I’m about to reveal a little-known Candy Addict secret about myself, something that only my three non-judgmental roommates have become privy to over the course of our mulit-year cohabitation. Late at night, to quell a raging chocolate craving, I have been known to whip up a little chocolate concoction of equal parts cocoa powder, [...]
You may have noticed that we here at Candy Addict go a little nuts over the Hershey’s Limited Edition Kisses. Well, a good friend of mine recently went to Hawaii, and she brought back a bag of the Hershey’s Kisses with Macadamia Nuts. I haven’t quite figured out if these are limited edition or simply [...]
A recent visit to London’s Cyberandy came with more than simple sugar rush; it also came with a jolt when my eyes spied a range of fairtrade, organic chocolate imported from Austria.
With labels announcing such exotic flavours as “Bacon Bits”, “Tofu and Sake”, “Banana Curry”, “Beetroot and Galangal”, “Candied Cranberries and Ceps” and “Lemon Polenta”, [...]

Recently, I’ve gotten the relatively rare opportunity to taste and review a number of American products (thanks Sera!) and I’ve realized a few things. For instance, eating pretzels as candy is a very US-based food phenomenon. Products like the Pretzel Pete Chocolate Peanut Butter Gems, large pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate and rolled in [...]

I’m always excited to see a new version of Hershey’s Kisses using white chocolate since I’m a huge fan of the stuff. I remember when Hugs first premiered back during my childhood and I was so excited to have white chocolate stripes in Kiss form. I couldn’t wait to try them. Had I known Hershey’s [...]

The secret of a good post thats to be read online must satisfy two basic things.1. Should be concise.2. Should have a very unique introduction. Something that hooks the readers' attention. We may very well throw the first suggestion in the trash. This is a LONG post. So, most of you will be turned off by its length and close this window...unless I start out with something that intrigues you.Honestly, its been nearly 3 weeks since I last wrote anything, and may have got a bit rusty. I tried writing an intro over 22 times, each time typing it, deleting it, typing it again, deleting it...so on.Finally I came up with the perfect intro. Here goes.Ahem.Exams went ok. Went to jodhpur. Lived in a desert. Imagined a 50-foot scorpion. Came back. Math exam sucked. Going to Singapore to study multimedi
Ms. Place, we'll certainly miss you this week. While you pursue more academic endeavors, let me get on down to dishin' Project Runway 4. I'll try to make you proud.Don’t get me wrong. I love the wacky “non-traditional material” episodes of PR like the ones using the scraps from the recycling center or the designers’ rooms, but I’m kinda disgusted by the commercialism of product placement. They cram L'Oreal, BlueFly, and Saturn down our throats, but when a brand, like Hershey's, that has nothing to do with fashion takes over the episode, it's just...well, distasteful. If they head to the Disney store next season, I’ll hurl.Putting my cynicism aside, I enjoyed the designers’ creations and reveled in their quirky antics. Plus, any episode in which Tim Gunn says, “maxipad,”

There were only two reasons my sister and I went grocery shopping with my mother. One: we were kids and we had no choice, and two: if we didn’t smack each other, fight over the lunchbox merits of Shark Bites vs. Fruit Wrinkles, or knock down an entire display of Pop-Tarts while playing “Supermarket Sweep,” we’d usually get to pick out a candy bar on our way through the checkout aisle.
My sister was predictable: she always went with Ouch! brand bubble gum. “It’s band-aids, but gum!” she’d say, clearly excited about the crossover. (She’s a professional chef now. I guess her eye was on fusion from the very beginning.) I’d usually go for something with peanut butter, we’d have to grab a Butterfinger for my older sister, and Dad liked the old school Hershey bars. My mother had her favorite as well: the often overlooked, under appreciated, and overshadowed toffee masterpiece known as the Hershey Skor Bar.

