      Happy Hitching!
Camping on of the most touristic hot-spots in Europe, waking up, looking up and seeing the Eiffel Tower enlightened by the beams of the early morning sun. The first European Hitchhiking Day was an amazing success. I am generally not so easily thrilled by gatherings as they ordinarily tend to be much of the same, but [...]

Ever heard of hitching a ride in an air craft?
Well two innovative hitch hikers actually did it. They hitched a ride in an airline. Two members of the Vilinius Hitch-Hiking Club, Lithuania, made history on March 19, 2008 by being the first to... [[ This is a content summary only. The Scoop on the Hitching Post
Some of this — perhaps most of this — is going to sound very egocentric.  It’s going to sound like I’m tooting my own horn, and MEMEMEMELOOKATME, and very much like I think I’m the hottest thing since Paris Hilton.  It’s going to sound like that because I am, you’d better, and I AM HOTTER THAN PARIS HILTON. Our review went off beautifully.  I had heard so many war horror stories of these things gone awry that I was prepared for any amount of disaster; for instance, I probably wouldn’t have flinched if a plague of locusts came through or if I touched a General.  Regardless, at the end of the day, we all decided a little celebration was in order. Our small little group headed to The Hitching Post with a reservation for just us, but the minute we walked in, we saw a large table of our company’s brass.  The schmoozing thing to do would’ve been to go eat with them, but I was tired and didn’t want to be entertaining

Hartley Ostini Hitching Post 2005 St. Rita's Earth Pinot Noir
Owners Frank Ostini and Gray HartleyThursday night we tried a new Pinot Noir from Hartley Ostini Hitching Post Winery. The 2005 St. Rita's Earth, Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir. The grapes for this wine comes from Sanford & Benedict, Fiddlestix and Clos Pepe Vineyards. Medium dark red, cloudy color in the glass. On the nose red cherries and not overly ripe, dark fruit, with a hint of vanilla. On the palate the red cherry follows through with blue plum and berries. Medium acidity and some what firm tannins, in play with the fruit, gives this wine a long savory finish. We really enjoyed this wine, but I would give it some time in the bottle, if even just 6 months or so, to settle down a little bit, and I think it will show even better.Find it at Wine-Searcher.com from $29.99. Vote for my blog here and help me reach top 10 on The Blog TopI am now in top 11!

Hitching Post and Long Meadow Ranch
Tonight we had two really good wines with dinner. We started with the Hartley Ostini Hitching Post 2004 Fiddlestix Santa rita Hills Pinot Noir. I have been drinking Pinots from Hitching Post for about 5 years now but this was my first time trying their Fiddlestix. Dark, dense ruby color in the glass. Jammy, ripe black berries and cherries with a hint of spice. A nice long finish. This is one of the most fruit forward Pinots that Hitching Post makes and I really enjoyed it. Only 220 cases made, you can find it on Winezap.com from $48.95.The second bottle we open was the Long Meadow Ranch 2003 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Long Meadow Ranch is located in the Mayacamas Mountains high above the valley floor of Napa Valley. They not only produce wine, but also olive oil, grass-fed beef, eggs, organic vegetables etc. Visit their website to find out more. The 2003 Cab has dark fruit and berries on the nose with some tobacco and tea.On the plate the dark fruit is more restrained with some bla

Michigan vs Ohio State: Hitching a Ride On The Hype Train
We're going to try our best to help feed into the buildup for one of the biggest college football games of the season. Saturday, the Michigan Wolverines -- ranked #2 -- take on the top ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Game aside, fans and alums for both schools have been anticipating this matchup for weeks and the spill-over is generating much ado about one of the greatest rivalries of all-time. The Jaunt has been examining school and neighborhood behaviors and we are here to present a snapshot of the intense "fansanity" that has ensued. You know a game has hit "when worlds collide" proportions when fans are issued a list of safety tips when traveling to the opposing team's territory. Speaking of Ohio State territory. Some dude actually took approximately 2000 hours out of his sex-less life to build a replica of Ohio Stadium made completely out of Legos.Michigan fans can avoid bodily harm altogether by seeking refuge at the Pepsi Stadium Club in Fifth Third Ballpark -- home of the West Mic
