Joe Calzaghe split decision over Bernard Hopkins
Judge Ted Gimza scored it 115-112 for Calzaghe. Judge Adelaide Byrd gave it 114-113 to Hopkins. Chuck Giampa favored Calzaghe 116-111.

Bernard Hopkins VS Joe Calzaghe: Prediction
Next Saturday Night, April 19, 2008, Bernard Hopkins (48-4-1, 32 KOs), Light heavyweight Kingpin and living legend will step into the ring once again, this time at of 43, to take on Super Middleweight Boss and Welsh hero, the undefeated Joe Calzaghe, (44-0, 32 KOs).
I am always in the mood for “Execution Time” when Bernard Hopkins steps in the ring.
Vivid brights top our list of favorite spring fashion trends. Grass green, hot pink, cobalt, yellow, orange: we love them all. Wear It: Pick a bright color to wear next to your face that's flattering (blues, greens and pinks look great on almost anyone). Save the harder-to-wear colors (yellow and orange) for pops of color in footwear and handbags. Split V-neck collar layered with ruffles adorns
Those people over at Cox Cable, where I get my internet connection from are trying to give me the blues. As I post to my blogs this evening, I keep losing my connection. Thank God for auto save, or I would have lost a lot more of my work.Yeah, I got the "keep losing my internet connection" blues. And another thing that is making me blue is wanting to post this video clip of Lightin' Hopkins talking about what the blues is, man I show (that is the way we used to say it) do wish I could show it to you.But that is OK, see my intentions in this post are to explain how I think that Lightin' Hopkins was one of the best blues vocalist of all times. I really like his ability to make up a song on the fly. And that is really hard to do. But the man's mind was just that nimble. Of course he was a mas
The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has restored the word "abortion" as an acceptable search term on a reproductive health Web site that's funded by the government. The restriction on searches about abortion drew criticism from some health advocates and librarians who called it censorship. After learning that the word "abortion" was being ignored by the site's search engine, the dean of the Bloomberg school ordered it restored. Doctor Michael Klag says he'll be asking questions about why the decision was made to limit searches. The site, known as POPLINE, is funded by the United States Agency for International Development. ~ source ~
I received an email from a dear friend and I decided to post it here to increase awareness on the subject matter. 1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size. 2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumours. 4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to g

In Maternal antibodies may cause autism, published in the March 6, 2008, issue of The John Hopkins Newsletter Sam Ohmer discusses the recent study led by Hopkins pediatric neurologist Harvey Singer suggesting a possible connection between maternal antibodies and autism. The study focused on the role of the immune system in causing autism.Singer and his group found that, in some cases of autism, pregnant women's bodies actually raise antibodies against their babies, which sets off a series of events that slowed the normal development of the infants' brains. The team found that mothers of children with autism had heightened levels of certain antibodies during their pregnancies. "The presence of specific antibodies correlated with the presence of developmental regression in the affected ch
War of Words: Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins VS Joe Calzaghe
Bernard landed the first punch in his big upcoming fight against the Welshman.
“Name one great fighter you’ve fought!” yelled Hopkins once the fighters were separated. “Name one!”
“YOU name one you’ve fought,” Calzaghe screamed back.
“I can name five,” Hopkins said.
“Who? Oscar De La Hoya? Great fighter; smaller guy,” Calzaghe
Back in 2006, I wrote the following about Lightnin' Hopkins; If you want to learn how to play blues guitar, a good place to start would be to buy ever piece of Lightnin Hopkins' music that you can find and to study it nonstop. Lightnin's nimble dexterity, his ability to create some of the coolest boggie riffs, his often funny improvised lyrics that fit into whatever situation the bluesman found himself in, all combine to make him one of my favorite blues performers.Or if like me you just like listening to someone who knows how to play a guitar, then you might want to check this out;It was true then and it is true now.

01.10.07 - By Geoffrey Ciani: Theres something magical about watching a fighter rise from the canvas to comeback and knockout his opponent. This is especially true in championship bouts. When he then proceeded to stop Taylor five rounds later via brutal knockout, it capped off one of the most exciting middleweight fights in the past twenty years. more…

LAS VEGAS — Boxing regulators in the western state of Nevada fined Bernard Hopkins $200,000 on Friday for instigating a weigh-in brawl before his July fight with Winky Wright. “In Nevada, no melees, no free-for-alls, no fighting should be taking place at a weigh-in,” State Athletic Commission Chairman Tony Alamo told Hopkins at a hearing. “The only time there should be fighting going on is the night of the fight.” Hopkins’ fine, left to the discretion of the five-member more…
Wealthy, brilliant, and meticulous Ted Crawford, a structural engineer in Los Angeles, shoots his wife and entraps her lover. He signs a confession; at the arraignment, he asserts his rights to represent himself and asks the court to move immediately to trial. The prosecutor is Willy Beachum, a hotshot who’s soon to join a fancy civil-law firm, told by everyone it’s an open and shut case. Crawford sees Beachum’s weakness, the hairline fracture of his character: Willy’s a winner. The engineer sets in motion a clockwork crime with all the objects moving in ways he predicts.

