      Is honesty the best policy?
qWhen life is going along well, there are rarely temptations. You have everything under control and there's no need to cut corners. But as the household budget comes under pressure, you have to keep the cost of essentials like auto insurance under control. No-one wants to risk driving out on the public roads without insurance. Cars are essential to most households. You don't want to be put in the

Well, I guess the meme would technically be the Japanese culture’s value for honesty, and the above story a reflection of such a meme.  Either way, for the Japanese Ministry of Culture, it’s probably a good thing: given the choice of traveling to a country of thieves an

With age and maturity, I have found I don't think I do anything that I would need to lie about, and I have nothing to lose by telling the truth. In fact I have much to gain. In any relationship (marriage, business, friendships, etc.), honesty is one of the most important traits to have. With honesty, you might not always get admiration, but you do get respect for your truthfulness and a clearer conscience. If you want to read the rest of it, click here.

They can abuse their privilege for sure. And what I don't like is when I am trying to help someone then I would find out that the money was spent on something else. Especially as it concerns the search for the "historical Jesus," which Dr. Chopra rightly characterizes as having been "a growth industry and obsession for several decades now," the diagnosis of misguidedness is entirely correct. Take a good hard look at the conclusions of the Jesus Seminar and you will be forced to agree with Luke Timothy Johnson: Once you've succeeded in finding the "historical Jesus," exactly what have you got? Do I vote for suspected steroid users, particularly a couple included in the Mitchell report on Thursday, or do I automatically dismiss their candidacy? Do I vote for guys I personally like, or is that not being objective? Do I vote for a creep or a man who committed suicide? Do I check 10 players, the maximum allowed, or keep it to one or two? Do I go with pitcher Tommy John because they named a surgical procedure after him? A couple of those questions are legitimate, but you really shouldn't need assistance with the others. You shouldn't resolve to check either 1 or 2 players, or 10; you should vote for as many players as you think are deserving of enshrinement. But I also like the idea of small government that stays out of our business, because I think that small government promotes civil rights. So recently I’ve been really thinking a lot about Ron Paul. I don’t agree with all of his positions, like his stance on abortion. But he is so principled and consistent, that it is hard not to like him. Heck, I even donated money to him.I guess the question is how do I feel about this? Out of all of the candidates running, I think I like him the most, from either party. There aren’t really any democrats that excite me.What is wrong with me?Are we about to see the biggest political coalition ever forged?

NO MUSLIMS (OR HONESTY) FOR MCCAIN
America's very own Hez'b'allah (party of God, otherwise known as the GOP) continues on toward its imminent self-destruction with mind-numbing speed and power. First, what the hell has the annointed-one, Mr. Fred Thompson, done since getting in? All the Reagan fans can go home now, the game is over for them. That means a large number of our local young GOPers who seemed to think Fred was Ronnie Raygun's second coming. Your poll numbers paint a different picture, putting Fred down near the Kucinich position in his party primary race. Secondly, Newt has decided he doesn't really want to jump into that boiling pot with Hillary after all. You'll recall Newtie decided to ask his "supporters" to toss $30 million his way as their way of calling him to service. Now, Newtie says he can't run his non-profit organization and an exploratory committee at the same time. Phew! That's a relief for us, a let down for bus and airline companies everywhere expected to sell a large number of

Honesty is not always the best policy
One of the most adorable and endearing things about toddlers is their complete honesty, the lack of pretense, the way they are lost in the moment. Of course as with anything that is extremely adorable and cute it can be a double edged sword and can cut you to the core. Luckily for me I was the recipient of one such an episode. The other night Wife was sitting in the loungeroom with Little Miss and Usurper drying the toddlers hair after a shower. I was in the kitchen doing the husbandly duty of unpacking the clean stuff from the dishwasher and dealing with the dinners detritus. It was then that I overheard the following exchange: Wife: ‘Come here sweety and we’ll dry your hair.’ Little Miss: ‘I have lots and lots of hair!’ Wife: ‘Yes you do, what about mummy?’ Little Miss: ‘Lots of hair!’ Wife: ‘How about Usurper?’ Little Miss: ‘Usurper has a little hair’ Wife: ‘And Daddy?’ There was a very long pa

When honesty pays off - Personal Loan Tips
I guess we have all done it, fudged the figures, told someone they look great in that when they don't or promised to visit your grandma when you had no intention, but sometimes being honest with your lender can really pay off.If you are honest about why you really want your loan your bank / financial instutution will sometimes be able to offer you a different loan that might better suit your needs and circumstances. These specialised loans can often save you money on the regular "personal loan" product in which all kinds of things are lumped together.

