Philippine lanterns illuminate Vienna Advent Festival
VIENNA - The official lighting of lanterns from Pampanga province in the Philippines took place on November 19, 2007 in front of Vienna's City Hall. The San Fernando City government, through the initiative of Mayor Oscar Rodriguez, donated 60 San Fernando lanterns to the Philippine Embassy in Vienna. The lanterns decorate one of 11 trees in the Rathausplatz in the Christkindlmarkt grounds, one of the biggest and most popular Christmas markets in Europe. Hundreds of stalls on the vicinity of the city hall were being installed. The stalls offer European and exotic foods, drinks and a lot of Christmas souvenirs. Indeed, it was a "tiangge"-like atmosphere. The Vienna Christkindlmarkt runs for six weeks from the third weekend of November to Christmas Day. It attracts an estimated three million tourists from Austria and neighboring countries. The simultaneous lighting of the Philippine lanterns was officiated by Ambassador Linglingay Lacanlale and Dr. Elisabeth Vitouch from the Vienna city

      Illuminate my world
Three years ago, we moved to our new apartment. I still remember vividly in my memory, the mixed emotions of excitement , angst and frustration in between as the renovation was going on. We gutted the whole place that's why, and dealing with the contractor wasn't that easy. The whole re-do took about four months.I saw the light at the end of the tunnel when we got into the phase of choosing paint colors, lighting fixtures, and furniture. This was the real fun part. The one thing that amazed me the most was the wide assortment of styles and the different types of light fixtures available to be had. Oh, were they gorgeous! I didn't know which one to pick. I made a big fuss though, with the bathroom fixture. You know, the bathroom is where I apply my make-up and I really need good lighting. To me, it shouldn't be only functional, but decorative as well. The decision as to which style and type of ceiling light fixtures throughout the rest of the apartment was a breeze. I wasn't too p

2 Powerful Techniques To Illuminate Your Travel Writing
In real life we simultaneously process dozens of thoughts, memories, ideas and emotions. The stories that seem real and alive are stories that contain multiple layers. The beginning writer, however, usually tends to focus on one thing at a time. Here are two techniques that will add depth and layering to your travel narrative. 1. Object Correlative One of the simplest but most powerful techniques to layer descriptions, narration, and characters’ emotions, is called the object correlative. The idea is that instead of simply stating how a character feels or thinks, the writer suggests it, using a correlation between an object and the way a character observes or acts upon it. Example 1 (Basic) “I felt lonely.” Example 2 (Object Correlative) “I’d go out to the harbor around dusk and look at the ships tied to their moorings.” The first example—“I felt lonely”—only works on one level, telling how the character feels. The second example—if pl
