I want to get hickeys from Hikki, hi hi hi. :) Yes, she's one famous and successful Japanese babe, if you ask me. She's a hot diva with legions upon legions of fans in Japan and across the seas. Being so, she was often considered as Britney Spears counterpart in Japan. The only thing she doesn't agree with the comparison is that she keeps her clothes on (and she isn't a white trash - no such

EMI music Japan released a 35 second snippet of a song from Hikaru Utada's forthcoming fifth studio Japanese album Heart station and here it is...Forget fighting the blues, Hikaru looks more like she's fighting a terminal disease. Ever since "Flavor of life" Hikaru has been looking really washed out and ill, and also like a boy. I still love her and want her to be my wife though. That ain't nothing a little make up can't fix.I've heard "Fight the blues" in full and I can tell you is that the song is awesome and if you like the snippet above, you'll love the full length song. It switches up in all the right places and per usual Hikaru sounds great. I loved the whole Euro pop vibe she exhibited on Ultra blue, so I'm down for more of that on Heart station. It's not known whether "Fight the bl

Hikaru features on a remix of Ne-Yo's "Do you" which is now available on iTunes Japan. Whilst Ne-Yo and Hikaru teaming up may sound like an odd thing, it's actually not all that odd. Hikaru has 2 recording contracts with 2 different labels: EMI music through which she releases her Japanese albums and Island records Def Jam through which she releases her English albums. Island records Def Jam is the one and same label that Ne-Yo and also Rihanna are signed to. Hikaru is currently in the planning stages of recording a follow up to her "Exodus" to release in the West and Def Jam are working to make Ne-Yo more of an international star. So this collaboration is the perfect way to help out both artists.I love Hikaru Utada. I plan to go to Japan next year to stalk her, make her love me, get her pregnant, then trap her into a marriage for the sake of our unborn child. But she sounds wierd on this remix of "Do you". Mary J. Blige also featured on a remix of this song and sounded brilliant on
"Storyboard Sketches - Utada Hikaru"Completed: 2004Sharpee on paperThese are the rest of the drawings from the storyboard. The next time I post, I will be posting the portraits I have done in the past - ranging from artwork of junior high to my college senior year art show. Keep visiting!Shannon
"Storyboard Sketches - Utada Hikaru"Completed: 2004Sharpee on paperThese are a couple of sketches I completed before I did my paintings. You can see from some of them where the original thoughts started. Tomorrow will be my last set of sketches for this subject, and then I will be posting more artwork from my past on a different subject! My big plans for this blog, especially for next year, involve starting to explore the different jobs related to the arts, and different mediums, styles, and artists. I will also be starting to figure out which art festivals I will be attending next year! Keep visiting for more news!Shannon
"Utada Hikaru Art Noveau Sketch"Completed: 2005pencil on paperI drew this for a painting I was going to complete, but never got around to in college. When I first started studying art, I used to love the intricate details involved in Art Noveau. (I used to draw some pretty crazy designs that I will post later!) Well I hope my viewers like this one!Shannon
"Utada Hikaru 8" Completed: 2004oil on canvasThis photo of this piece is not the best quality. The reason for that is, I took the picture when I was in the Ocean City Boardwalk Art Festival. I took a picture of this painting with slide film (not really knowing the set up to get accurate colors at the time), and ended up selling this piece to a reporter at the art show. This was the first painting I ever sold, and it was one of my favorites (talk about hard to part with!). This was the first painting I completed of the singer, and I love the movement and looseness that I feel by looking at it. I hope that all my viewers enjoy it! Back to creating!Shannon
"Utada Hikaru 7"Completed: 2004oil on canvasThis painting was a kind of funky one that I took from one of Utada Hikaru's songs. The original idea (the storyboarding one my professor didn't like) involved what I imagined what a music video might be like for the song. (I had never seen the music video before). I imagined a kind of fantasy like opening with colors changing and the images of her changing. So, some the paintings I already posted fall into what I was inspired by. Obviously, this is not a realistic rendition of her, but that is not what I was going for. My favorite part to paint was the hair. I separated them into pieces and added different colors. As far as I know, there is only one more portrait of Utada Hikaru that I have done, which I will post tomorrow. (I have so much art in my room in folders and everything, that another artwork of the singer might pop up that I forgot about). I did just remember that I drew some sketches of this singer as well, so I will
