Helio Mysto has finally arrivedVincent got his Mysto by way of FedEx this morning, it looks great. He hasn't yet taken the time to review it, so this is just pictures of a more or less dead phone, there is one with the phone on, but that's it.If you click through the via link there are more photos and a video of the Unboxing. Well, it's a slider, it's bluish, thin, and it has a camera (I think I saw 2MP in the video).It also has GPS, and all the other goodness that Helio phones always come with. Oh, and for those of you doubting the power of the GPS in these phones, I was with my family last night, we hit a lot a fog and lost our GPS signal from our main GPS device, and visibility was about 4-5 feet in front of the vehicle, so I fired up my Fin and not only got a signal, but got us back on track.(Via SlashGear.)

South Korea's SK Telecom Co. has taken control of Helio.  The company announced today it allocated $70 million into its U.S. mobile venture with Internet service provider EarthLink Inc. The money allocated is more that Earthlink's and as a result SK will gain controlling rights in the company.  SK Telecom and U.S. Internet provider Earthlink announced last July they would invest "up to $100 million" each to help their loss-making mobile joint venture. However, in September, SK announced it would invest up to $200 million to expand Helio's subscriber base through handset and service development and marketing activities.Helio was launched in 2006 as a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) to target young and technology-savvy customers in U.S. market.  However, the company has struggled to materialize its plans.

Helio has enabled push style email for any messages that are sent to your Helio Mail (@myhelio.com) account. To get is set up, just open your Helio Mail account on your phone and under Menu hit “Send/Receive”, then click yes to “enable new email alert notification”. Once activated everytime your receive a message you will get a small flame icon in your alert bar. Officially this push style email is just for the Helio Mail accounts but some are reporting that it is also working for Yahoo!, Windows Live and AOL. This concept phone has been running amuck throughout the worldwide web with no offical information attached. And all I can say is god-damn. This is the first phone since the SK1 that I have drooled over. The design is off the hook and with the full QWERTY keyboard ther are subtle hints at smartphone capabilities. The new Ocean from HELIO is definitely one of the hottest phones I've seen. Ever.It was released today in the US but I've asked around and just been told HELIO handsets don't work in UK, but I've contacted them and to ask if there's anything being done about that and I'll keep you updated.The Ocean is a tiny-text machine - it has a dual-slider, one with a QWERTY keyboard, and one with the regular phone buttons, so texting (and emailing and surfing the web) is extremely easy with this little beauty.It doesn't get much hotter than that!The HELIO Ocean even has GPS with Google Maps so you can find your way around. A new dual-slider with Helio branding on it was seen on the FCC web site today. Internally called the Pantech PN-810, the phone features a three-layer design.
