Tin Horse with Lilies 7.5 x 10.5 Watercolor on Bristol paperThe sunlight at dawn sprays the best shadows in our house. This vase of lilies had just opened, and the star shaped white against all the abstract shadows in dark hues was too good to pass by. The little horse is wooden underneath, and covered with hammered tin and nails - just enough armor to challenge the sunrise.
Very gental 19 second barrel horse, 23 second pole horse. He would be good for kids just starting rodeo or playday, he knows what he is doing. (not a barrel hitter) Very calm on trail and with little kids. He is a beautiful parade horse he likes to show off and prance in parades. Not a crazy barrel horse. Was a roping horse when I bought him and i am selling him because he is not fast enough. Neck reins very well, stands for the farrier, bathes and loads in the trailor.
This is the original panel I received for the next mural I'll be part of. I love the colors. What do you think I'll paint on here? What would you paint on it if it was yours?I need to keep within 20% of the color and value of what's here but at the same time, create my very own painting over the top of this.I had the panel here for two days, looking at it, studying it over, then I saw the image in there. The reason it came to me like it did, was because on our last photo shoot, I took a photo that exactly fits this image. I'll be changing colors on my horses and redesigning from afternoon to backlit sunset colors on the horses, but I hope it turns out as it nears completion.Donna Ridgway
What up y'all I just want to drop you guys a new mix that I got early this morning in an e-mail. Apparently this d00d DJ PopsicleStick Horse (no idea what that name means) is resident for a month on UK's Early Edition, London Radio. I couldn't find much info on him but his 37 minute mix has got the likes of Daft Punk, Justice, M.I.A., Cut Copy, Shinichi Osawa, etc. It's pretty rad stuff. You should host your own party tonight! Lob that mix in! DJ PopsicleStick Horse - Early Edition Set 5.08.2008

We'd all be nieve to think that Mark Teixiera will not be headed for a serious payday once the season ends, but the question that has come up in the minds of Oriole fans is will he come to the Yard and back to Baltimore? (he grew up in Anne Arundel County)In Paul Heyman's Daily Scoop on the CNNsi.com website, the slugger chats about possibly returning to Maryland -- this time -- perhaps as an Oriole.I'm still not convinced he'll come to Baltimore as our first baseman, but what he told Heyman is promising -- with a grain of salt."These are things to talk about at the end of the season,'' Teixeira says. "I'm not going to make any predictions. I'm enjoying playing in Atlanta ... and there's no doubt this organization is a winning organization. When I become a free agent, Atlanta's definitely

Kentucky Derky Day proved to be a trying day. Tho we could cheer for Big Brown as he crossed the wire, we were dis-hearted by Belle's injury and passing. Brought to the attention of many since Barbaro's wins and injuries there has been some medical improvement for equines. It was inspiring and hopeful to receive this email and photo today. She spent weeks on her own before finally being rescued and taken to a farm where abandoned animals were stockpiled. While there, she was attacked by a dog, and almost died. Last week was Agfest week. Agfest rocks. It's a rural field day event at Carrick near Launceston with many hundreds of exhibitors and an attendance over it's three days approaching one hundred thousand. We went up on the Saturday. There were thirty thousand people there, and about ten thousand cars and yet not once did we have to stop and queue in the car and the place never felt crowded. There were some queue's in the Tasmanian gourmet food hall, however none were too long. Emma and Brad seemed to like the BWM stand and some of the boating stands the most. Not very rural stuff, however farm machinery all starts to look the same when you come from the city.
We decided to spend the night in Launceston so I booked us into the Launceston Country Club Casino for the night. It wa