You know how Starbucks cafes are - they pop up on adjacent street corners, court one another, breed and multiply. You might drive or walk past a dozen of them during your daily commute to work. As if that weren’t enough, now Starbucks and Hershey’s are teaming up to offer coffee and chocolate flavored treats and confections, beginning this fall.
“Chocolate is the perfect complement to coffee and tea and has long been a part of the coffee-house experience. We are excited to bring premium chocolate inspired by Starbucks coffee and cafe flavors to Starbucks customers and chocolate lovers,” said Gerry Lopez, president of Starbucks Global Consumer Products Group, in a press release.
They’re starting with a premium hot chocolate, which should hit shelves sometime this fall. The two companies are also looking into creating chocolate bars, truffles and chocolate-covered coffee beans.
It was really only a matter of time before somebody came up with the idea of combining

Like any true chocoholic, I believe that you can never have too much chocolate. Solid, nutty, cream-filled, fruit-filled, peanut butter, or mint - there’s always room for more! However, I think even I would have trouble finishing Hershey’s latest chocolate creation. To commemorate 100 years of chocolatey goodness, Hershey unveiled “The World’s Largest Hershey’s Kisses Chocolate” on July 7th.
Standing at 12 feet tall, the giant chocolate weighs in at an astounding 30,540 pounds! That, my friends, is a lot of chocolate. This far surpasses the previous largest chocolate record of 15,026 pounds. The Kiss features a seven-foot-long plume reading “100 Years of Kisses”, and is covered in 16,460 feet of foil wrapping to create the traditional look of a Hershey’s Kiss.
It took 152 people nine days to construct the Kiss, which debuted as part of Hershey’s birthday celebration at Hershey’s Chocolate World in Pennsylvania. In case any of you doubt the record-breaking
I'm suddenly very into fabric pouches. The other day, I came across a local shop selling upholstery fabric - mostly for curtain materials and such. They have these bundles and bundles of scrap fabric sold at RM2 each bundle. Here's an example of what you will find in one bundle.A hell of a steal, ain't it? What's more, each piece measures approximately 30cm x 30cm. :D So then, I decided to try and see if patchwork using these fabrics will turn out alright. Here's the first one I made, and I really love the colours.I gave it to my mum for her to use as a purse. :) She doesn't like bulky purses or pouches, so I thought this pouch is just the right size for her needs. And here's another pouch in hues of maroon, red and pink. You can see that the borders where different fabrics meet are not sewn very well. That's because I'm mighty scared of the sewing machine. -_- Um..... I have to learn to sew better. T-TWent grocery shopping with mum, dad and sis, a sort of family routine every w
For the last three years we have met my husband's parents in Pennsylvania for Memorial Day weekend. We celebrate Kyle's birthday, camp, and do some sight seeing. This year we met in Hershey and went to Hershey Park. With Amanda being 8 1/2 and Kyle just turning 3, it was perfect (actually, really perfect because we went the day before his third birthday, so he was still free!). The crowds
Finding fresh-made candy hasn’t been a problem, really. You can step into just about any mall or local old-time candy store and get some candy that was just made that day (or heck, make your own). Getting fresh-made candy in your local big-box store or convenience store isn’t so easy. Yeah, it doesn’t expire til 2010, but who knows when that candy was actually made. Would it taste better if you were eating it closer to the day it was actually made? I never really thought about it til recently.
Hershey’s has taken fresh-made candy to a new level with their new “Hershey’s Fresh From The Factory” (FFTF from here on) candy. Here’s the deal: go online and order some Fresh From The Factory candy. Hershey’s ships it to you within 96 hours of it being made at the factory. You can start ordering FFTF candy by the end of May but Hershey’s sent me a jar of their FFTF Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to review a bit early.
Upon opening
Again with the limited edition Hershey’s Kisses! Will they ever end? Let’s hope not, because all the special flavors give us an ongoing excuse to purchase them. Anyway, the other day I was leafing through piles of Sunday newspaper advertisements when something in the Target circular caught my eye–Hershey’s Limited Edition Kisses in orange creme flavor! The circular claimed this flavor was a Target exclusive! How does Target do it? I mean, you know that Target has the exclusive red marshmallow Peeps, right? Red! How cool is that! But I digress. I scampered off to Target in search of the orange creme Kisses and was promptly rewarded.
Aren’t they lovely? They taste quite lovely as well. They reminded me a bit of the limited edition Dreamsicle (or was it Creamsicle?) flavor of Frangos. The orange creme Kiss is white chocolate with stripes of orange-flavored white chocolate. It has a pleasant orange flavor that blends nicely with the white chocolate. I detec
I’m always on the lookout for affordable candy, so when I recently saw Hershey’s Sticks on sale at Target, I quickly snatched up boxes of the Mint Milk Chocolate, Rich Dark Chocolate, and the Caramel-filled Milk Chocolate. According to Hershey’s website, Hershey’s Stick are “the convenient, guilt-free way to indulge in chocolate.” Each stick is individually wrapped and contains just 60 calories per serving. Sure they are portion-controlled and might help you watch your diet, but how do they taste?
Mint Milk Chocolate: When I opened up the wrapper and took a whiff of the stick inside, I didn’t notice a strong smell of mint. The stick is about 5 inches long and a little skinnier than an individual KitKat portion. Long and skinny, the stick forces you to eat slower. My brain equates candy with instant gratification so this experience was new. My first bite had the delightful cooling sensation of mint mixed in with the regular Hershey’s choc
If you’ve ever wondered how those scrumptious Kisses are created at the Hershey’s factory, you are in luck! The gang over at coolstuffbeingmade.com have released another great video showing how candy is made. Previously, they showed how chocolate is made, and holiday candy being made. This time, they have a great 45 minute video from 2001 showing how Hershey’s Kisses are made. From silos of milk to bagged Kisses packed in shipping boxes and stacked on pallets - you get the whole story from start to finish.

