Not only do I support this protest, I feel it’s necessary to try all we can [...]

Make the best of where you are and do your best to line up your Energy from where you are, because any bit of struggle or any bit of regret only holds your cork under the water and doesn't allow you to connect with the Energy that would allow anything to improve. Logan Hicks is a stencil artist with an obsession and love for the grit of urban landscapes. Hicks left college to start a screenprinting business, and after a move to San Diego left him without access to the equipment required to continue printing t-shirts for "lame" companies, he found a love for stencils. Now based in Los Angeles, he finds himself sustained by shows, commissions and what some may consider a fairly insane scheduling philosophy.

New episode of the Dark Defender series has been out for a day now, and it still keeps up with the same theme and styler. Pretty much as good as the first episode.
What I want now is more episodes of the Dark Defender episodes and this time not only on Dexters killings we have seen before on television, but other of his killings before the first season. We know that the first episode of season 1 was not directly his first kill. I would prefer a twist of the Dark Defender episodes which focuses on the Dexters time and killings before the TV-series timeline.
This is an oldie, but he’s still hilarious. Revelations was recorded at the Dominion Theatre in London in 1993.
His comments about LA are hilarious! If you live in or have ever been to California, you’ll agree. Speaking of California, my thoughts go out to those affected by the fires. This is a great state, isn’t [...]

I like Stephen Hicks. I lectured at one of his classes at Rockford College a few years ago and to thank me he gave he a signed copy of "Postmodernism" and took me out for a great meal. Over dinner we discussed my theory of art because he said he was working on a book on the subject. I had thought that we shared the same views. Until today. This morning I read his essay "Post-Postmodern Art" and while I agree with much of what he says the author lumps Edward Hopper in with those artists who turned from representing reality to painting abstractionist garbage. His comment on the artist is that "[Postmodern Art] is Edward Hopper's emotionally out-of-tune men and women in bland, worn settings."He could not be more wrong. If he had read about the artist he would know that Hopper had strong disagreements with the modern art world and saw himself as leading the charge against it. He even attended artists protest groups who according to to his wife "banded together to preserve [the] existence o

This was in my "in box" this morning from Abraham-Hicks: We're asking you to trust in the Well-being. In optimism there is magic. In pessimism there is nothing. In positive expectation there is thrill and success. In pessimism or awareness of what is not wanted, there is nothing. What you're wanting to do is redefine your relationship with the Stream. We do not ask you to look at something that is black and call it white. We do not ask you to see something that is not as you want it to be and pretend that it is. What we ask you to do is practice moving your gaze. Practice changing your perspective. Practice talking to different people. Practice going to new places. Practice sifting through the data for the things that feel like you want to feel and using those things to cause you to feel a familiar place. In other words, we want you to feel familiar in your joy. Familiar in your positive expectation, familiar in your knowing that all is well, because this Universe will knock itself o

Jack Hicks: Cold War vets did their partColumn by Jack HicksIt takes more than a little effort to locate the unobtrusive grave of Robert C. Von Luehrte in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. And if you travel to Washington, or other sites where military veterans are honored, you may never see a commemoration to America's Cold War warriors. If ever a group was largely forgotten, it's those soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen who served their country between World War II and the Korean War, or between Korea and the Vietnam War.During a total period of about 17 years, millions of men, and women, served in the armed forces. They were the real or perceived barrier to worldwide domination by the Soviet Union and others in the Communist Bloc. The warriors were draftees, and those who joined the several branches of the service, including reservists who spent various lengths of time on active duty. Many who joined did so to "get it over with," because the draft was inevitable.Sometimes, especial

Jihadist David Hicks is only getting a nine-month sentence (via Jihad Watch):A US military tribunal has sentenced confessed terrorism supporter David Hicks to seven years in jail but he will only have to serve nine months. The tribunal judge accepted Hicks's guilty plea as part of an agreement that limited his sentence to seven years in prison, in addition to the five years he has been held at the US base at Guantanamo Bay.The deal allowed all but nine months of the sentence to be be suspended.Hicks will serve the sentence in Australia and the United States must send him home by May 29.[...]Lead prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Chenail had told the tribunal Hicks had knowingly sought out an organisation bent on attacking the United States and acquired dangerous skills. The prosecutor, Marine Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Chenail, says Hicks freely joined a band of killers who slaughtered innocents."We are face to face with the enemy," he said. And if indeed, why is he only getting so littl
The Australian-born Taliban collaborator and Muslim convert has admitted his guilt:GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba (AP) - An Australian accused of helping the Taliban fight the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan pleaded guilty Monday to providing material support for terrorism, a step lawyers said would assure his transfer from Guantanamo to a prison in Australia.David Hicks, 31, was the first of hundreds of Guantanamo detainees to make such a plea at this U.S. Navy base since the first terror suspects were brought here in 2002. [...]According to the charge sheet, Hicks spent weeks trying to join the fight in Afghanistan alongside the Taliban against invading U.S. forces and their Northern Alliance allies, the charge sheet says, but the Taliban's lines collapsed barely two hours after he reached the front. He was armed with grenades and an assault rifle and his menial assignments along the way included guarding a tank. It's time now to put him in the clink for life.
The least you can say about Taylor Hicks is that he's not like prior American Idol champs: he already had almost a decade of gigging in bars when he won the fifth season in 2006, complete with songwriting experience, an ability to play harmonica and guitar, and a pair of self-released albums. On his major-label debut, the Silver Fox settles in a plush, comfortable sound framed by vintage-sounding soul and R&B, as well as classic rock--it's comfort food for the ears. The one thing that's not here is Hicks's first single, "Do I Make You Proud." Other than that, the songs are a well-balanced mix of oldies (Marvin Gaye's "Wherever I Lay My Hat"), newbies that sound like oldies (Rob Thomas's "Dream Myself Awake," Bryan Adams's "The Right Place"), the obligatory Diane Warren ballad ("Places I've Been"), and some party-fun anthems ("The Runaround," "Heaven Knows"). This last track actually is one of two paying tribute to Hicks's patron saint, Ray Charles--it references the piano riff
Philosopher and professor Dr. Stephen Hicks has been awarded a $925,000 grant from the BB&T Foundation to create a new Center for Ethics and Entrepreneurship at Rockford College. The CEO of BB&T is an objectivist as is Mr. Hicks. Just like me, we should all be banking at BB&T.As a reminder I lectured Mr. Hicks' class last year and then he took me out to eat. We had a great time catching up on what is going on in the objectivist and libertarian movements.Congratulations to Stephen.