It's no surprise Charles Bennett doesn't have a lot of credibility when he opens his mouth, but I wonder if there's any truth to them sometimes. Check out this video and voice your opinion: Do you think the "Krazy Horse" really did knock out Wanderlei?
This athletic gelding, born March 2003, is a gem of a cowhorse. He is an NCHA and PCCHA money earner, a seasoned performer, and has marked 74's at NCHA weekend shows. A good worker here. His sire, Sanman Badger, is an own son of famed Peppy San Badger. Maternal grandsire Plumb Dry was NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity World Champion. This gelding offers tremendous potential. Horse comforters are nothing new for cowboys or cowgirls, but you have to admit that bedding and comforter sets with horse prints have always had a predominantly masculine color scheme. Colors in horse bedding for girls could hardly be distinguished from comforter sets for boys' bedrooms. When it came to decorating a horse bedroom for teenage girls, the best that we could do would be to brighten the room with some light, neutral colored window treatments and floor coverings to prevent the browns and blacks associated with the leather of the horse tack and horseshoe motifs from making the room dark as the inside of a barn and a whole lot less cheerful. Thankfully, some fabric designer realized that the color of saddle leather and black iron looked fabulous when combined with lavender and

Benny didn't move. Then he yelled, "Come on, pull Ranger." Still, Benny didn't move. Then he yelled really loud, "Now pull, Fred, pull hard." Benny just stood. Then the farmer nonchalantly said, "Okay, Benny, pull."Benny pulled the car out of the ditch. The man was very appreciative but curious. He asked the farmer why he called his horse by the wrong name three times. The farmer said, "Oh, Benny is blind, and if he thought he was the only one pulling he wouldn't even tr

With that on board I better give you some background details, oh wait, according to their website TSOAF are made up of the Walrus, the Lynx, the Nightingale and the Skunk. Hmm, this mystery collective (check out the all knowing wikipedia for a more in depth zoological background) already have 2 albums to their name and a third is due to drop this autumn. I guess the best definition of them would be experimental but not so out there so as to make the job of listening a chore (wha?). The Thoroughbred is a breed of horse first developed during the 17th and 18th centuries in England, by crossbreeding Arabians with native horses to produce superior racing horses. The Thoroughbred has been called the ultimate work of art ever produced by man, and has a height of around 160 to 170cm (to the shoulders), weighing between 450 and 500kg. Its well-developed chest and hindquarters make it a fast runner. It can run at speeds of up to 60 or 70km/h for minutes on end, even with a 50kg rider on its back. However, its thin legs are prone to injuries. In terms of temperament, it is a very delicate horse, sensitive to loud noises and bright lights.Canon Papercraft
Well, Kola is doing well today. Yesterday I mentioned a couple of poops I found to be hers as I had them separated overnight. This morning I fed them separated and started their taste of grain back up. Kola was her usual self talking to me and getting excited about food. When I updated the vet yesterday, it was suggested that I start giving 2 tablespoons of Metamucil twice a week with her grain, so I gave her 2 tbs of unflavored Metamucil with her grain and she ate it right up and one flake of hay. A couple of hours later, I went out to check on her and she pooped in front of me. I love it when they do that so I can check it and know who it came from, etc. and this it! Yesterday's poop was still a little dry and finally this morning this is what Kola accomplished. Of course it's on top of

Last night on Channel 4 News there was a chap from the Leek Building Society talking to Jon Snow. Snow is like Paxman. He can spot waffle and weasle words. The chap in question (didn't get his name) said he thought this injection of taxpayers' money was a "start". Jon Snow, asked him how much money was required. "If you're going to drop cash in the ocean, how much is needed?" The answer seemed less than satisfactory, but he did say one thing that I thought, well, that sums it all up.This money is to rebuild confidence. Apparently, it's all down to us, the suckers who feel we can't trust the banks. It's all our fault! We should be thinking more positively. House prices aren't falling, it's all a bad dream. But when this money finally comes across from the sticky fingers of Mervyn King and h

