Before I was a Mommy Homework
Because I've always had trouble turning assignments in on time... Before I was a mommy: I could mainline tequila and sleep off my hangover 'til 6pm the next day. I put on makeup and let my hair hand long down my back. I spent my extra cash on concert tickets and happy hour beers instead of Dora dolls and Backyardigan DVDs I didn't know who Dora or the Backyardigans were. I was a night owl.

      Will iPhone Do Your Homework?
Those days, when student needed only a paper and a pen to study, are gone. Nowadays we have varieties of gadgets which help us in every day life. Apple iPhone is the new weapon of education, if I can say so. At least one university will use it to receive homework alerts, answer in-class surveys and quizzes, get directions to their professors' offices and check their meal and account balances.Abilene Christian University (ACU), in Texas, is the place where it will happen. This university will be providing all of its first year students one of Apple's new iPhone mobiles or the wireless-enabled iPod touch. The university's IT department has developed "more than 15 other useful web applications" for use on the gadgets. They are not only providing cutting-edge technology tools to their incoming s

      1. Do you remember a particular incident or moment from your own childhood that has influenced the way you raise your offspring? I am quite happy with the way I was brought up, so there's not much I want to change. My mom never just said "No" or "Because I said so". She always gave us a reason for why we weren't allowed to do something. So I'd like to keep that. One thing I will try change

Attention teachers of America: Dogs do in fact, eat homework
Being the skeptic that I am, I have never bought that "the dog ate my homework" excuse...until now, that is. My little Scout Muffin Courtney has made me a believer. What you see before you is a sneak peek of a section, or rather pieces of a section, of my "Between Us Girls" magabook for tween girls, due to release this summer. My Publisher had sent the section of color page proofs with the simple instructions to look over the images for approval. You think Scout has a problem with the image on this page? Note to self: Don't leave manuscript on floor next to writing chair. And yes, in case you're wondering about the mangled bear in the photo, it used to be a cute Hallmark Christmas bear in a previous life. He sat peacefully on my sofa during the holidays minding his own little business. App

      Homework Done!
It took all week but I did get my maedeup homework done. I think the light green maedeup will be anecklace eventually. The bottom is a new knot combination and this is as far as the teacher took us last Saturday. By the way, I am the only student that needs paperclips while contructing maedeup. The knots come loose as you make additional knots so I thought this was a great idea to keep that from happening. The earrings are using the Gajibangseok Maedeup and they were actually due last week. The cellphone charm is using the maedeup we learned last week. I still need to find out the name of it.I forgot to mention the surprise I received last week at class. Our regular teacher was gone so wewe taught by the maedeup shop owner. We were working on a knot when she gave me and my two Koreangirlfri

      Maedeup Homework
This is called Gajibangseok Maedeup (Eggplant Knot). I have never seen such a bunch of grumbling Koreans than after completing this knot. It was pretty complicated and the tightening of the knot was a nightmare. I thought the discontent had to do with the actual knot but it was the shape of the maedeup that upset everyone. My Korean girlfriends told me that no one liked the shape of this maedeup. It was too round. Round is bad, oval is better. I learned that some Korean women have plastic surgery to have their jaws shaved so their faces appear more oval. I told them it reminded me of a baby's face and I thought it was cute.I need to find out the name of this maedeup but it was similar to the Gajibangseok Maedeup, but with ears. Can you tell which one is mine and which one is the teacher's

A p.s to my post (Homework - Cahia de Vie)
I came across an interesting website called has a section called Your Guide to the French Education System. Full of interesting facts. Now for interesting true stories I suggest you check out this: has a section called: Parents in France/French parentsCould hardly believe what I was reading concerning the maitresse in the maternelle section of this school:There are also many things said about his teacher, not just from English people, one of which was that something was stolen from class (by 3 year old) and she sat them all down and told them she was going to the police and they were thieves, she had most of them in tears even when their parents came to collect them, and many didn't want to go back! So far we have had a positive experience with our local Maternelle but I would really be i

Homework night - Cahia de Vie
Sunday evening is homework night at our house - well not really homework as such but my son, who is 3 and a half, sits down with me and his cahia de vie.Théo is in the petite section at Maternelle and each Sunday we sit down with his cahia de vie and review his weeks work, look at the announcements and then fill in a couple of pages of things he has been doing of interest over that weekend with family and/or friends. If you have anything especially exciting to report then you bring it to the teachers attention on the Monday morning and your child then talks about it to the class. What a system - fantastic. It bridges the gap between his school life and home life in an interesting and simple fashion. Your child also gets an opportunity at public speaking at a very early age! Furthermore, as

Homework Strategies by Karen L. Alaniz
Making It Work Continued from Laying the Foundation for Success: When a child has a routine of doing his homework at the same place and same time every day, it will become routine. Choose a place that is free from distractions such as a desk in his bedroom or the kitchen table. You should also choose a time that is free from distractions. If his favorite television show is on, he'll be distracted. So choose a time prior to a desired activity and use it as a reinforcer. If there is a time when the house is relatively quiet, have that be his homework time. If there is a time when your home is alive with activity, stay away from it. With his folder in front of him, all he has to do now is take out his homework and complete it. And when he is done, he can make an "x” through the due date on his calendar. The calendar on the refrigerator serves as a simple reminder for you, his parent. Teach your child that he is not done with his homework until he has marked it off on

Homework: Laying the Foundation for Success by Karen L. Alaniz
“Let’s go through your backpack.” I said innocently. Zachary tossed the backpack on the sofa and headed for the kitchen. Unzipping the bag, I reached in and pulled out the contents. Papers, library books and construction paper projects fell to the floor. “Zach.” I said. “Come back here and help me with this.” Zach hopped across the floor to me. “Oh yeah.” He said shuffling through a pile of construction paper. “I remember this. I need to do a project about insects.” “A project?” I asked. “What project?” But he was on to another pile. “And this math packet-I can’t remember when it’s due.” He said tossing it aside. Zach has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) so organization isn’t his strong-suit. Most of this was avoidable, if only I’d taken the time to lay the groundwork for a new school year. So with Zach by my side, we went through the papers and right away I could see some key problems. But more importantly

      A Homework Question
Q: With all the hub-bub of the holiday season and the changes in routine, how can I get my child to focus on schoolwork these next two weeks? A: It’s that time of year when we are all distracted from our regular routines by the holidays. There is excitement in the air as we plan our festivities and celebrate our traditions. It is no wonder your energetic, sensitive kid will be drawn toward stimulation and activity and away from dreaded homework. Kindly empathize by letting her know that you understand how hard it is to stay focused this time of year. Give her a reassuring hug reminding her how capable she is of successfully completing her work. Help to keep her school and homework routines as consistent as possible. Acknowledge her hard work with a hug, words of affirmation (you completed your work in record time!) every day. Take her out to a movie, bookstore, activity or event she chooses at the end of the two weeks as a way of acknowledging her success. If she is having

do your homework on your credit status
Payday advances were begun several years ago as an answer to the banks and other lending institutions not lending small amounts of money for short periods of time. These companies have hit a special niche in the marketplace that is not easily filled by any other type of lending institution. Although a bank loan may hold a cheaper interest rate, many people, rather because of bad credit or otherwise, cannot secure a small loan at the bank. These days, payday advance companies are easy to find, but you have to make sure that the company you plan to use is a legitimate company. Check the references and see if you can find anyone who has used them before so you can get their views. If you are unsure of a payday loan company in your area, go online and search, there are many out on the web that can approve your loan in very little time. Some will require you faxing documents to them for approval, some are Faxless Payday Loans. Some will have cheaper interest rates than others. Do you