Hot on the heels of Nabisco’s popular 100 calorie snack packages (featuring Colin Mochrie in a tutu as the Snack Fairy), Hershey’s has recently announced the creation of the 100 Calorie candy bar. Three varieties will be available: Pretzel Bars (two pretzels coated with milk chocolate), Wafer Bars (sort of like KitKats), and Dark Chocolate Thin Bars.
SRP is $2.99 and 7 bars come in a package. It’s nice to see that candy can get healthy, particularly Hershey’s Dark Chocolate, which has 45% pure cacao and should be good for your heart. The hard part, as it is with all these 100 calorie snack packs, is keeping yourself to one package at a time!

Ask and you shall receive! At least that’s how I feel after discovering that Hershey’s has released two more limited edition kisses in time for Valentines Day. The two new flavors are Special Dark Raspberry and Strawberry Creme, the latter being the cause of my extreme excitement. It was only a few short weeks ago that I shared my enjoyment of the Special Dark Strawberry Kisses with you and even mused about a white chocolate version. There seems to be greater forces at work here…
After scouring my usual haunts in search of this new Strawberry Kiss, I finally found them in Target, where it was cleverly displayed near the registers. I had a hard time keeping myself from tearing the bag open right then and there! I knew patience is a virtue, so I decided to wait to try them after dinner when I knew I could appreciate their flavor to the fullest.
The visuals, at least, do not disappoint. Hearts and lace aside, they are really romantic looking Kisses if I’ve ever s
What’s not to love about a Hershey’s Kiss? It’s such a perfect little morsel of chocolatey goodness. I’d have to say the only problem I have with them is having enough patience to methodically unwrap each of the little guys when I am just anxious to shove a whole handful into my mouth. Well, I guess I’m burning half a calorie unwrapping, right?
Hershey’s has been coming out with a lot of limited edition flavors of Kisses lately like the Candy Addict favorite Cherry Cordial Kisses, Special Dark Strawberry Kisses, and even Candy Cane Kisses. Recently, I was lucky enough to find Hershey’s Special Dark Coffee Kisses. I love coffee, and I love coffee-flavored chocolate, so I had high hopes for these nuggets!
I think my hopes were a little too high. These Kisses aren’t bad, but they aren’t all that great, either. I’ve had the same bag for several weeks now, which is telling–if I really liked them, they would have been gone i