It has been b-e-a-utiful outside lately and I am loving it. It’s amazing how quiet the house gets when the weather gets warmer All the playing outside has been thoroughly wearing the boys out. Also something I love. We also got our first chance to see a ball game here. We took the boys to see the Red Wings Friday night and had a great time. I haven’t had much to say on here as of late, but I hope to have some more blogging ideas in the coming weeks. I certainly have lots of pictures to share. These are all the pics I’ve taken of the boys over the last week or so, including pics from the ball game Friday night. There’s a lot, so I’ll post them after the jump.
Ah yes the things we have learned and continue to learn from our horses. No matter how long you have been around horses, you will never "know it all". True, there are people who are very knowledgeable and some might consider them experts. No matter how much you know, you will always find a horse (and a human) that will teach you something new. I learned from thoroughbred mare.. what "running" was all about. I learned that "goosing Gazi" equaled a one way trip to the ground equaled pain.I know that is a little funny you see we really do learn a lot from our horses, and yes a lot of us learned how to fall off. There are more things that we have learned however For example we know when our horse isnt feeling well just by looking at them. We know when they come moping around that something isn

This week I finally finished the gulls in the grass (helped by the fact that the schools' went back), started the next and final painting for the bird book (gulls again!) and also completed this painting of a pony. I hadn't noticed until I saw it on the computer screen that because of his markings and the angle, it could almost be a black pony with a strange white area behind it or a piebald.

When I was a kid, my horse Lucky would take a nap. I'd see him out there in the field with his lip hanging. I'd laugh like a fool.Last night, we sat here watching tv and Robert fell asleep in his chair. I decided since he wasn't talking to me for a bit, I'd go get my colored pencils and take part in the drawing challenge on the EAG forum. This is a long series in a post-holocaust world. I enjoyed it. Adams get a bit preachy at times. He may not have an agenda but you are definitely subjected to proselytization. You can capture some of the history of Old San Juan, while moving about town like in the old days, while taking a horse and carriage tour through the Old City. The horse and carriage rides start near the Casita area, on the Bay of San Juan, just west of the cruise ship [...]
Usually it seems like cattle vets and equine vets have very different views on life and would rather see each other as little as possible. As such, it was quite surprising for me to learn that there was a calf hidden in the horse wards that had undergone treatment for an umbilical abscess.
I found out [...]

Last Sunday Jessica and Nick departed Bishkek, after finishing up their time teaching at The London School. Before they leave Kyrgyzstan, they’re spending a few weeks traveling around the country. The first leg of their journey took them from Bishkek to Kochkor (where we bought the shyrdaks on our way home from Naryn) for some horse-trekking with CBT, and they invited us to go with them.Sunday morning, Nick, Jessica, Katy, Alyson, Ben the Younger (as opposed to Ben the Elder who went with me to Ala Archa), Matthew and I set out for Kochkor. Like our trip to Naryn, this journey began with crazy haggling for taxis in front of the bus station. I was able to negotiate us a private minivan to take us all to Kochkor for the price of 1400soms, which I thought was a pretty good deal. However, I

A preacher wanted to raise money for his church and on being told that there was a fortune in horse racing, decided to purchase one and enter it in the races.
However at the local auction, the going price for horses was so high that he ended up buying a donkey instead. He figured that since [...]
For the past month or so Zanstorm and I have been arguing about who we think is going to go deep in the Stanley Cup playoffs. My desire would be a Canucks/Sens or Canucks/Habs final, and not because I'm some kind of anti-american zealot. In fact, I have cheered for the American squad in each of the past three finals. The Senators have developed the reputation of "Great in the regular season, Lousy in the playoffs", with much thanks going to the Leafs for beating them in three straight playoff series (2001, 2002, 2003). This reputation was largely correct until last season, when they waltzed through three Eastern conference opponents before being beaten by the Ducks in the Finals. This season has been quite a different story for the Sens though. After coming out of the gate in fantast
A long winter is ending on the steppe grasslands of Mongolia. This is home to a wild animal the Mongolians know as takhi - the spirits. Westerners call them Przewalski's horses. They're the only true wild horses in the world. Other so-called wild horses are domesticated horses which have reverted to a feral existence.Takhi are distinguished by short upright manes and stripes on the backs of their legs. This still frame is from extensive film footage held at NHNZ Images. They're closely related to the ancestors of domestic horses, but takhi have never been tamed.Life seems idyllic, but it hasn't always been easy. In 1968, Przewalski's horses were driven to extinction in the wild. Since the early 1990's animals bred in zoos have been released in areas such as here, in Hustain Nuruu National

