      Pianist's Skull Steals Hamlet Scene
A concert pianist has appeared on stage in a 22-performance run of Hamlet—26 years after his death. André Tchaikowsky, a Polish Jew who was smuggled out of Warsaw as a child of 7, left his skull to the Royal Shakespeare Company upon his death in 1982. It was finally used in the graveyard scene as the unearthed skull of Yorick, the jester, by actor David Tennant, in performances in Stratford, th

      The Hamlet Act
Sen. Collins' refusal to stake out any concrete position on the Bush administration's $700 billion bailout plan is unethical. It's irresponsible. But it's also pretty typical behavior from the junior senator. At least in certain circumstances. When the Republican position on an issue is politically palatable in Maine, Susan Collins has no problem toeing the party line. But the rest of the time--when

      Hamlet-Ophelia relatioanship
Shakespeare’s greatness and pre-eminence as a dramatist is universally recognized. It is said that “he was not of an age but of all times”. Shakespeare's characters reveal themselves by what they say and do on the stage. They tell us more by their speeches then by their actions. Hamlet, the play and the man, seem to be presented as a puzzle. Dower Wilson regards this puzzle as gr

      Hamlet 2
"My life is a parody of a tragedy" -- Dana Marschz, Hamlet 2Yesterday, the Pineapple Family went to see Hamlet 2. We all laughed our asses off. Frankly, I am baffled as to why the reviews are so tepid and why our presence doubled the number of people in the theater. Why wouldn't people want to see a movie that features fantastic songs like "Rock Me Sexy Jesus", "Raped In The Face", and "You're

      HAMLET 2 Review
HAMLET 2 is a comedy that got my hopes up but never reaches quite exactly what it promises. It’s got potential but it lacks many things that would make a decent movie. It has… some funny moments but most jokes miss the target. You’d chuckle sometimes here and there but for the most part, [...]

      Grave Diggers Scene in 'Hamlet'
The Grave diggers scene (Act V, sc. i) in ‘Hamlet’ has been frequently called as a definitive final scene in Hamlet’s journey. According to F.T. Prince, it is the scene in which Hamlet finds his way after stumbling through a jungle of emotions. The grave digger scene is divided into two parts; in the first part, Hamlet contemplates the morality of man as he watches the human skull being tossed from their sleepy graves by the grave diggers. The entry of Hamlet marks the second part of the scene. He exits his feigned madness when he is stared into the face by the reality of the death of Ophelia.Having escaped death at the hands of robbers and from the King’s conspiracy to eliminate him Hamlet comes back an enlightened man. Part of his enlightenment comes from the fact that Hamlet is n

Importance of Opening Scene of 'Hamlet'
As always, Shakespeare opens his tragedy with minor characters, who supply information about – the prevailing situation and the characters. It is revealed that the state of Denmark is in a state of chaos and disorder. This disorder has been prevailing due to the political event of the death of elder Hamlet and also the preparations that are going on in the state against Norway. Then there is a private event – the disturbed state of mind of the Prince because of political and personal reasons. This sets the stage for the unfolding of the events. The scene also brings the audience face to face with the supernatural. The audience gets curious to know about the ‘why’ of the ghost and reason for the political chaos. It becomes apparent that Horatio is deeply attached to the Prince and woul

      "Hamlet", Fragmentos

      Hamlet's Madness
Hamlet’s madness has been one of the most discussed topics among critics. The groundlings of Elizabethan stage were demanding. They wanted to see something new being performed on the stage. During the Elizabethan age the society at such a stage that they were experiencing the after-effects of Renaissance. They were still in the process of realizing the immense potentialities of a human being. The abnormal conditions portrayed on stage were like the inner processes being unfolded in the front of their eyes. Another reason was the desire of the human beings to see something dramatic in front of them.Hamlet’s feigned madness was like an outlet for his pent up emotions. I feel it is the crux of the play. He uses an abnormal condition to verify what a supernatural thing (ghost of his father) told him. He uses it as a tool and his aid. Hamlet’s ‘crafty madness’ provides him with a chance of observing other normal human beings.Hamlet at one place comments:“The time is out of joint

What's Happening in the Hamlet of Chappaqua
I got to spend quite a bit of time in Chappaqua this year because I had several buyers for the northern areas of Westchester County. I lived in northern Westchester for over ten years and know the area quite well. I found that there is a lot to like about Chappaqua. The town, the schools, there is loads of commuter parking, the parks, there is a Starbucks and then of course there is Bill and Hilary. There are discussions underway about improving the Town which is probably a good idea. There is a myriad of places to eat, clothing stores, a local hardware store, a bagel store and some antique shops. The plans they are discussing for the downtown area will be posted on the Town website and in the meantime you can read about in the article posted below that appeared in the Journal News today. Oh, and yes my client did buy a house in Chappaqua.Plans for Downtown ChappaquaTown of North Castle Website

The Unintentional Placement of Shakespeare's Hamlet
While scanning my shelves for something new-ish to read (I have a fiction kick going on these days), I notice the, quite unintentional, placement of Shakespeare's Hamlet: between two copies of Reviving Ophelia: Saving the selves of adolescent girls, by Mary Pipher. Why do I have two copies of that book? I don't know. Probably picked the last one up, forgetting-at the time-I already had a copy.
