Missy Higgins has a haunting new song in Where I Stood. The simple melody gets into your soul. If you have ever been madly in love and stop to listen to the lyrics be straight, gay, or otherwise they will strike a chord with you too.

Mary Higgins Clark is definitely a great thriller writer. The story in I Heard That Song Before is built in a simple classic thriller's setting: an old mansion, a handsome rich man, a new bride, an old care taker, a loyal servant, a stepmother, a stepbrother, and a few murders.
Although the setting is very classical, she has the skill of making the story very interesting with many plots. A good thriller will let readers ponder who is the killer until the last minute. This definitely fit into this criterion.
I read the audio book version, when commuting between work and home - only 20 min max per trip. Every time when I arrive at my destination, I couldn't make myself leave my car, and I couldn't wait to drive again so that I could continue the story. It is that engaging! A true page turner!
The narrator, Jan Maxwell, is also a great performer. I have to admit my mistake being prejudice on female narrator earlier. In my other book review, I was so pleased with the audio

In keeping with the current theme of broadening my horizons and reviewing music Im not entirely familiar with, I popped Missy Higginss On A Clear Night into my player and prepared for a new experience. Not only did the Australian singer/songwriter deliver a uniquely satisfying first impression, but also a disc Im going to be listening to for a very long time.
I’ve hardly been outside my room in days
‘Cause I don’t feel that I deserve the sunshine’s rays
And darkness helped until the whiskey wore away

The lost lake is not a TV series, like the island mentioned before. It is reality. Apparently, a lake in the Bernardo O’Higgins National Park in the Chilean Andes has completely disappeared, and no one has a clue where it went. Now scientists have another riddle to solve and I think I just found another interesting travel destination. I haven’t thought much about Chile so far, but the Andes and the proximity to the easter islands and the south pole make this country quite an interesting travel destination.

Rep. Brian Higgins is calling for a housecleaning at the New York Power Authority.
The authority’s governing board and senior staff should resign en masse so that Gov. Eliot L. Spitzer can appoint a reformminded team, Higgins said Tuesday.
Suddenly, Brian Higgins is trying to portray himself as David, willing to try to slay Goliath — the Power Authority. His actions, however, directly contributed to the 50 year license the Power Authority was granted in February.
In his quest to secure funding for the waterfront, Brian Higgins sold out to the Power Authority. He secured about $2.5 million per year that enabled him to portray himself as a hero of the people and to increase his political influence in the waterfront development. Instead of the money being used prudently, it went to a Higgins preferred quasi-government bureaucracy known as the Erie County Harbor Development Corporation. The ECHDC is now embroiled in controversy for trying to steamroll pla
Last October when the New York State Comptroller’s audit of the Power Authority was released, I pointed out how the people of this region are being screwed. Here’s a few highlights:
NYSPA donates $53 million to the State in 2004
NYSPA has $49 million in other expenses in 2004.
NYSPA donates $106 million to the State in 2005.
The Niagara Power Project accounted for 284% of the NYSPA profit for 2005, effectively subsidizing the other 16 power plants operated by the NYSPA.
2004 net revenues (profit) for the Niagara Power Project were $112,243,536.
2005 net revenues for the Niagara Project were $165,837,784.

The Buffalo News did a more in depth study of the fiscal practices of the New York State Power Authority and the results are even more startling.
The state-operated hydropower plant north of Niagara Falls generates enough low-cost electricity to power 2.5 million homes. But more than half of that power is shipped out o
