Do you think income taxes are going up or down in the next couple of years? Judging from current presidential campaign rhetoric and the 2010 expiration of the tax reductions enacted between 2001 and 2005, taxes are undoubtedly headed higher. Also, unless Congress acts the Roth IRA roll-over income rule will be relaxed in 2010 [...]

The Japanese version of the Civic was sold as a 4-door Sedan which generates 222bhp at 8400RPM. This is more powerful than the European version, which generates 198bhp at 7,800RPM. The external features of the 3-Door hatchback have changed some what since 2001, with a slightly less 'sporty' look and more of a 'Honda space age' look. However - under the bonnet the 2litre VTEC engine is the same (tweaked) engine as was in the previous generation, which isn't a bad thing..Although the new version is heavier its still lightning quick for its class, with a 0-62mph time of 6.6 seconds. The top speed hasn't changed and remains at 146MPH. Honda have changed the double wishbone set-up in the rear suspension to a torsion bar suspension, they claim it makes the new civic type R more rigid than before
Aimed at European buyers in search of an inexpensive B-Segment car, Dacia revealed the all-new Dacia Sandero compact hatch in Geneva. The Fiesta-sized hatch, which is also sold in the South American market as the Renault Sandero, is based on the same B0 platform as the Logan. The newcomer in Dacia’s Euro range is manufactured in Pitesti, Romania and it will gradually go on sale in the majority of European markets starting from June 2008. The Sandero will be available with a choice of two petrol engines (1.4 75hp and 1.6 90hp) and two diesel engines (1.5 dCi 68hp and 1.5 dCi 86hp).
Called R-Design, it's been created to develop the brand's sporting credentials with the looks, if not the power, of its high-performance R models. As with Audi's S line or BMW's M Sport kit, the package is the cheapest way of boosting the presence of the C30 hatch, S40 saloon or V50 estate. The R-Design spec can be added to Sport and SE Sport variants, and consists of a bodykit, a roof spoiler, new alloy wheels and unique badging. There's also leather trim for the cabin and a host of other tweaks to the interior, including alloy pedals.Viewed for the first time, it looks smart - and that feeling continues inside. The thickly padded sports seats are covered in two-tone cream and black leather, with the steering wheel also wrapped in hide. The centre console is made from aluminium with a carbon fibre-effect finish. The instruments now have blue backing, and the floor mats get cream leather seams. Plus, there are R-Design badges on the wheel and seats. Fit and finish is superb t
When you're new to bird breeding, you may feel as though all you have is questions. However, you also may think that you can't possibly ask some of the questions you have because more experienced breeders will think you are unintelligent. While your local librarian will tell you the only stupid question is one you didn't ask, finding out a few of the basics can help you feel a bit more confident. One of the first things many people who are new to bird breeding wonder is whether the eggs their bird is laying will hatch. If she is a single female, the answer is no. Eggs need to be fertilize before the bird lays them, so before she lays her eggs she does need to have a male bird in her cage to make fertile eggs. Parrots and other pet birds will lay infertile eggs just as chickens do. Simply throw the infertile eggs away and either pair your female up with a male or try to discourage her from laying more eggs. If she is still alone and doesn't stop laying eggs, you can try allowing her
The subcompact SX4 SUV is based on the same platform as the Suzuki Swift sedan. According to Suzuki, the SX4 name is derived from (S)port (X)-over for (4) seasons. Originally introduced at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, the SX4 fits below the Grand Vitara SUV in Suzuki’s vehicle portfolio. A standard 143-bhp 2.0L inline-4 sends power to all four wheels via a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The AWD system has a differential lock to enhance traction at low speed on slippery surfaces. Standard front, side-impact, and side-curtain airbags are surprising extras at this price level. Other safety options include ESP (Electronic Stability Program) to improve handling in extreme driving conditions. Suzuki aims the SX4 as an alternative to the inexpensive SUVs from Korean manufacturers.Prices are as follows:SX4 hatch / sedan 5-speed manual $19,990 SX4 hatch / sedan 4-speed automatic $21,990 SX4S hatch / sedan 5-speed manual $22,990 SX4S hatch / sedan 4-speed automatic $24,990 SX4 AWD 5-speed

