It’s an election year and nobody wants to raise taxes in an election year. Unless you are New Hampshire Governor John Lynch, then you are so sure of your re-election prospects that you have no problem raising taxes. Potential buyers of bank-owned homes and condos really

From Bloomberg:-- Senator John McCain of Arizona won the New Hampshire primary, handing rival Mitt Romney his second defeat and further muddying the waters for the Republican presidential nomination.McCain had 37 percent of the vote, while Romney trailed with 29 percent, with 27 percent of the precincts reporting, according to results posted by Fox News, CNN and MSNBC.It's a setback for former Massachusetts Governor Romney, who lost to ex-Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee in Iowa on Jan. 3 and had been counting on victories in Iowa and New Hampshire to gain front-runner status. The defeat puts Romney, 60, ``in really, really tough shape,'' said Spiliotes. ``He has the money and the organization to stay in, but they've just beaten him so badly.'' Romney, who won Wyoming's less-closely watche
Mike Huckabee is going to finish a very respectable third in New Hampshire, it appears, ahead of Rudy Giuliani. Huckabee has 11% of the vote with 80% of the precincts reporting, which would give him at least one delegate. This is a strong performance for Mike, as he heads to Michigan and South Carolina.
And just as quickly as it started, Iowa is over and we're heading into New Hampshire in the second Primary.I think we'll see a dramatically different result coming out of Tuesdays vote, I don't believe Huckabee will have his Evangelical base the way he did in Iowa (Then again, I was off the mark big time yesterday). We'll talk more about polls and guesses later, but before we even hit the Primary, we have the debates.Of course, in true political season conflict, folks are already up in arms over the exclusion of certain candidates. Kucinich has already filed a complaint over the fact that he was left out.Folks, I love elections and I love our system, but these people have been campaigning for over a year. If you can't meet one simple qualification out of three, then perhaps it's time to

Congratulations are in order for New Hampshire’s second district representative. He took home a well deserved and hard fought award last week. He was named by USA Today as one of the worst pork barrel spending representatives in the House. Congratulations Paul Hodes, you must be proud.
Paul Hodes and Carol Shea-Porter ( New Hampshire’s First district, and my, representative) promised to reign in wasteful government spending, yet Paul Hodes has brought it to another level.
GOP Chairman Fergus Cullen: “After earning the distinction as one of the worst pork-barrel spenders in Congress, it seems that Representative Paul Hodes has found his very own ‘bridge to nowhere.’ This is exactly the kind of project that wastes of taxpayer dollars and adds to the federal budget deficit.”
That was New Hampshire GOP chairman Fergus Cullen’s response after it was learned that Paul Hodes had entrenched himself in his new pork

Concord Monitor Gives Romney Anti-EndorsementIn a scathing anti-endorsement that called Romney a "disquieting figure," the New Hampshire newspaper's editorial board said he looks and acts like a presidential contender but "surely must be stopped" because he lacks the core philosophical beliefs to be a trustworthy president. In particular, the newspaper noted the former Massachusetts governor's change of heart on such issues as abortion rights, stem-cell research and access to emergency contraception, as well as on signing an anti-tax pledge. When New Hampshire partisans are asked to defend the state's first-in-the-nation primary, we talk about our ability to see the candidates up close, ask tough questions and see through the baloney. If a candidate is a phony, we assure ourselves and the rest of the world, we'll know it," the newspaper said. "Mitt Romney is such a candidate. New Hampshire Republicans and independents must vote no."Read Article... Concord Monitor Romney New Hampshire
The polls are coming more and more frequently, so let’s take a look at the latest one. Romney’s lead has shrunk, and he looks to be in a dead heat with John McCain, who is surging in New Hampshire.
Romney was backed by 28 percent of likely GOP voters, McCain by 25 percent, Rudy Giuliani 14, Mike Huckabee 10, Ron Paul 9, others 3 and 12 percent were undecided.
Romney has always been ahead in the polls, but McCain has closed the gap, the poll results are within the margin of error. This is the first time that Romney has been challenged poll-wise in New Hampshire. I don’t understand the McCain surge just based on his immigration stance, but it appears as though his endorsement by Lieberman has helped him in the polls with Independent voters. McCain’s surge doesn’t appear to be taking away too much of Romney’s votes. McCain’s poll numbers appear to coming from Rudy, and Thompson. I think some of the undecided voters have also broken for McCain.
Well, I got back from New Hampshire last night in what seemed like a whirlwind of a trip. As much time as you think you have between flights, you really don’t have that much time to sit and relax at all. I went up there to get trained on some new software we are getting for the conference. The town was neat - quaint, small, looked like a Christmas postcard at night with Christmas lights hanging everywhere. All of the shops were locally owned in old brick buildings so it made it feel welcoming. I stayed at a Bed & Breakfast and it was pretty neat. My room looked like a log cabin and even had a gas fireplace to keep it toasty at night. Oh yeah, and their was snow, lots and lots of snow…
Tonight we are heading out to Atlanta then Saturday we are driving to Illinois. I’ve been in a lot of states over the past few days. If you are ever offered a layover in Cincinnati - don’t do it. You have to take a 20 min bus ride to the other side of the airport (depending on
As the New Hampshire primary draws closer we seem to have polls almost every day, and I have to say it is getting very interesting up here.
 The latest Republican results are:
The latest Rasmussen Reports’ New Hampshire poll shows Romney with 31 percent, McCain at 27 percent
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani attracts 13 percent, while former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is at 11 percent.
Romney had held a big lead in the polls, but it seems to have drastically tightened up. The surprising part of this, on the surface, is that it is McCain who has closed the gap. But when you look into it a little more deeply, it is almost understandable.
Independent voters make up New Hampshire’s largest voting block. Joe Lieberman’s recent endorsement of John McCain is what seems to be responsible for McCain’s surge. It appears as though this endorsement has swayed many Independent voters to John McCain. A recent poll also stated that 60% of Independents were und

