This lesbian love story won best feature awards at both the New York and Los Angeles gay and lesbian film festivals this year. Featuring Cirque de Soleil-like aerial acrobatics, The Gymnast is the breathtaking story of the unfolding love between two gymnasts. Jane is a former Olympic gymnast whose childhood dream of getting gold was cut short when she was injured at the height of her career. Now in a comfortable but passionless marriage and working as a message therapist, Jane knows her life is not her personal best. A chance meeting with another gymnast leads to an opport
Who knows how, why, when, or where we will fall in love. I like to think of true love as the last great mystery. I'm all for those famous quotes like, "Love conquers all!" and "Love will find you when you least expect it." I'm a hopeless romantic to a fault, and The Gymnast played right into my some times painful hopeless romantic tendencies.Talented Jane Hawkins (Dreya Weber, Lovely & Amazing) was an impressive gymnast at the top of her game until a devastating injury ended her career. A very dear friend of ours asked me to do a small painting for a fund raiser to benefit a local gymnastics program. I have been having a hard time painting lately, but something about a purposeful exercise (excuse the pun) made me jump at the chance to do something different. here is the result:I wanted the image of the gymnast to be expressive, but loose and effortless. Have you ever seen those fairies on the balance beam? They are so graceful! As a father though, I always worry when I see them plunge in a riding pose on the beam. That has got to hurt no?
I'd like to kick this site off with a hilarious clip of a gymnastics accident. It's an older one, and most people have seen it, but probably not lately. It involves a gymnast running full speed at a pommel horse - I won't say any more and spoil it for those who haven't seen it.
I first saw this clip 6 years ago and laughed so hard I almost couldn't breathe. I must have watched it 30 times in a
