The Federal Government revealed it would help Toyota by giving it $35 million from its $500 million Green Car Innovation Fund, money Toyota said could help subsidise the higher cost of the hybrid. Premier John Brumby joined Toyota executives and staff at Altona yesterday to celebrate the announcement, but refused to reveal how much Victorian taxpayers would be kicking in to the project. My stove, grill, and oven definitely make it evident that I cook pretty often. That's always my excuse when my mom comes over. It's not that I don't clean my stove and grill, but it's hard to get that stuff off. It's burnt on grease! Our new cleaning lady, Marcela, introduced me to Easy-Off Heavy Duty Oven Cleaner. Man this stuff is powerful. Look how clean my stove is! I'm sorry I didn't have the foresight to take before pictures, but if you cook often, you can use your imagination. It's also possible that Marcela is much better than the first cleaning lady we tried but she says Easy Off is good stuff, and she should know.Hallelujah! Praise the powerful cleaner!

It's rainin' friends, hallelujah...
The keyword for this week in DC has been RAIN, my friends. Quack quack, gonna build an ark.I was so happy to spend time with Kandi this week. It wasn't much but it helped me out as far as my general mood. You see, Kandi is one of those people who doesn't get hung up on trappings. She's very down to earth and very tolerant of others. Hell, she and I have been through the "same boyfriend" thing, and she and I survived it. If two women can't survive that, they can't survive anything. She remarried last year, and is happier in her love life than I've ever seen her. She deserves happiness, though...every bit of it.She's a complete 180 from another dear friend of mine, WG. WG is a very organized person, which she needs to be in order to be a successful businesswoman. However, WG also i

Hallelujah The Hills - Prepare To Qualify EP
I really enjoyed the debut album from Boston band, Hallelujah The Hills. The album, Collective Psychosis Begone, had just enough freak out, distorted vocal, two minute caffeine enhanced tunes to get me hooked. And now the band have some new tunes to share, in the form of a new EP, titled Prepare To [...]

      Hallelujah
Over twenty years ago when I was in high school, I was singing in the thirty-member adult choir at my church. We were not a musically talented group as a whole. We enjoyed singing together, and we enjoyed supporting our small church in this way. I don't even remember who the choir director was at that point, but he got it in his mind that we would perform Handel's Messiah one Christmas. I

      Hallelujah
Well, maybe things are not always so bad. I do have nightmares sometimes, but it doesn't mean life sucks. I don't want to say, finally, yay, my college life is going to over soon, and yet all the hard work seems be paid off in time. One thing I need myself to remember is 'never  give up on my dreams'. I will see...The obstacles and pains are the things that only myself can understand. Right now, all I want to say is 'Hallelujah!'

Halloween At Front Street, Hallelujah Party at Hope, Are you ready for Halloween?
About two years ago, I told my husband "I have been living on Maui for 10 years (more or less), and I have not once gone to the Front Street for Halloween - I've got to do it at least once". And so we did. We went in 2005. Having kids though, our main focus was the "children's parade" and we did not stay for the later night "mardi grass" type celebration which is the highlight of the night. Are you planning on going to Lahanina this year for Halloween? We are not. We did it once, and once is good enough for me. But for many especially for the young and single, it's a fun place to be.The Front Street Halloween celebration almost got banned this year. Back in August some members of the Native Hawaiian community requested that the Halloween celebration not be held in this historical site. However, the Maui County Cultural Resource Commission did not grant that request after a hearing was held about it.So, back to Halloween celebration, instead of going to Front Street, we are going to

Revelations of Heaven and Hell… Hallelujah!
It seems that 7 Columbian youths were taken by Jesus up to Heaven and shown the glories of God. The first three of the six testimonies, the seventh having been lost due to technical difficulties, are the longest and best constructed. The last three strike me as having been thrown in to hit a couple of talking points that needed emphasis. Apparently the youths were snatched up by Jesus, and shown heaven. Despite the headline, Revelations of Heaven and Hell to 7 Youths, only two mention Hell, and that in passing. Once at Heaven the angels (Testimony 1)… oh, wait, Jesus (Testimony 2) opened the Gates and let the kids go inside. There is a tree, a field of flowers, fish that caress your body and that don’t freak out when you take them out of the water. I learned some things. 1 ) “God is absolutely rich and He owns all the riches in the world.” (Testimony 1) 2 ) And he’ll give you some bling if you love him. (Testimony 1) Actually, I already knew this. It

We have pee in the potty, ladies and gentlemen!Sweetpea finally did the deed on her potty for the first time! We've been encouraging her to use it, have shown her how (thanks Princess!) and have talked a lot about being a "big girl." In my mind, I knew that she just wasn't ready.Hubby was wondering when the day would arrive. He was all about trying to give her liquids at certain times, and putting her on the potty at certain times. I figured that when she was ready, she was ready. She would sit there and say, "see, mommy, I'm going potty! psssssssssssssssss!" She was great at the peepee sound. But no actual urine.Until today!Of course, now she wants to hang out in the bathroom, waiting for pee. All the time. Hey, I'll take today! I did the happy dance and rewarded her with a little lollipop. Pumpkin and Princess wanted lollipops, too, and I explained that they got special rewards when THEY started using the potty and that they (whispered) could have a lollipop in a w