This feel good liberal puff piece that appeared in today’s New Hampshire Union Leader is enough to make you throw up in your mouth a couple of times. It is all about how New Hampshire prisoners now have a vegan diet available to them as well as healthy dietary meals. Well thank God for that. I have to be honest, I couldn’t believe what I was reading, so let’s take a look at it, shall we?
“Prison food has traditionally gotten a bad rap, but you won’t hear many complaints from vegetarians and vegans who are serving time in New Hampshire. The delicious vegetarian shepherd’s pie, pot pies, lentil ‘meatballs,’ and tofu sandwiches have inmates asking for seconds,” PETA said in an announcement of the rankings yesterday.
Now doesn’t that help you sleep at night? Just knowing that criminals are enjoying delicious tofu sandwiches on the taxpayer’s dime makes me feel as though my tax dollars

New Hampshire Democrats have been illegally buying and selling registered voters lists for a profit. Now comes word that my representitive, Carol Shea-Porter, used tax dollars to purchase the voters lists.
"This whole scheme continues to give off the whiff of corruption. While orchestrating legislation allowing them to purchase the voter file for $450, New Hampshire Democrats negotiated to sell the file to at least five presidential campaigns for $65,000 each. They also sold it to at least three commercial list brokers in what may be a violation of state law. Now we find out they sold the list to Rep. Shea-Porter, who used tax dollars to pay for it. This is outrageous and wrong," Cullen said.
Democrats were able to convince the voters that the Republicans were corrupt and needed to be voted out. We now see that the Democrats are corrupt and a change is needed. Carol Shea-Porter does not represent New Hampshire values, she has voted in lock
One of Hillary Clinton’s national co-chairs was forced to resign today because of comments he made about Barack Obama’s teenage drug use. First Hillary had to fire a couple people on her campaign because they sent out emails that suggested that Obama was a Muslim who wanted to destroy America, and now this. Of course I do believe Obama WILL destroy America, but not for the bigoted, hateful reasons that Hillary’s campaign members, and Hillary by proxy, but because he is a socialist.
So here is a quick recap of this latest development in Hillary’s campaign. First we learn that Hillary has some major dirt on Obama, but her campaign will not use it. Obama, knowing that the Clinton’s are the most ruthless people in politics, comes forward with his prior drug use thinking this is what the Clinton’s have on him. A little preemptive strike by Obama. Now we fast forward to yesterday. Bill Shaheen comes out and says that Obama’s drug use WILL be an
Hillary Clinton once held a seemingly insurmountable lead in New Hampshire of over 20%. That has now been surmounted.
She now has 31 percent support, with Barack Obama in a statistical tie at 30 percent. John Edwards is third with 16 percent, and Bill Richardson has slipped slightly to 7 percent.
This lead has been dwindling for weeks now, and Obama, with Oprah’s help, has finally caught her. I don’t know what this says about voters if they let a celebrity decide for them who they should vote for.
Nothing has changed on the Republican side.
Mitt Romney is leading with 32 percent support. Rudy Giuliani and John McCain both have 19 percent. Mike Huckabee has climbed slightly to 9 percent, and Ron Paul has 7 percent.
At flex camp (which was great) last Friday I ran into a few people who live in the Seacoast of New Hampshire (or on the border in Main and Massachusetts) and do ColdFusion development. It is always nice to meet new CF people and it surprised me that there were so many I hadn't known about right here in my back yard. If I had been thinking I would have gotten your business cards so we could continue to network later.
So this is a quick call to all you CF'ers. How many of you are out there and in the Seacoast area? Would it make sense to try to organize a CF meet 'n drink some night to all get together say hi and so forth? I am all about organizing stuff like that if enough people would be interested.

The only M.D. in the presidential race for 2008 will be running a new ad in Iowa and New Hampshire that will focus on health care. Dr. Ron Paul has been able to raise over $10.8 million dollars (as of December 10) online since the beginning of October and has the money to spend on TV ads along with the other "major" candidates. Many have not taken the congressman's campaign seriously but with the amount of money he has raised recently and the intense following he receives from his supporters he is starting to get more attention. With large campaign funds like this there will be more ad buys to come. The ad features an actor talking about the type of health care reform that Ron Paul would push for if he were president. The ad references the shameful treatment that our soldiers received at Walter Reed Medical Facility and that our government cannot be trusted to run our health care. This is obviously no deviation from where Paul stands on government involv

Barack Obama has been continuing to gain on Senator Clinton (D-New York) since October and the same continues to be true in New Hampshire. Obama has continued to hold onto his lead in the first caucus state of Iowa and has now made significant gains on Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire. Clinton once had double digit leads in New Hampshire and a new ABC/Washington Post poll finds that it is now only 6 points. According to the Washington Post, a CNN/WMUR poll from early autumn showed Hillary Clinton had a 20 point lead over her next closest competitor Barack Obama in New Hampshire. The recently released ABC/Washington Post poll showed Hillary Clinton had 35 percent support among like
Here are the latest New Hampshire Democrat primary poll numbers:
Clinton has 35 percent support, Obama 29 percent, John Edwards 17 percent and Bill Richardson 10 percent, with others in the low single digits.
In October Hillary held a 21 point lead over Obama, 43% to 22%, but that lead has dwindled to single digits.
Edwards is up slightly from 14%.