I am so restless today, I have itchy feet. I need to feel the mountains. I have not been in the trees since last spring, before the forest fires ruined our summer. This photo sums up how I'm feeling, you can see the mountain beckoning....I'm even thinking of Turkey Bob, living there near Willow Creek in his little house that's a work of art. He put the house together from "found items". These items are used in the most unusual and creative ways. We stumbled upon Turkey Bob quite by accident the day we were charged by an antelope and that was the very same day we pulled a baby antelope off a barbed wire fence and hopefully saved his life. He was so new, his umbilical cord was attached to his tummy. It was quite a thrill to be charged by the antelope mom, rescue the baby, meet Turkey Bob
This horse will have your heart! Very smart, great trail horse. Was shown previously in 4-H.(walk trot) he has exceptionally smooth trot. I bought this horse for my 11 yr. old who had never ridden before. He loves to be loved, and is willing to do anything. I have had deer jump right in front of us on trail, and he doesn't even flinch. No vices. Loads, bathes, clips, stands for farrier.UTD on all shots.
Here's a round eyed carousel horse for you! He's pretty much finished but I might do a couple more touch ups on him.Carousel horses make me happy. I've always wanted one in my living room. I figured in my previous house, I'd have one in the living room, and put it on a gold pipe that lead to gears down in the basement. Then I'd ride the horse and my kids could sit on a seat downstairs and pedal so I could go up and down...just like on the carousel. I know my kids would have loved it. ha.Now I don't have a basement so I guess I won't try this idea any time soon.We spent a portion of this day removing the plumbing from my studio. We won't have running water to that house, because of Flood Control regulations. There isn't much room under it even though we still have the axles on the tr
The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep is a 2007 fantasy film directed by Jay Russell. The screenplay, written by screenwriter Robert Nelson Jacobs, is an adaption of Dick King-Smith's children's novel The Water Horse. It stars Alex Etel as a young boy who discovers a mysterious egg and cares for what hatches of it: a 'water horse' (losely based on the Celtic water horse) which later becomes the fabled Loch Ness Monster. Emily Watson, Ben Chaplin and David Morrissey also star. Walden Media, in collaboration with Beacon Pictures and Revolution Studios produced the film. Visual effects, which included the computer-generated imagery of the monster (named "Crusoe" by Etel's character) were completed by the New Zealand-based companies Weta Digital and Weta Workshop — visual effects companies who

This was big news around these parts on Tuesday. I know people will say, "How could this horse get out of her pen?". Well, it happens. Some horses are phenomenal escape artists. I had Misty escape once, barreling up and down the road on front of our home, while people stopped and were waving their arms frantically at the scared mare. When Steve finally realized what was going on, only because someone finally knocked on the door, he went outdoors with a scoop of grain and was able to real her in. I was at work. I carry an extra lead rope in my cars because I've seen it happen before. An Andalusian farm down the road has had escapees before that we've stopped for."An 1,800-pound Percheron draft horse is rescued after falling through an ice-covered pond in Johnson Creek. I received my official welcome from the Horse Gift mural project today so I'm considering myself a member of the team. This is a very exciting project to be on, I love these mural mosaics.A few days ago, I had news my ACEO cards will be featured in the spring ACEO Magazine. I'm also very excited about that as I love those little aceo cards. I've had so much fun creating and selling those cards. My five chosen paintings are also at the Grand National Celebration of Western Art, and I'm a member of the Grand National Artist's Society.I'm also trying a new auction site called onlineauctions.com Funny thing, they even have reps who call you and help you determine the best way to sell on their auction site. If I can create a market there for my work, I'll be pleased as I'm not selling on eba