"They are proof God exists. Yes, Hallelujah!"
We may have a new record in extreme meme-induced stupidity here: Rev. Glenn Fulton and his wife Linda were celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary in Amelia Island, Fla. during the Fourth of July weekend when they went for a walk to pray. As the couple asked God for guidance, they said they snapped some photographs of the sunrise. When the Fulton's left the beach, they noticed the images. "While we were in the elevator, I began to look at my pictures, and I told my wife, I said, 'Look at these pictures and tell me what you see,'" Glenn Fulton said. "She said, 'Oh my God, I see a face." The Fulton's said angels are everywhere in the photo, just like God's grace. "They are proof God exists," Fulton said. "Yes, Hallelujah. So, we bless God for the pictures and I hope to have them for years to come." This is the kind of "proof" that suffices for the religious mind. But I'm curious about something: Why do these buffoons need proof in the first place - isn't that what their min

      Safari on Windows - Hallelujah!
At the WWDC (World Wide Developer’s Conference) today, Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs announced a few new things (iPhone stuff, new Mac OS blah blah). The most interesting (and most surprising) announcement was a port of Safari (Apple’s default web browser) into Windows XP and Vista. What this means for Web Developers This means us Windows developers can now test all our sites on Safari natively without having to run to the closest Best Buy or Apple Store to do testing. Nor do we have to use services like BrowsrCamp — which are good, but only give you an image of a screen rendering. Now we can finally properly design without discriminating! A Primary Browser? Steve Jobs wants you to use Safari as your primary browser regardless of what operating system you use (even Linux with Windows virtualization). But in my opinion, Firefox with its countless add-ons beats out Safari regardless of operating system. Still, it’s bound to please those Mac fanatics that can&r

Dirty On Purpose - Hallelujah Sirens
Doctor A from Rotoworld gave us the heads-up about Dirty on Purpose from Brooklyn. He has been pimping them in his columns for quite some time and I finally heeded his advice and downloaded the album, Halleluha Sirens. Doc said that they have a Sonic Youth feel to them and I’ve read that they were a sort of shoegazer outfit. Usually not the description that gets me fired up to listen, but I respect Doc’s opinion. I first listened to it on the way down to Austin for SXSW. I don’t know if I was just so excited to be flying without a kid on my lap but I was digging them right from the first listen. The first track, “No Radio”, comes at you with the prerequisite fuzzed-out guitars and dreamy vocals, but there are some nice horns and even catchier hooks in the tune. The rest of the disc follows suit. There are a couple of songs that didn’t really grab me. They just kind of drifted by without me taking notice, but there were more than enough stellar trac

      Hallelujah!! UCONN Men Finally Win
In a very ugly game on Saturday, it took overtime but the UCONN Men halted their 5 game losing skid behind the play of Jeff Adrien and Jerome Dyson. Those two players led UCONN to a 61-50 overtime win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Adrien led the way with 19 points and 7 rebounds while Jerome Dyson chipped in 13 points. Craig Austrie added 13 points to the cause as well. For Rutgers, they were led by Jaron Griffin, who scored 18 points. Anthony Farmer added 13 points. The first half was ugly as both teams struggled to make baskets. Between the two teams, they scored 39 points and had 14 baskets between them. UCONN led 23-16 at the half. The second half really wasn’t played that much better other than the fact that UCONN took good control of the ball. Rutgers got it down to 2 points at 28-26 before UCONN went on a 10-3 run which you would have thought that the game was out of reach. Unfortunately for UCONN, they weren’t able to make their free throws down the stretch and

Hallelujah! England have seen the light
Written by Francie and Colm Andy Robinson's "resignation" today will have caused many England fans to exhale. But he didn't leave before making his excuses. In a statement he said: "The current structure and system for developing elite rugby players and performance in the international arena is not working". Robinson may have a point. The physical demands being asked of England players in the Guinness League are causing more injuries and more tiredness. England supporters often look lustfully over the Irish Sea at a system that puts players and their game schedules first. His obituary will read as thus - he has filled the post of England Head Coach for 22 test matches. His record stands at won 9 - lost 13, seven of them in a row, equally a losing streak record. The last straw came with Saturday's defeat to the Springboks, a game England lead 14-3 at one stage. With talk of replacements such as Warren Gatland and former playing legend Martin Johnson been touted, Twickenham's bi

Canned Heat - Hallelujah (1968) 256kbps With Bob...
Canned Heat - Hallelujah (1968)256kbps With Bob Hite and Alan Wilson switching off on vocals, Canned Heat delivered as consistent a blues product as George Thorogood, only with more diversity and subtle musical nuances keeping the listener involved. "Same All Over" breaks no new ground, opening up the Hallelujah disc, but the enthusiasm and reverence the band has for the genre is special. Al Wilson's distinctive voice -- heard on two Top 20 hit records in 1968 -- is enhanced with his eerie whistling on "Change My Ways" and the wonderfully ragged instrumentation. The way the keys bubble up under the guitars, it would have been a natural for these guys to groove their way into a Grateful Dead-style jam band thing, but two vocalists dying within an 11-year span is a bit much for any ensemble. The name Canned Heat is so cool that it becomes the title of the third song. "Canned Heat" is a pretty accurate description of what they play, and the bluesy, slow Bob Hite vocal works wonders over

      Hallelujah! an idea
I've basically pinned down an idea for my novel. I don't really want to give too much away here because I've heard horror stories about people getting their ideas ripped off by scurrilous writers.... which is very sad and depressing.But.... essentially, my story is going to involve communication through time to earlier human races or branches of the human evolutionary tree and modern day scientific jiggery pokery. It will have mutations, evil monks and of course - evolution. I'm looking forward to getting started on it. I want to try and develop the ideas of the characters first though and also think out a novel structure that in some way resembles the process of evolution itself.... so, not much to do!I keep getting side tracked though because i've just started a Masters course at the University of Sussex. I'm studying Biodiversity Surveying which is taking up all my time at the moment. Biodiversity surveying basically means learning how to identify all the plants and animals an
