Hot Chip es una banda que poco a poco se ha ganado sus propios fans y ha escalado en el mundo de la musica rock, indie, y electrónica ganándose el respeto de los medios, de bandas y de sus mismos fans. Como dato cultural, en sus inicios, los fundadores de Hot Chip visitaron México y tal fue su inspiración para componer música que su primer EP lo titularon Mexico EP. Actualmente, con su último disco Made In The Dark y su anterior sencillo Ready For The Floor lograron consolidarse como uno de los actos en vivo más llamativos en el último par de años. CYSTSFTS faves Hot Chip are back with a killer new record called Made In The Dark which is (again) filled with spastic indie electro r&b soul pop that ranges from inside jokes I don't really understand to fantastic and glitchy ear candy. The album is great, but only in fits and starts; it is wide-ranging and exploratory but lacks a real cohesion as well as a true barn burner like "Boy From School." That shouldn't matter though since an only above-average record from Hot Chip is better than a stellar record from most other groups. Ce sera le 18 Mars 2008 au Trabendo. Notez cette date sur vos tablette, ca va être très grand. Hot Chip est 2e classement artistes et 5e des recherches sur The Hype Machine, ca sent bon pour eux moi je l'dis. Cette fois ca y est : Ready For The Floor est arrivée dans toutes les bonnes crémeries, peu après le clip. Le son est un peu décévant, un peu "léger" par rapport aux prestations live, mais il est heureux qu'il soit comme ça plutôt que chanté comme Kylie Minogue comme ça aurait pu. Et si l'on en croit l'effervescence qu'il provoque sur la blogosphere, on peut lui promettre un bel avenir. Et puis ca n'est que le troisième morceau révélé de Made In the Dark (après Shake A Fist et No). Alors voilà, ce Samedi nous entrons dans le mois de Décembre, et pour tout fanatique de musique qui se respecte, le mois de Décembre, c'est le moment de faire le top de l'année musicale passée. Autant l'année dernière avait été assez décevante (peu d'albums majeurs)(mon post top a disparu avec la nouvelle version du blog), autant celle ci est vraiment impréssionante, un très très bon cru, qui a démarré sur les chapeaux de roues avant de se tasser un peu. J'ai donc fait une petite préselections des albums que j'ai aimé plus que modérément cette année. C'est un peu mainstream mais il n'y a pas les Klaxons! Il semblerait qu'on ait là affaire à un nouveau morceau d'Hot Chip. Le gimmik fait penser à No, No Thanks No de Serge Gainsbourg. Avec le foirage final en règle de Shake A Fist. Il y a également un teaser de Ready For The Floor (dont j'avais proposé un remix ici) sur leur myspace, dont la version officielle devrait être disponible dans quelque jours. Dans la série "Le prochain album d'Hot Chip changera le monde ou ne sera pas" voilà un titre qui sera sur la bête, en version ultra-dansante évidemment. Vu que 3 fois en live, j'ai déjà l'impression de connaitre par coeur ce morceau, tellement il est instinctif et accrocheur. Il s'agit ici d'une version acoustique, maintenant imaginez des basses supuissantes et des rythmes synthetiques chaloupés dessus, a mi chemin entre "ready for the floor" et "shake a fist", et une improvisation rythmique démente de fin de concert, et on se rapproche un peu de la substance du truc.Hot Chip - Hold On

Les exclusivités se lachent au compte-goute. Alors que le prochain album est prêt mais attend sagement le mois de Fevrier pour être laché à la face de la planète, Hot Chip attend tranquillement son heure de gloire. Et elle ne devrait plus trop tarder, le groupe ayant mis du fluo, et surtout des bpms extasiés dans son art. Plus de "gros beats" donc, mais pas au détriment de la qualité des chansons, qui si elles seront définitevement plus dansante, à l'image de leurs préstations Live, reste plus que dans l'air du temps. Comme un condensé de Devo, Kraftwerk et LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip passent maîtres dans l'art de faire remuer les guiboles, et pour que l'invasion soit totale, ils préparent de leur base secrète leur stratégie. Des remixs, des teasers, tout ce qu'il faut pour faire monter la sauce avant la date fatidique de la sortie de l'album.
