Car companies are intensively scouting for terminals for exporting cars from India. Car manufacturers developing and manufacturing their global cars in India are looking for sea port to exports their products to more lucrative markets in the West. Some of the ports seen the radar of car companies are Mundra port, Vansi Barsi port, Maroli port, Pipavav, Okha or Kandla, all of these located in Gujarat. Moreover, the close proximity to Mumbai and Pune where most car companies have their hubs will help Gujarat to emerge as leader in another field.

Jaguar and land Rover have created a sensation in India after Tata Motors acquired the iconic luxury cars recently. Hitherto, the cars were unknown to Indian masses till the takeover bid was announced. But Jaguar cars have been owned by British Royalty’s like Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles and is the ultimate society statement in UK. But little has been known that Jaguar have long been favourites of some of Gujarat’s erstwhile royal families. Maharaja Chaitanyadev Sinhji of Wadhwan owned Jaguar E-type which he raced across several car races in world. He now owns a XJS Jag. Another jumping cat symbol car was owned by Maharaja Jyotindrasinhji of Gondal. His favourite is a Jaguar car and he raced the XK 150 Jaguar in the 70’s.
Aimed at bringing the much-needed transparency in Gujarat’s real estate, the revised Jantri prices — a ready reckoner for stamp duty — may further put pressure on realty prices.
There is a mixed opinion on whether Gujarat’s real estate sector, which is showing signs of a slowdown, would see a price correction. However, a group of [...]

Ahmedabad Office of NDTV, India's largest private producer of news and current affairs, has been vandalized by a Hindu fundamentalist group. Not because the NDTV reported wrong about the group... Not Because they hurt the religious sentiments... Not even because NDTV sided with the minority groups... It was just because they included "Picasso of India" as one of the contestants in their opinion poll for Bharat Ratna, . Read the news here. While some of the experts may use this incident to point an trend of increasing attacks of Hindu fundamentalist parties and their high intolerance, I am left numb with the question: How can a group get the courage to attack the regional office of India's largest television Production House? Is not the same courage that emboldened the Congress members to at

So now the Election Commission will question Sonia Gandhi about her "merchants of death" remark, which led to Narendra Modi’s admissions regarding the Sohrabuddin encounter killing.Modi and the BJP claim that his remarks on the Sohrabuddin case were in reaction to what Mrs. Gandhi said about him. This is a wonderful illustration of the Hindi idiom, ulta chor kotwal ko dante (the thief rebukes the policeman). Let’s also hope the Congress president decides to let those party members who stand accused in the 1984 riots get their just desserts. There are basically two points of view regarding the remarks made about and by Modi, which are stated very clearly by Swaminathan S Anklesaria Aiyar and Vir Sanghvi. According to Aiyar, the "merchants of death" remark made by Mrs. Gandhi and the sub

I invested in Gujarat gas back in 2003 and exited my position by 2006. I recently read the following post on ranjit’s blog. As Gujarat gas is one of his top 5 holdings, I decided to re-look at the company to see what I am missing out as I had exited my position sometime back and did not feel that the company is under-valued.I found the following positives- Gujarat gas now sources almost 95% of its gas requirements at market prices now and has been able to maintain the operating margins. In 2003, a substantial portion of gas was procured at subsidized rates and hence there was a risk of margin reduction. The company has been able to manage the transition very well.- There has been a substantial reduction in the transmission income. The company has managed this well by expanding the other lines of revenue- There is substantial expansion in progress at Vapi and Jaghadia. Vapi will contribute to revenue in 2007- Gas volumes, no. of retail customers and bulk customers are all increasing a

Now onwards, industrialists and real estate developers in Gujarat will not require bribing or running after the district collectors to get 11 different no-objection certificates (NOCs) to acquire the non-agricultural (NA) permission, documents necessary to buy land for non agriculture purpose.
It would now be a responsibility of district collectors to confine their activities to see if the title of land is clear after verifying the land records. They will also have to ensure that the land is not involved in any material pending legal proceedings. It should neither belong to the new tenure, under which landless and marginal farmers were given the land during the time of land reforms.
The move has been decided at a high level meeting in Gandhinagar. Also, a government resolution concerning the new procedure will be out soon, informs a senior official.
The required 11 NOCs will include the permission from the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd, Gujarat Pollution Control Board, roads and buildin
Gujarat riots still haunt the national psyche even after 5 years. It got all the media attention it deserved and continued to get it year after year. The culprits were booked and the law is taking it’s own course. However, there is one more tragedy happening, on a much bigger scale and repeating itself every year unfortunately though. It does not attract any media attention as there are no spicy politics involved and nobody is bothered because the culprits involved are elected governments. Yes, I am talking about farmer’s suicides.
