“On 26/11, I was on my way back from work and passed the spot on the highway where the bomb exploded in a taxi at Vile-Parle. My car jolted and stopped. For the first time I felt the pangs of uncertainty. I felt unsafe in my own land. I was contemplating whether to go home or return to my work? Mobile networks were jammed. What if there were bombs planted all around? I was numb. Somehow I manage
CNX Nifty opened neutral and rose to test its previous recent high of 2832, and after touching it, fell with an angle of 45% to its projected support of 2748. It proved to be a strong support as Nifty then bounced back to neutral line, and then fell breaking below it, and this time it was time to test its another forecasted support of 2709. This proved to be a sacred line, and held nifty tightly.

I am convinced that God is loving, kind, merciful, and forgiving. He is also just. We don't like to talk about the "just" part much as Christians, because, well, it's painful. It means that we

One thing I have always wanted to get my hands on is a hammock/shelter. The hammock has many advantages. It is way more comfortable than sleeping on the ground. The hammock is super light which is very important when hiking and carrying everything you need in your pack.
The Hammock eliminates the need to carry:
1.) Tent
2.) Sleeping pad
3.) In warm weather you could conceivably ditch the sleeping

Be humble for you are made of dung. Be noble for you are made of stars.--Serbian proverbI love this quote because it offers a reminder that nobility and humility can co-exist. Being composed of matter, we are all fundamentally created from the dust of stars. That's a very noble thought. On a more organic level we are all also simply organic beings made from molecules that eventually become waste matter to feed the earth. This is a good reminder that the original definition of "humble" is to be low to the ground. None of us are "all that", as the saying goes. As the Beatles sang, "life goes on within you and without you." The Serbian quote above reminds me of another quote by the Tibetan Buddhist Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, who wrote:You are living in a rich world, one that never runs

Baseball seems always to have lived more in myth than in history. Children in England and the United States had been playing variants of the game for years such as rounders, one o' cat, and base. In 1845, some young men in Manhattan organized themselves into the Knickerbockers BaseBall Club and wrote down the rules of the game they were playing. Twenty years later dozens of baseball clubs in New York and Brooklyn, and their journalist brethren, had made what they called "the national pastime" more popular than cricket, and the metropolis had become the country's first baseball powerhouse. As baseball clubs were transformed into entertainment businesses, so grew their need for first-rate players who could attract paying crowds. Although distinctions between players and their clubs (now re

The piece of women’s clothing known as a bra has come a long way from making the U.S. War Industries Board request women to stop wearing metal-rich corsets to reduce metal consumption to the bra-burning days of women’s lib. Women all over the world have a lot of people to be thankful for as the history of this much-hidden but very supportive garment has been rather colorful. The ancient civilization of Crete is held to be the original birthplace of the bra with its women wearing something like it to support their breasts. The early bras gave away to the very restrictive and uncomfortable corsets, which alternatively down-played and pushed-up the female breasts depending on the ways of the times. Numerous innovations and innovators later, the bra coalesced into its present form an

Many people talk and write about putting Christ back into the word "Christmas,†but perhaps we should all put the word "Christ†back into the word "Christian†first.Podcast version hereThere's a lot of talk these days about freedom and faith, and how these two noble human qualities are supposed to interact. Coming into work this morning, I was listening to a radio talk show. The host was encouraging his audience to talk about the separation issues between Church and State. As usual, each side was berating the other: Christians claimed to be persecuted by local, State and Federal laws; Federalists were claiming that Christians were interfering in school and county policies.Galatians 5: 13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.No one, however, wanted to talk about the freedom that Christians called to express - the freedom to serve one another. Some Christians believe

By some estimates, as much as 40 percent of Japanese blogging is done on mobile phones, often by commuters staring cross-eyed at tiny screens for hours as they ride the world’s most extensive network of subways and commuter trains. Blogging in Japan, though, is a far tamer beast than in the United States and the rest of the English-speaking world. Japan’s conformist culture has embraced a technology that Americans often use for abrasive self-promotion and refashioned it as a soothingly nonconfrontational medium for getting along. loggers here shy away from