24.07.07 - By Vanessa McConnell: What good is a fight in Nevada without a showdown? The trash talking, threats, promises and defeats. Last weeks Bernard Hopkins vs. Winky Wright, what I like to call the Old School vs. New School at the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas was nothing short of that. It was a little disappointing to hear that it was all for a pay hype. Bernard Hopkins put on a comical display of man eating open hand when he pushed Wright back with an open hand to the face, more…
23.07.07 - By Geoffrey Ciani: Its not too often that two elite boxers square off against one another and its even rarer when both are recognized amongst the sports top five pound-for-pound talents. Thats what made Saturday nights bout between Bernard Hopkins and Winky Wright so special. Despite the fact many observers felt we were in for a lackluster affair, boxing enthusiasts were fortunate enough to have been treated to an entertaining scrap. Hopkins was wise enough to understand more…
21.07.07 - By Ron Hansen: Boxing great, Bernard Hopkins (48-4-1, 32 KOs), once again showed his ring expertise as he out-slugged the jab-master Winky Wright (51-4-1) over the course of their 12-round bout tonight at the Mandalay Bay Events center in Las Vegas, Nevada, winning a unanimous decision. Hopkins was clearly the bigger of two, and both his size and his power were big problems for Wright, who was unable to control the fight as usual due to Hopkins superior size and boxing ability. more…
Winky Wright was beaten on points by Bernard “The Execution” Hopkins in their boxing match in Las Vegas last might.
The three judges scored the fight 117-111, 117-111 and 116-112 to Hopkins.
The fight was very tough as Bernard Hopkins said afterwards:
“It was a tough fight, a very close fight,”
“Winky’s tough and he kept on coming so I had to use the bait-and-fish.”
“You put the bait out there, the fish gets a little closer, you pull it back, and then you finally catch the fish.”

However, Ronald “Winky” Wright still thinks he should have won the boxing contest:
“I won the fight. It was a dirty fight. He was head-butting all day,” he said. “I thought I won the fight, but it was a close fight. I’m good, though.”

Ronald 'Winky' Wright has warned former undisputed middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins he will leave his legacy in tatters and send him "back to the retirement home" when they fight in Las Vegas tonight. Legend Hopkins (w47, l4, 1d 1no contest), has come out of retirement aged 42 to face ex-light middleweight world champion Wright.I think the bookies may have got this one wrong. Wright (w51, l3, 1d) is favourite at 10/11 with Ladbrokes. Hopkins has face ten southpaws in his career and knocked out nine of them. And you guessed it, Wright is a southpaw - albeit a very slick southpaw.Despite being 42 and fighting a man seven years his junior Hopkins keeps himself in great shape, is the bigger man and could just take this on points. It won't be a classic but Hopkins is a decent price on the betting exchanges for interest in the early hours.RECOMMENDATIONHopkins to win 2.42 - 2.50 Betfairtop5bet.com
20.07.07 - By Gary Jones: A minor brawl erupted at an earlier weigh-in today for Bernard Hopkins (47-4-1, 32 KOs) and Winky Wright (51-3-1, 25 KOs) when Hopkins, 42, suddenly reached over and pushed Wright, 35, in the face, causing both fighters and their teams to go berserk for a short period of time. Its unclear, however, whether it was publicity stunt on the part Hopkins or if he was actually serious, mainly because he was smiling while he did, as was Wright. Certainly, if this is the more…
By Chuck Johnson, USA TODAY LAS VEGAS — The fight isn’t until Saturday night, but Bernard Hopkins landed the first blow Friday with an open-hand push to Winky Wright’s face, an action that could cost Hopkins a $300,000 fine by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. LAS VEGAS — With a sneaky shot to Winky Wright’s head, Bernard Hopkins started this fight one day early. Hopkins’ openhanded shove to Wright’s forehead sparked a scuffle between entourages Friday after both fighters weighed in at 170 pounds. Such theatrics are old news for brash young fighters, but these two veterans with a combined age of 77 were unlikely candidates to be scrapping outside the ropes. Suffice to say, Bernard Hopkins isn’t impersonating a faith healer. more…
