      A Bunda do Herbert

      George Herbert: Sepulchre
O blessed body! whither art thou thrown? No lodging for thee, but a cold hard stone? So many hearts on earth, and yet not one Receive thee ? Sure there is room within our hearts' good store; For they can lodge transgressions by the score:Thousands of toys dwell there, yet out of door They leave thee. But that which shows them large, shows them unfit.Whatever sin did this pure rock commit,Which holds thee now? Who hath indicted it Of murder? Where our hard hearts have took up stones to brain thee,And missing this, most falsely did arraign thee;Only these stones in quiet entertain thee, And order. And as o

Herbert Henry McKenley - A Great Jamaican
I have been meaning to write this post for almost two weeks now but my internet connection problems, pre-Christmas workload and my coverage of the death at the calarlions.com blog has caused me to delay it. When I started the Calabar Lions blog for my old high school a few weeks ago I never dreamed that I would be blogging about the death of Herb McKenley. more images at detailed news coverage at calabarlions.com Herbert Henry McKenley was a great Jamaican and a hero to me and many other persons who thought highly of a man who has achieved so much during is long life. “Hustling Heb” as he was known by his teammates during is athletics career is still the only athlete to have reached an Olympic track final in all three of the classic sprint events, 100, 200 and 400 meters. Frank Herbert’s Dune - Audiobook
I just finished Frank Herbert’s Dune on audiobook and am completely stoked. It really made the commute back and forth to my new job so tolerable. I saw the old movie made back in 1984 for which I have always been a fan. However, I never read the actual book and now I regret that decision… or lack thereof. I will definitely be getting the actual novel and probably reading through it. I also would like to read the rest of the Dune novels. I did actually see the Children of Dune TV Miniseries on Sci-Fi a while back… I really enjoyed that but I think I missed out on some of the plot since I am not familiar with the content of those particular books.

Cup and Division One Title and defined the role of the modern team manager.  ‘Herbert Chapman stands out as the pioneer who shook British footballout of an age-old slough and was a tireless innovator decades ahead of his time- a champion of such ground-breaking concepts as floodlights, numbered shirts, clocks inside grounds, white footballs, team meetings, physiotherapyand synthetic pitches, to name just a few. Most progressive of all, at a time when sides were selectedby self-appointed boardroom cabals,Chapman insisted on total control of team affair

      Achievments Of Herbert Chapman
Arsenal has always been at the cutting edge of the football world. And no man in Arsenal's illustrious history has been more innovative than Herbert Chapman. Chapman was a true visionary, a master tactician, and his arrival at Highbury in 1925 ushered in a golden era for the Club. Never one to rest on his laurels, Chapman's innovations transformed Arsenal and the whole landscape of football in Britain. In 1930 he guided Arsenal to its first major trophy - the FA Cup - and went on to win league titles in 1931 and 1933. Chapman's untimely death in January 1934 stunned the football world but his work had already elevated Arsenal to the highest echelons of the game. But Chapman was about so much more than success on the pitch; his far-sighted ideas and methods quite simply changed football. That's why the Club's new away kit will celebrate the pioneering spirit of the late, great Arsenal manager.

Famous Quotes - Fear - Frank Herbert
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”Frank Herbert (1920 – 86) U.S. science fiction author

New York Times reporter Herbert Matthews made Castro possible-congratulations
HAVANA (Reuters) - Cuba unveiled a marble plaque on Saturday commemorating the interview 50 years ago by New York Times reporter Herbert Matthews that helped build the legend of Fidel Castro, the state news agency Prensa Latina reported. The plaque was placed on the spot where Matthews met with Castro at his hideout in the Sierra Maestra mountains of south eastern Cuba. Castro had taken to the hills two months earlier with a handful of men who survived a disastrous landing from Mexico to launch a guerrilla movement against U.S.-backed dictator Fulgencio Batista. The government had claimed Castro was dead. Matthews's article, published by The New York Times on Feb 24, 1957, showed Castro was still alive and fighting. It immediately made the 30-year-old firebrand an international figure. In that glowing article Matthews wrote: "The personality of the man (Castro) is overpowering. It was easy to see that his men adored him and also to see why he has caught the imagination of the yout
