Well, I got The Pursuit of Happyness today from Netflix, stuck it in the DVD player this afternoon and watched it. I haven’t watched it until now because I figured it would be a tear jerker and I really, really hate to cry.
Well, it did make me cry, but not as much as I had [...]
Never underestimate the power of a hope-inspired perseverance.

It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson on the Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking how did he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue [...]
Will Smith stars in the inspirational true story of Chris Gardner, a San Francisco salesman who's struggling to make ends meet. When his girlfriend Linda (Thandie Newton) walks out, Chris is left to raise their 5-year-old son Christopher (Jaden Smith) on his own. Chris' determination finally pays off when he lands an unpaid internship in a brutally competitive stockbroker-training program, where only one in twenty interns will make the cut. But without a salary, Chris and his son are evicted from their apartment and are forced to sleep on the street, in homeless shelters and even behind the locked doors of a metro station bathroom. With self- confidence and the love and trust of his son, Chris Gardner rises above his obstacles to become a Wall Street legend.
Pursuit of Happyness
This movie really reminds me of one person who’s very close to me. He shared his story to me just last night about some of his frustrations when he has still in school that turned out to be challenges for him to overcome. As you all know, I’m on call 24/7.
His story really was so inspiring that I really listened carefully word for word. So what’s the price Rodel for listening to him? This article of course, otherwise I won’t be listening to anyone.
Just to make the story short, his story happened long time ago when we were still in high school. Actually, we were at the same school and we have the same passion i.e. dancing acting Clown. And hell no, this guy is not my alter ego in fact I’m a lot different than him. I was good at school or I was trying to be good at school but my teacher labeled me as a bad kid. She was just sooooo ... arggh! Anyway, she labeled me as a troublesome kid wherein everyday I get into trouble and I was t

I just finished watching The Pursuit of Happyness. It's a beautiful film, and inspirational. Will Smith is a brilliant actor, as is his son. What stuck with me the most about the movie was my own thoughts on happiness. What would make me happy? How hard will I have to work to reach happiness?I want what everyone else wants in life. A loving family, kind friends, a successful career. I want to be a writer. Whether that's a novelist or a screenwriter or both, I don't care. I want to use my words to somehow change the world even if only slightly. Even if only for a few people. Even if it's only my world that changes. I want to change it.I am grateful for all that I've been blessed with. Though I don't believe in any higher deity, I can say that I truly am blessed. I am blessed by life itself. I am physically healthy, and though I suffer from these mental illnesses I am overcoming them. That strength is what will carry me on through the years. That strength is what gives me the will t

Have you watched his movie? It’s a sad, heart-wrenching but with a happy ending rag to riches story of an American dream. In his stirring autobiography Chris Gardner details his journey from homeless single father to self-made millionaire. It is the gripping story of his refusal to give up on his quest for the American dream and his duties to his toddler son, or give into the despair that threatened to devour him from birth. The Pursuit of Happyness is an inspirational, coming-of-age memoir that bears the message that a hunger for learning, hard work, and never giving up on the people who make you truly “wealthy,” can break destructive cycles and propel anyone to unlimited heights - no matter who they are, where they come from, or what their circumstances may be. In 1982, Chris Gardner was just another go-getter in the training program at Dean Witter’s San Francisco office, making $1,000 a month. He was also homeless. Gardner couldn’t afford both day care
“The Pursuit of Happiness”, directed by Gabriele Muccino (who I thought was a woman by hearing his name), and Italian-born director, who, until now, has only done Italian films, is about just that: pursuing happiness. The funky spelling in the fourth word of the title is taken from a daycare center in the movie, run by Asian-Americans, who have a less-than-perfect understanding of the English language.
Will Smith (that’s right, the Fresh Prince) plays Chris Gardner, a dedicated but unlucky and unsuccessful up-and-coming businessman living in San Francisco. In 1981, when the film takes place, he is selling an X-ray-like machine to doctors, most of whom turn the product down. With his wife (Thandie Newton) working double-overtime, the three person family barely makes ends meet. (The third individual is Christopher, a five-year-old played by Jaden Christopher Syre Smith, Mr. Smith’s own son.) When Chris’ wife leaves him, he makes the elegant but crazy dec
In Pursuit of Happyness is another movie that is worth seeing and I would recommend it. Maybe not buying it but renting it if you have not already seen it in theaters. The movie is a motivating one and I think it’s Will Smith’s best serious roll. I have a lot [...]
Hollywood actor Will Smith recently appeared on CBS's early show with Harry Smith and talked about his new film "The Pursuit of Happyness," which earned him a nomination at the Golden Globe Awards. The movie, "The Pursuit of Happyness" is based on the real life story of a struggling salesman and single father Chris Gardener (played by Will Smith) forced in the homelessness who takes the custody of
Your first question is probably, "Why is "happyness' spelled with a "y?'" No worries; the answer arrives within minutes of the opening. Your second question is most likely, "How good is Will Smith's performance?" No fear; the answer becomes apparent mid-film.The Pursuit of Happyness is not only a vehicle to showcase the depth and emotion of a truly developed actor in his prime. It is also a heartrending story that drains you of all selfishness and pumps you full of willpower. It pushes the importance of protecting dreams and being a go-getter in the most destitute of circumstances and it truly comes close to leaving you without breath. The plot is "inspired by a true story," and the film itself is laid out into chapters. They are titled "Riding the Bus," "Being Stupid," "Running," "Internship," and "Happiness"Chris Gardner (Will Smith) is a salesman who constantly strives to support his family, wife Linda (Thandie Newton) and son Christoph
