Hollywood will always be grateful to one of the rarest breeds of actors it has ever conceived, Tom Hanks! The talent that is ordained for him has long been coveted by his envious counterparts! A thorn in the ass for conventional cliche makers, Tom has long helped the development of groundbreaking celluloid entities! Two academies and three nominations, I feel is just little appreciative of his pro

“Sayonara, Bonfire of the Vanities!” Frank Darabont’s adaptation of the classic novel Fahrenheit 451 ranks right up there with Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards, Fincher’s Rendezvous with Rama and Aronofsky’s take on Lone Wolf & Cub as an epic dream project that’s been discussed for ages. For nearly a year, Tom Hanks had been pegged for the 2009 film’s lead role of Guy Montag, a content fireman of the future who slowly realizes that his government occupation of burning books and oppressing book owners is nothing less than horrific. Unfortch(-unately, by reader request) Hanks is no longer attached to what would have been his second collabo(-ration, by reader request) with the director after 1999’s so-so The Green Mile, according to Darabont… "Mr. Hanks sadly and regr

To say it’s a hair-don’t is to put it kindly. We thought that when Make Me Heal ran a story on the unsightly rug John Travolta sported at last year’s Oscars, he’d do something about it. Instead, he seems to have simply shaved it down for this year’s Oscars.

This Saturday's Favorite movie moment is from Tom Hanks 1988 blockbuster, Big, in which the star plays a thirteen year old boy transformed into an adult body by a magical gene machine at the State Fair. This is my one of my favorite scenes, but the picture is fun, sweet, and hilarious from beginning to end- it's fabulous.TEXT

Blimey, to think I actually have something in common with Tom Hanks...
Turns out Tom supports Aston Villa, probably the best football team in the whole wide World.
Whilst he was over in the UK to promote the premiere, and release, of "Charlie Wilson's War" (a comedy film where Tom plays Texan Congressman Charlie Wilson, secretly assisting rebels in Afghanistan in their war with the Soviets, which contributed to the collapse of Soviet Union, and then led to the rise of the Taliban and Islamic Radicalism), Tom recently said:
"I'm big on Aston Villa because the name is just so sweet. It sounds like a lovely spa"
I've always liked Tom, and his films, but now I really like him.
However he obviously wasn't about during the festivities in nearby Lozells and Handsworth in the 1980's.

Actor Tom Hanks has been nominated for a Golden Globe award as best actor in a comedy or musical for his portrayal of US Congressman Charlie Wilson in Charlie Wilson’s War. Most of the reviews of the movie have indicated that Tom has managed to give another remarkable performance in the film, but Hanks has grown into such an incredible actor that most of us expect him always to nail the role

Seems every publishing house is raiding the senior comic book characters. Must be that copyrights have elapsed or the ink well is drying up. Where are the exciting new characters this young generation is creating today? Most likely on the net for free, nobody is ready to gamble on new projects. Word has it that Mike Allred who is a great creator of original concepts is taking on Fletcher Hanks’ character Stardust. I really enjoyed the original comic reprinted by Fantagraphics. A real blast. The early artwork of this new project by Image Comics has me scratching my head. Why? The Golden Age characters did not graduate to the big show because they were not that good to start with. Alex Ross with super-hero realism art for both Marvel and DC of their older characters got him accolades. However, the characters he was given were strong characters with a rich history. All these new Golden Age characters who have not seen the light of day since the 40’s are re-hash

By David Terr "Splash" is a very funny and entertaining romantic comedy starring Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah, who plays the role of a mermaid. Although the plot is pretty ridiculous, the acting is quite good. John Candy also has a funny role as Freddie, the rather perverted brother of Allen (Hanks), who works for Penthouse magazine. In 1964, as an 8-year-old boy, Allen takes a boat trip with his family in Cape Cod. There he encounters a mermaid about his age in the water. He jumps after her and swims underwater with her a bit before the boat crew save him.Now 20 years later (in 1984, the year the film was made), Allen lives in New York City where he sells fruit. Allen is depressed because his girlfriend has left him. He complains to his brother Freddie that he seems to be incapable of being in love. He decides to take a trip to Cape Cod. There on an island he meets the same mermaid he'd met as a kid, but doesn't realize she's a mermaid since she doesn't show him her tail, which she o
It has been reported this morning that Fahrenheit 451 (Ray Bradbury) will be hitting the big screens. Frank Darabont will be writing the script and directing the big-screen adaptation and he wants none other than Tom Hanks for the lead role.
Although AICN is reporting this, I’ll have to take it with a pinch of salt until I see some hard facts! Call me sceptical if you will! If they do make the movie, however, they’ve made a good choice with Tom Hanks. Hanks will play Guy Montag - a “Fireman” whose job it is to go round, burning books and the houses that store them, while prosecuting those who own them.
The story is set in the future where books have been completely replaced by interactive entertainment. When Montag begins to question a society that would want to destroy books, his life and the lives of those he loves become in danger.
Keep it at Product Reviews for more information on Fahrenheit 451 as and when we get it.

I Shall Destroy All the Civilized Planets: The Comics of Fletcher Hanks
When I first read about this book I knew exactly what I was getting. The image of "Stardust" was etched in my skull from the back cover of "Men Of Tomorrow: Geeks, Gangsters, and the Birth of the Comic Book", by Gerad Jones. Fletcher Hanks has to be the Ed Wood of comics. The stories are so wild, that you enjoy the stupidity of it all. The gem in this book is Paul Karasik’s story of "Whatever Happened to Fletcher Hanks". This story is either a tribute to It’s a Good Life, If You Don’t Weaken by Seth or just about every fan-boy who lives in his basement searches for their heroes or misplaced youth. There are many parallels to Seth’s work, however, Fletcher is an evil crusted person unlike Seth’s Kalo, a make believe cartoonist from the New Yorker. Read more>>sandbox world, tony medeiros
