness all around. The play opens with a sound of thunder in which the three witches appear, at a deserted place. The sound of thunder is heard several times throughout the play, for example, when the witches app

"My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me" (Ps. 63:8 NASB). Here are two different parties and two different actions. The soul clings and the right hand upholds. The believer is dependent on the one who alone sustains. This verse is not merely a statement of longing, but rather paints a picture of something, namely, the soul clinging and the right hand upholding. What is this a picture of? What else can it be but an embrace. It is in fact an intense embrace. The little child runs to his father and wraps his arms around his neck; The father's strong hands uphold the child that so desperately clings to Him. Notice the parallelism in this verse: when the soul clings, the right hand upholds. There is no seperation of these two vitally necessary components of this embrace. Both aspects are required.Life is not what you can bring, but where you choose to cling. The Heart is awed by this condescending grace, For no soul deserves the joy of this Divine Embrace...

The dried seedheads are gorgeous as well.I did some drawings from them in coloured pencil but hadn't done any work from them until now. I've got to work later to cover for a sick colleague so didn't feel like getting on a roll with the oil paintings, only to have to stop and clean up just when I want to keep on, so I decided to see what images I'd got to play with on the computer - it's clean! These are what I've done so far and I can see them leading on to watercolours and canvasses, I like the shapes and the suggestion of the textures and colour of the artichokes, without being a

Following on from user feedback, we are pleased to advise that we have now updated our site feed from a summary feed to a full post feed inclusive of imagery.
We would like to thank all those who have been kind enough to offer feedback concerning TFTS and we hope that moving to a full feed will be welcomed by our readership.
(Incidentally, we are afraid that we must disappoint those of you who emailed us as asked if we could display a larger RSS Feed icon on the site on the basis that Aunt Agnus, who regularly visits for her dose of gadgets, curiosities and spelling mistakes, only has a 800×600 monitor - ).

PARIS (Reuters) - Fashion designer John Galliano’s company was ordered to pay 200,000 euros ($271,800) in damages to renowned U.S. photographer William Klein for unauthorized use of his atmospheric imagery in an advertising campaign.

Apparently, there has been a lot of discussion as of late about why Google switched all the New Orleans imagery back to pre-Katrina imagery. This is a quote off Slashdot:"CNN reports that images of lands devastated by Hurricane Katrina have been replaced on Google's map service with pre-Hurricane Katrina imagery. Now a subcommittee from The House Committee on Science and Technology has asked CEO Eric Schmidt for Google's motivation behind the imagery switch. '[Congressional subcommittee chair Brad] Miller asked Google to brief his staff by April 6 on who made the decision to replace the imagery with pre-Katrina images, and to disclose if Google was contacted by the city, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Geological Survey or any other government entity about changing the imagery. "To use older, pre-Katrina imagery when more recent images are available without some explanation as to why appears to be fundamentally dishonest," Miller said.' It is worth pointing out th

iStock Photos are one of the best sites I have found for photo content on the internet. They have a really good selection of stock images at amazing prices for quick download and use. A personal blog on the other hand can be different…..mmmmh!
Microsoft Corp. announced that it will begin to update the Virtual Earth™ online mapping platform with new, more detailed U.S. imagery under an agreement with GlobeXplorer LLC, a leading...