Yeah, CEO's are under a lot of pressure to produce financial results. That said, simply being named CEO of a public company is often the economic equivalent of winning the lottery. 10Q Detective comments on a couple of examples of such with one post on Michael Dell's millions of dollars a year in company-paid personal security and private aircraft costs and another post about the Bowl America CEO's $100K per year for life to be paid after he leaves the company. My boy Dogwood does investors a service by regularly discussing his performance, be it good or bad performance. I should have taken a screen print of those few shining hours yesterday morning, before all the other nominees noticed that they were nominated for the Best Parenting Blog thing, and me and my early-rising bloggy peeps were running the voting show. Ah well, at least a few of you immortalized the glory days hours in the comments.
Since after a day and a half of voting, I have less than 10% of the votes of the leading contender and teetering on the edge of dead last, I think I safely call this race as run. If I thought it would help, I’d tell you to vote for my dear friend and bloggy sister, Bub and Pie, but even if we pool our votes I’m not sure we could clamber out of last place.
Heck, they don’t even have the blog name right in the link list under the poll. They’ve got me down as Dani Girl instead of Postcards from the Mothership. Oh, that must be the problem. I’m suffering from brand confusion. Yeah, that’s it, that explains everything!
The United States harvests billions of pounds [more than a billion kilograms] of peanuts annually, producing almost 10 percent of the world total. Argentina, Brazil, Malawi, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, and Sudan are also major peanut-growing countries. How did the peanut become so popular? Is it ever wise to avoid eating peanuts?A Long HistoryThe peanut is thought to have originated in South America. One of the earliest known artifacts showing man's appreciation of peanuts is a pre-Columbian vase discovered in Peru. The vase is shaped like a peanut and is also decorated with peanut-shaped designs. Spanish explorers, who first encountered peanuts in South America, found them to be an excellent source of nutrition for their voyages. They then brought some back to Europe. The Europeans put the peanut to additional uses, even as a substitute for coffee beans.Later the Portuguese introduced peanuts to Africa. There peanuts were quickly recognized as a valuable food source that would gr
I just ran across this hilarious take on an unnamed Canadian sheeple (or would the singular be sheeperson?) and their bumper stickers. The full post is here. R-rated excerpt below.I'm in my car, sitting in traffic, and I notice the rig in front of me was covered in bumper stickers. Strange, strange bumper stickers....The final one was my favorite. It's off the crazy scale. It reads as such:What? Border collies? You fucking idiot. It doesn't even make sense. Any fucking shmuck on Earf can buy a fucking border collie. You might as well make the bumper sticker say, "It's hard to be humble when you own toothpaste." Makes as much sense. Now if it said, "It's hard to be humble when you own the greatest tits on the planet," well, yeah, I would imagine it would be hard to be humble in that spot. Otherwise it's weird."Hey, I saw you talking to that girl with the great tits. How did it go?""Awesome! She blew me in the bathroom. It was like she had no self-worth at all!""Hey, I saw you talk

If a week is a long time in football, then in a month surely anything can happen. And only a month ago we had played just three games – a narrow last minute win at home to Fulham, an away win in Prague, and a battling draw away at Blackburn. Most certainly nothing to get very excited about. At that time I was questioning our team, our manager, our formation, the inclusion of Flamini, the tactics, the qualities of Adeybayor etc. etc.
Now, after a further 5 games - winning them all and showing ever increasing confidence and panache - things are certainly looking different. At least to me.
We mustn’t of course get carried away, but, BUT! everything is now looking beautifully rosy and everything seems to be going our way. Three goals scored on each of the last four games, beating the

Demos is mildly excited about the prospects of a British The West Wing on Radio 4. Number 10, the political drama, is an attempt to portray politicians as serious and competent; a refreshing challenge considering the domination of satire in Britain. If Demos is accurate, they portray politicians as they ought to be portrayed:Radio 4 is airing a new drama called 'Number 10' this Friday, which is sort of trying to do for UK politics what 'The West Wing' did for America. The really interesting question is whether the British public can swallow a positive portrayal of politicians as morally serious people who are genuinely trying to do their best in challenging circumstances.Jonathan Myerson, the author of the drama, writes about his reasoning in Prospect (including a fantastic quote):I’m proud to think that Number 10 might be an advertisement for politics and those involved in it. If the series has a slogan, it’s summed up in this speech by one of the PM’s special advisers: “I

Sometimes a quick snack or lunch for me is a steamed sweet potato. This humble spud is stuffed with anthocyanin, a flavanoid which helps fight heart disease. These days, it is available in many varieties - red skinned ones, orange skin and just pale beige ones. For steaming, I prefer the red skinned ones and would use the orange and yellow ones for boiling as a sweet dessert. Try not to add any sugar and boil with some honey dates. It is healthier and taste yummy too.

In my mind, I am still thinking, "we lost to the Texas Rangers?"...Well, if you are going to lose real bad, make it memorable.Ok, so tonight's game was a total fluke. Even if you are the best in the world at doing one thing, there are other things–important, worthwhile things–that you cannot do, and you may never be able to do some of these things. Add to this the fact that there are a great many things that no person can do, and you can get som
