Hey!
So I was chillin in Harlem this weekend...being a Brooklynite, I honestly never make the trek, so while up there I couldn't help but scout for fashionable people. I snapped these two young men:
...from their graphic t-shirts to saggy jeans, Jordans, medallions, and hats, they epitomized real street style. I asked a few questions, and turns out they're actually part of Jim Jones' Diplomats

Let's talk about ducks.Fellow NYC bloggers, forget the link bait, because at the Harlem Meer, a serene pool of water at the far northeast corner of Central Park, it's possible to fish and blog at the same time. The rule of fishing here is catch-and-release, and the free Wifi provided by the park seems to be working fine. I'm writing from the edge of the water, just outside the Dana Discovery Center, but I should point out, in the interest of accuracy, that I am not currently fishing. The point is that I could if I wanted. So, here on Day 4, around 4:45 p.m., I've now completed several walks throughout the park. This afternoon, I took the C train uptown to 103rd and then walked east through some of the prettiest parts of the park I've seen so far, areas known as the Pool, the Loch, and the N

Online and in "reality," La Casa Azul (meaning blue house and named after artist Frida Kahlo's home in Mexico City) will offer "a wide range of books and music from the United States, México, Latin America and the Caribbean," reflecting "the international Latino communities shaping the United States and many parts of the world." Show quality. Fantastic trail horse. Great disposition. Oso has been ridden mostly on trail for the past 2 years. He is gaited, but not trained as of yet to do arena work. He is good in the arena, but goes more like a hunter horse. As a trail horse he is amazing. His gaits are so comfortable, and he is not spooky.

Lumidee (born on August 24, 1984, in Spanish Harlem) known as Lumidee Cedeño) is a female American R&B singer, songwriter and rapper of Puerto Rican descent. Her father died in 1995. She currently resides in New Jersey as her house was televised on MTV. She and her four siblings were raised by her grandparents. She began singing and rapping at the age of twelve. After graduating high school, she collaborated with local neighborhood producer DJ Tedsmooth to record her debut single, "Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh)" for an independent label, Straight Face. She later signed with Universal Records, where she released her debut album, Almost Famous, on June 23, 2003. Her single peaked at #3 in the U.S. and #2 in the UK, but it was her only hit until the 2007 release of "She's Like The Wind."
Teyana Taylor - Google Me VideoThe Neptune's latest discovery struts her stuff in her debut video for her upcoming album, "From a Planet Called Harlem" in stores May 20.I think the video and song is cool. Teyana does remind me a lot of Kelis but also Neneh Cherry. The video reminds me a lot of Neneh Cherry's "Buffalo Stance". If you ever saw that video or haven't and watched it, you'd understand what I meant. The season finale of "Making The Band" aired last night and I didn't see the show in its entirety. When I did catch the show, it was near the show's end. Donnie Klang was performing his new single, "Take You There" featuring Diddy. NY-1 reported that The City Planning Commission approved a major rezoning plan for 125th Street today. The proposal would create condos, performing arts space, new hotels, and an office tower. The rezoning would cover from 124th to 126th Street between Broadway and Second Avenue. The plan also calls for 2,500 units of housing, 500 of which would be for those earning less than $56,000 a year.Supporters say the rezoning will revive the neighborhood's cultural identity, which they say has been threatened by unregulated development.Opponents fear the neighborhood will lose its character to corporate chains, and worry that some residents could lose their homes. The plan will now go to the City Council for approval.Manhattan Real Estate Blog - nyc BLOG estate

Harlem Globetrotters: World Tour Glitches
Easily Winning Matches In order to easily win your matches, simply score more points than your opponent (even if it is just more 1 point than them), get the ball with one of your characters and move him to the lower left side of the field. Then, release the controls of the console and just let your character in there.
Another day, another eccentric band from Brooklyn, New York City. Named after a dance move, the Harlem Shakes create garage dance that has one sole purpose: to get the listener to boogie. And while ‘Burning Birthdays’ may only be an EP, its packed with infectious, toe tapping music, starting with “Carpetbaggers”, a song so fun even Williamsburg’s hippest hipsters will shuffle their feet. “Red Right Hands” and “Felt Wings” are more catchy than dance-y, with choruses that keep listeners singing long after the tracks are over. The other side of the EP is a bit more somber, and a bit more traditional, but in no way less enjoyable (the driving beat of “Old Flames”, a rocking number entitled “Sickos”). Simply put, the catchy, dance-y, altogether fun of ‘Burning Birthdays’ is a reason to listen to a band representing where the Dodgers moved from.