"Utada Hikaru 6"Completed: 2006colored pencil on paperHere is the colored pencil piece I created after the drawing from yesterday. It was my first experience using colored pencils for a portrait, and I tend to exaggerate the colors for impact in my portraits. (You will see a lot of color in the portraits I paint, which I will post soon!) The only reason I wasn't as crazy about this piece is because of how dark I made the lines and shadows under her eye and lips. It made her look way older than she really is. Other than that, I'm pretty pleased with how this came out. Hope you enjoy seeing my artworks from my past so far!Shannon
Here’s how it works: Japanese kids start a fad. Westerners then laugh at them for being ridiculous. Then we try it. Then we obsess. Then we’re left with a worthless collection of Pokemon cards while they’re off starting something new.
Virtual pets on keychains that have to be fed once an hour? Check. Cartoons featuring teenagers in bizarre hairstyles that battle giant robots with storylines that make absolutely no sense but look very cool? All over it.
So what’s the next big thing coming out of Japan? Shiny balls.
Hikaru Dorodango are balls of mud that have been smoothed by hand, dried, and turned into perfect spheres that look like marble. Seriously.
Japanese children have pounced upon this almost forgotten art form that was recently saved from extinction by a single professor and an enthusiastic media, and is currently rocking the Land of the Rising Sun to the point where the West is (again) belatedly catching on.
The technique involves finding different kinds of dirt, addin
"Utada Hikaru 5"Completed: 2006pencil on paperThis is a drawing I created for a colored pencil piece. (I actually like the drawing better before I completed the final piece!) The dark area was actually watercolor paint, but I stopped painting it when I decided to use the drawing as a study for another piece. (I just created a grayscale image so that the watercolor paint would not show when I posted this). I will post the colored pencil drawing from this study tomorrow!Shannon
"Utada Hikaru 4"Completed: 2004oil on canvasThis is another portrait I painted for the series of the singer. I kind of forget what I was thinking when I painted this. I remember wanting to create an extreme glow in the face. It kind of reminds me of candlelight and the night sky. I had gone through a couple of portrait paintings that used other colors instead of skin tones. (I have a self-portrait of me using various colors that I will post with my other self portraits). Hope you have enjoyed a view into my past artworks so far....there are probably about 200-300 artworks of various mediums and subjects, so I will be posting them for awhile!Shannon
"Utada Hikaru 3"Completed: 2004oil on canvasThis was a quick oil study I painted in my college painting class. I had been trying to create portraits that were realistic, but they were ending up very stiff. My professor told me to use a bigger brush and to loosen up my technique. Although the proportions were a bit off and it wasn't photorealism, I think this study allowed me to relax a little while painting and actually enjoy the process of it. Thanks for taking the time to take a look!Shannon
"Utada Hikaru 2"Completed: 2005oil on canvasThis is another portrait I painted of the singer, Utada Hikaru, while I was in college. This one was interesting, because it was one of my first attempts at painting potraits realistically. Of course, there were things I still needed to learn, (and I still do!) but I think that's the beauty of seeing the artworks I have created in the past. This helps me grow and I think it's always fun for other people to see how an artist started creating their own artworks! Thanks for visiting!Shannon
"Utada Hikaru"Completed: 2004oil (applied with palette knife) on canvasThis portrait was painted while I was completing a series in my Painting III class in college. My professor at the time wasn't too crazy about my inspiration from a song of this musical artist for my series of paintings. I was almost painting storyboards at first, and he REALLY did not like that at all. After being pushed to stick to the portraits of the musical artist, but straying from the storyboard idea, I was left with experimenting different ways of portraiture. I have to say that this painting was one of the most liberating portraits I have ever done. Never knowing what to even do with a palette knife, I explored the techniques that could be used by applying paint in this new way. I was very intrigued by the layers of paint and the thickness it created. (If you click on the image to enlarge, you can see the different marks left by the knife). There are a couple more portraits I attempted of this singer that

Wenn ich japanische Popmusik (oder wie auch immer man die Schublade beschriften möchte, damit man den Geschmack danach ausrichten kann) empfehlen müsste.. ich würde ganz klar Utada Hikaru empfehlen.
