I’ve admired Harvey Mackay for a long time -- ever since the first time I read his book DIG YOUR WELL BEFORE YOU’RE THIRSTY with the subtitle “The Only Networking Book You’ll Ever Need.” (I’ve read the book more than once.) Yesterday I caught up with the Dentmobile tour in my local city (yes that's me on top of the van) and followed it around until a snow storm hit and shut us down. We've been following the viral campaign for The Dark Knight quite closely and this weekend was the last time the Dentmobile hit the streets. There is one thing I'm amazed at - the lack of actual coverage this campaign is getting! We've already mentioned it before, but there is a lot going on out there that we don't even know about. This is what happens when millions of die hard fans rally in support of a movie and a brilliantly conceived viral marketing campaign. After signing up on the ibelieveinharveydent.com website last month, everyone got a phone call from Harvey Dent on around March 8th (you can read more about that here).

A few days ago, Warner Bros. opened a site to promote their Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight. The site I Believe in Harvey Dent consists soley of an election poster advertising Harvey Dent (played by Aaron Eckhart) for District Attorney. Soon after, another site was discovered — I Believe in Harvey Dent Too — which appears to have been hacked by The Joker (Heath Ledger) which features a defaced “I Believe in Harvey Dent” poster. Visitors to The Joker’s site who entered their email address received a link with X and Y coordinates emailed to them that once plugged in would reveal one pixel from an image underneath. The more users input the coordinates, the more pixals of the image beneath the campaign poster were uncovered. The full image was finally revealed today to be Ledger in full Joker face makeup.