I know Friday has been proclaimed House music day around here, but since I already posted a House song this week...... let's roll into the weekend with some Latin Funk hotness, courtesy of the great percussionist and cool-name-havin' dude Willie Bobo... because this will make you move that butt, too, folks. Plus Willie gets extra cool points for his son playing drums with Cypress Hill's live band now, and the younger Bobo has been known to take a four-foot bong out on stage and blaze up whilst playing. Sweet. Anyhoo, here is the title track from Do What You Want To Do, from 1971 (yeah, like I didn't have to look that up :P )...Willie Bobo & The Bo-Gents - Do What You Want To Do (ysi)So take that, head out to Happy Hour for some chips and salsa and five or six Margaritas... hmmm, I suppose that would be more appropriate if I had posted some Mariachi music... whatevs, sue me... and have a great weekend!
We actually wrote about these guys in the past, they've got nothing new out, and they are not really on tour. I decided to post them up because simply I love their music. I really hope they are working on a full length, which would only make sense at this point. The Harlem Shakes released their "Burning Birthdays EP" earlier this year and it's definitely worth a good listen. Just plain good indieness with some swankin' vocals, stuff I wish I coulda listened to in high school. Alright Enough said check'em out! Josh StudiesEighteenDisco 5000Carpetbaggers

President Bush Encourages the Reauthorization of No Child Left Behind, FULL STREAMING VIDEO, Harlem Village Academy Charter School, New York, New York 2:00 P.M. EDT. Fact Sheet: No Child Left Behind: Keeping America Competitive in the 21st Century and In Focus: EducationTHE PRESIDENT: Thank you for the warm welcome. I appreciate you making a Texan feel right at home here in Harlem. (Laughter.) I have had a remarkable experience here at Harlem Village Academy Charter School. You know, it's interesting, one of the children said, why here, why did you come here, Mr. President? Of all the schools in the country, why this school? And my answer is because the President has an opportunity to herald excellence, and I have seized that opportunity.I have come to a school where some may say these children can't possibly exceed high standards -- but, in fact, they are. Secondly, I wanted to be nice to the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. (Applause.)I think any time I can thank a t
Armed with Alegra (for my blooming allergies) and an umbrella, I met Gina C., who wanted to join me on today's city walk. It was overcast with occasional drizzles, but it was a nice walk. We speculated from block to block on how we could snag our own Harlem brownstones and then split a white chocolate, macadamia and cherry cookie from Make My Cake bakery on Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard before going our separate ways.Card No. 41Like the song says, you really do take the A train to Harlem.Begin at 125th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue(A, B, C, or D train to 125th Street).Like the rest of New York, Harlem is made of up distinct neighborhoods with long histories. Its principal streets are West 125th Street, running east to west, now called Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and Lenox Avenue, or Malcolm X Boulevard, which runs north and south.

Hugg.com has posted about prefab, green housing myths before. A lot of green houses seem, well... a bit unsafe. You can be secure and green at the same time! Safer than MOST homes, infact! "The house walls, floor and roof are made from expanded polystyrene panels cladded with cement board, which fit together without wood framing or braces. The house remained fully intact after being shaken up harder than the strongest recorded earthquake." » original news

Soon after leaving office, Bill Clinton was welcomed in New York City by thousands of people. But the crowds dwindled as soon as Clinton announced that he no longer hadthe power to pardon criminals. Then Clinton revealed his plans to open an office inHarlem, regaining his popularity, especially among residents of the historic African-American community."He's one of us," some folks said. "He's our president." In the coming years, Clinton, who enjoyed greatsupport from African Americans during his presidency, will try to transform himself from "a southern white boy" to a"Harlem hero" by doing the following:---He will try to run for president of the NAACP,insisting that the group should now be called the National Association for the Advancement of Clinton's People.---He will host his own talk show on the television network BET, which will henceforth be known as Bill's Entertainment Television.---He will claim that the only reason hemessed around with Monica Lewinsky was because she was