Honesty is still the best policy
Once a general manager wanted to test his people who had come from all over India, about their values of life.He announced that in their seminar folder, there is PVC pouch and in it there is a seed. When they return , they must put it in a good soil in a pot and look after it very well.He would hold a competition in the next year's seminar and that the best plants would be awarded suitably.Everyone did what was told to him. A year passed quickly. And next year in a big hall, there were hundreds of pots and a great variety of plants-a great scene. Except one pot in which the soil was there and no plant! The owner was standing quietly and seemingly ashamed of himself! The general manager called him on the stage. He asked him what happened and he told him the truth. He planted the seed which he was given – and did that was to be done- but nothing happened! The general manager declared him the winner!Everyone was shocked. It was announced, "Gentlemen! The seeds I gave you were boiled seed

      Honesty and Integrity...
...the issues that carry the day. The following is a splendid blog post that deserves sharing. How and Why I Picked My 2008 CandidateI am not someone who, by nature, trusts those in power. Power corrupts people; I have seen this to be true. The very first requirement for me to ever get excited about a political candidate or office holder is they MUST have integrity and a sense of duty to the people. It is frustrating watching so many national politicians take turns going down in flames, their dirty little secrets out: bribes and corruption; moral scandals; flip-flopping and selling their votes. It's tough to find real integrity. I think maybe Obama has it. Not completely sure, but I'm trusting his record and his words for now. I think McCain has done a good job voting his conscience from what I can see. But the man that has stood out to me the most in the integrity department this election is, far and away, Ron Paul. I respect Obama, but I don't agree with him on many socialist ideas

      Billy Joel - Honesty 2006
Loading... If you search for tenderness it isn’t hard to find. You can have the love you need to live. But if you look for truthfulness You might just as well be blind. It always seems to be so hard to give. Honesty is such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue. Honesty is hardly ever heard. And mostly what I need from you. I can always find someone to say they sympathize. If I wear my heart out on my sleeve. But I don’t want some pretty face to tell me pretty lies. All I want is someone to believe. Honesty is such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue. Honesty is hardly ever heard. And mostly what I need from you. I can find a lover. I can find a friend. I can have security until the bitter end. Anyone can comfort me with promises again. I know, I know. When I’m deep inside of me don’t be too concerned. I won’t as for nothin’ while I’m gone. But when I want sincerity tell me where else can I turn. Because you’re the one I depend upon. Hon

Sincerity; honesty and wearing a mask
When we talking about sincerity, most of the time is inside out. Meaning that we treat people with sincerity. Be sincere with other. But then again, genuine sincerity and honesty can only be achieved through  self sincerity and honesty. I never cheated anybody in my live and don’t intend to start now, but I was far from being honest with myself. Sacrifice in the shallow sense has a new name, that is insincerity and dishonesty toward oneself. Being good and always bow to other is a mask in disguise, we always mistaken that for self sacrifice. Wearing a mask in front of other is not limited to manipulating or deceiving others, it could in fact be deceiving myself and the damage by self deceiving isn’t any less than trying to play mind games with others.

Honesty Essential for TrustIn relationships truth counts. Be honest with your partner about your thoughts, opinions and feelings. Especially your feelings. Being honest however, is not an excuse to say mean, demeaning or rude things to or about your partner.Honesty is the foundation of trust. Trust is the mortar of the relationship. Dishonesty chips away at the mortar and will, if continued, destroy the relationship."You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you don't trust enough. Honesty (joke)
A distinguished young woman on a flight from Switzerland      asked the priest beside her, "Father, May I ask a favor? " "Of course. What may I do for you?"   "Well, I bought an expensive! Electronic hair dryer that is well over the Customs limits and I'm afraid they'll confiscate it. Is there any way you could carry it through Customs for me? Under your robes perhaps?"   "I would love to help you, dear, but I must warn you:  I will not lie."   "With your honest face, Father, no one will question you."   When they got to Customs, she let the priest go ahead of her. The official asked, "Father, do you have anything to declare?"   "From the top of my head down to my waist, I have nothing to declare."   The official thought this answer strange, so asked, "And what do you have to declare from your waist to the floor?"

      Attorney General "Honesty' Claim
The Attorney General, Lord Goldsmith, has sought to reassure MPs that any dealings he has with the Crown Prosecution Service over the cash for honours police investigation will be fair and square and made public. He will, in short, be open and honest. This is from politics.co.uk:- Lord Goldsmith has been criticised for refusing to stand back from the Scotland Yard probe, amid concerns that his close relationship with the prime minister - who has been questioned twice by police - represents a conflict of interest. … “My duty is to the law and not to party politics and party loyalties,” he told MPs. He confirmed that if asked for his advice on the cash-for-honours probe - the attorney general is generally consulted in corruption probes - he would ask for independent advice. “In the event that there was no prosecution I would make public that advice. It would be transparent. People would know what the reasons were and why,” he said, adding it would be

      Honesty: Presidential Style
So, when you are lecturing your children about being honest and truthful, can you hold up the President as a positive role model? Is it right to let the ends justify the means? When it comes to integrity, does the presidency require that individuals slip past the ethical line so they can operate? Perhaps it the following kind of logic that got the GOP such a giant kick in the ass on Tuesday: Q Tony, on the Secretary Rumsfeld resignation, can you talk about the conversation the President had on November 1st, with various reporters. He told one of them, he was asked, “So you’re expecting Rumsfeld — Secretary Rumsfeld to stay on for the rest of your time here?” President Bush replied, “Yes, I am.” Was that an honest statement? MR. SNOW: Well, let me put it this way: At that point, although there had been conversations about how to proceed at the Pentagon, there had been no job offer to Bob Gates, there was no clear sense that there would be a
