Handheld computers come in a variety of brands. Certainly, computers have come along way from their early days when a single computer with computing power far less than your average cell phone would take up a single room. Firmware update 3.80 allows the PSP to stream games from PSOne discs played on a PlayStation 3 using the Remote Play function. Ok so Nokia doesn't believe that this world isn't ready, or wanting a gaming system mobile phone hybrid, although with the PSP things could easily change. Nokia isn't the one for missing out on a potential market so has filed a fresh new patent for a handheld device that acts as gaming machine and mobile phone. I thought about how big a mess would you have to have that would take more than six minutes and concluded that such a mess would require a full size vacuum. So I bought this machine.I have never owned a battery powered hand held vacuum before. However, I do own two wired hand held machines that are essentially toys. They have poor vacuum and even poorer attachments. The Dyson does not have these problems. The amount of suction is excellent and the attachments nicely designed and easy to attach and detach from the machine.As to the overall design I find it very ergonomic. The grip is such that it is easy to hold the switch in the on position when using and it actually lends itself to pulse mode (quick bursts to suck up a solitary item).Five sta

Voice is arguably as unique as our fingerprints. Voice is not only produced by the voice box, but is also shaped by the throat, tongue, lips, teeth, chest and head. Put that together with ascents and dialects and you have quite a challenge understanding spoken language. Now not only can Windows on the PC comprehend 8 languages, but so can Windows on the mobile phone, or at least one anyway.
Recently the Live Search for Mobile team introduced voice input in their application for Windows Mobiles. And it works remarkably well according to some early responses. Check out this quick demo by Microsoft’s speech-guru Rob Chambers.
Update: Interestingly enough, the speech recognition doesn’t actually occur on the mobile device itself. Instead as explained on the Speech team blog, “the phone takes your speech input, sends it to a server, the server does it’s recognition magic, and sends the results back to the phone.”

Whist we’ve featured a couple of USB based microscopes previously here on TFTS, the ViTiny digital magnifier (which looks like some ’80s handheld gaming device) differs in that, whilst also being USB compatible so as to allow the viewing of images via your PC, it can also function as a stand alone, handheld device thanks to its integral 1.8” 65k colour TFT screen.
Ideal for hobbyists or anyone looking to hone in on detail, the ViTiny handheld digital magnifier basically consists of a super macro digital camera enhanced with up to x95 digital zoom which, whilst not being anywhere near the x200 zoom levels offered by the previously mentioned USB microscopes, is more than enough when compared to run of the mill handheld magnifying glasses (against which this product is obviously designed to compete).

PocketSurfer2 handheld mobile device provides road warriors with the ability to surf internet on-the-go like never before. The ultra-thin portable device offers the 'fastest web on a cellular network' and downloads a webpage in under 7 seconds, according to the company. I am little skeptical about this claim because I don't think a large size page (for example Pclaunches.com) can be downloaded in under seven seconds. It also allows web browsing in the original layout. My post yesterday that covered my quest for a handheld PC generated a lot of great commentary. One thing that is very clear is how passionate mobile PC owners are about their gear of choice. Based on some of the comments I feel it’s a good idea to clarify my thought process a little bit, and fill in how I currently use my mobile devices.
First of all, I am not looking to replace any of my current gear. The Lenovo ThinkPad x61 is my main workhorse and I carry it with me when I am going to Big Oil Company for extended periods. It is a great laptop in addition to the Tablet functionality and there is nothing better when I’m working at a desk and banging out endless long reports. I carry it into meetings too and ink reams of notes about the various projects I manage and the search function is my main productivity booster. Searching my ink is a must and the x61 is the best all-around Tablet PC I’ve used to date.