Richard Hatch seems like a nice enough guy as long as he’s working. Take the promise of a paycheck from him, though, and he tends to freak out. Case in point: his initial reaction to the Sci-Fi Channel’s new Battlestar Galactica re-imagining. Years before the new show came together, Hatch had been working on his own version of Galactica. Called Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming, Hatch’s show would star himself as Commander Apollo, the same character he played in the original ‘70s version. He even went so far as to write, produce, and co-direct a trailer for The Second Coming to help sell it to the networks. When his idea was rejected in favor of Ronald D. Moore’s updated Galactica miniseries, Hatch let fly with a sticky torrent of bile from his website. The Sci-Fi Channel was pissing in the faces of all the fans of the original. This new show was a slap in the face. Total disrespect. Oh, and Starbuck is a girl now? But a penis was so intrinsic to the charact
The latest diesel-powered cars offered in Europe come close to - and in a lot of cases beat - hybrid-electric cars like Toyota's Prius in the mileage stakes, so imagine what would happen if you combined the best of both technologies. France's Peugeot hopes to do just that and by becoming the first carmaker to launch a diesel-electric hybrid by the end of the decade. The recently launched midsize Peugeot 308 hatch will be the first vehicle fitted with the new powertrain, but it's likely other models will soon follow suit if it proves to be successful. The Peugeot diesel hybrid should average better than 70mpg (58.3mpg US), which would mean its emissions levels would be lower than most other cars except for pure electric vehicles. By comparison, the Prius rates 65.7mpg (54.7mpg US). However, most motoring mags have found its real-world fuel economy ratings to be much lower. The only factor holding back the release of the hybrid 308 is the high cost of the batteries and electric motor, bu
Ths following story does seem to paint a picture of the Bush administration consistently attempting to circumvent the Hatch Act to get federal workers involved in political activities. I can see this will be an ongoing theme for the Democrat controlled Congress over the next couple fo years. Of course this exact thing is nothign new to the Democrats. They have a long history of attempting to do the same. I am not saying that makes it ok for the Bush administration to be doing it. I think that federal workers shouldn't be pressured to assist whichever party happens to be in power. I think the Hatch Act is a good thing. But the Democrats should remember about glass houses and such. ~RJH Washington Post story link Political Briefings At Agencies DisclosedWhite House Calls Meetings LawfulBy R. Pippa, a cockatoo living at the Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary in the UK, has apparently been protecting an open bowl of chocolate eggs for over two weeks. According to her owner, Geoff Grewcock:
“She went straight over, climbed on the creme eggs and that was it. She thinks they’re her eggs. Until she clicks they’re not real eggs, we’ll just leave her there.”
As long as the bird is happy with doing this, I suppose it’s fine, but I wonder if that cockatoo is actually part Cadbury bunny?

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Scientists on Tuesday removed the rear hatch on the Confederate submarine H.L. Hunley, although the work won't immediately remove the questions surrounding the sinking of the sub in 1864.

I'm somewhat proud that the first Survivor winner was a fellow Rhode Islander. As is the case with many successful Ocean State natives (e.g. former Providence Mayor and current radio talk show host Vincent "Buddy" Cianci), Mr. Hatch's brilliant career has been temporarily interrupted by criminal proceedings; he's spending a little quality time in federal prison on a tax evasion conviction. Even so, Hatch's success on the CBS' prototype reality game show (talk about an oxymoronic expression) contained an important lesson for students of corporate gamesmanship. As Richard stated during his post-game interviews, "I was the only person actually playing the game. Everyone else was so wrapped-up in themselves they forgot why they were there." Hatch's wisdom returned to me when I was trying to understand why both Nardelli at Chrysler and Mulally at Ford are setting about fixing their employers' broken business at a pace that makes a snail's prog
