The Hot Wheels brand first hit our shops in 1968, and it’s said that around four billion cars have sold in the last 40 years. And in its 40th anniversary they chose to celebrate it with a unique toy car. They create diamond-covered Hot Wheels car was designed by a celebrity jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills. A Hot Wheels model cast in 18-karat white gold and embedded with blue diamonds. The engine is encrusted with black and white diamonds. The tail lights are made of rubies and the tires are a combination of black diamonds and red enamel. The car is embedded with 2,700 diamonds that weigh almost 23 carats. This 1:64 scale car has an estimated value of just over $140,000. The diamond-studded car will be auctioned later this year to benefit one of Lachey's favorite charities, Big Brothers
The most expensive Hot Wheels model has been shown to the public for the first time at the American Toy Fair in New York.The 1:5 scale model has been cast in white gold and adorned with more than 2,700 diamonds while the under side of the model is lined with both white and black diamonds.The model was crafter by Jason Arasheben of Beverly Hills and will be auctioned for charity. Lotus in collaboration with everybody’s favorite toy-car manufacturer has teamed up to create a 1:5 scale model of a new roadster, unveiled recently at the SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas. The concept whip signifies the 40th anniversary of Hot Wheels but also functions as a means for Lotus to preview its future design direction.
The car’s designers wanted to make a statement so the concept features characteristics from the Elise and Exige, the signature Lotus ‘mouth’, the pronounced wheel arches and trademark bonnet graphics. More photos after the break. (more…)

O objetivo da peça era mostrar os carros que estavam expostos em uma feira automotiva chamada Motor Show como se fossem miniaturas. Como muitos filhos acompanham seus pais nesses eventos, a idéia cumpre seu papel, além de divertir o público (selecionadissímo, diga-se de passagem).
A ação foi criada para a marca de miniaturas de carros Hot Wheels e o texto impresso no binóculo diz: “Now at the Motor Show, tomorrow by Hot Wheels”, + ou -: “Agora no Motor Show, amanhã na Hot Wheels”.

A McCann Erickson, da Suíça, aproveitou essa oportunidade e fez uma ação sensacional para a Hot Wheels: desenvolveu binóculos que, ao invés de aumentar, diminuiam as coisas. Assim, os carros eram mostrados como se fossem miniaturas!
O texto no binóculo dizia: “Now at the Motor Show, tomorrow by Hot Wheels”, que seria mais ou menos “Agora no Motor Show, amanhã na Hot Wheels”.
A idéia é extremamente simples e eficiente, mas atinge um público bastante selecionado. E acho que, além de tudo, ainda consegue divertir o consumidor.
