Guitarist for hire-or start a project
First and foremost, I'm a ROCK guitar player. That would mean no jazz, country, hip-hop, rap, disco. Rock would mean, bluesy-classic rock, modern progressive-alternative, metal, and even southern rock styles. Generally dig, music that is guitar based (ie no techno crap). would be up to starting a band (have connections on other players)or joining a band. Have done originals and covers, a fast learner. Have played both lead and rhythym, it's all guitar anyways ain't it? Experience is over 20 years. Plenty of professional equipment to play small bars to large arenas. I also have a full PA system, always nice to have on hand. You can e mail me at rebelrokker@[removed]. Give me your phone number so I can talk with an actual person, or else you will not receive a response. If you're a band, it would help if you provide an idea of where you're musical paths are leading you. Best Guitarist of this Era?
Hi ATOMIC fans. I was reading the Ultimate Guitar forum today and came across a huge discussion on Who's the Best Guitarist of this Era. Check it out. I keep hearing guitarists lately say John Mayer is so great, not just at the UG forum, but all over the place. Gag me with a spoon... John Mayer is actually pretty good, but I do the opposite of vibe out when I hear it.

How to Become the Greatest Rock Guitarist Ever
This is going to be an easy one, ATOMIC fans. Because I'm actually the greatest Rock guitarist ever. But not really. In theory what would you have to do to become the greatest Rock guitarist of all time? Here's my list: 1. Surpass the Most Skilled Guitarists First you'd have to be better than, say, Joe Satriani on a pure skill level. You'd also have to get better than Jimi Hendrix, Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen, and plenty of other legends. 2. Become More Famous and More Influential You'd also have to become more famous than the most famous guitarists of all time like Jimmy Page, Kurt Cobain, and the others mentioned above. You'd also need to be famous and at the same time more influential than the most influential guitarists of all like Stephen Malkmus (Pavement/low-fi movement), Joey Santiago (Pixies/pre-grunge), Johnny Ramone (Ramones/punk rock), Neil Young ("slop rock"), the others mentioned above, and many many more. 3. Be More Progressive In order to become the greatest R

Hey ATOMIC fans. I have a huge announcement. ATOMIC Guitarist may be going communal starting this week, in which anyone can sign up and have a guitar blog. I have two goals in mind: 1) Help each other become the best guitarists we can be in a positive way. 2) Allow anyone to have a voice among thousands of guitarists on the net. Membership will be free. Also, I just wanted to say that talking to myself most of the time has become boring. I like to hear what others have to say about things. If you have any objections, please reply below.

Death Cab's Guitarist Chris Walla Gets a Visit From Homeland Security
Monday Chris Walla, Guitarist of Death Cab For Cutie, was paid a visit by homeland security. The government took his computer for no valid reason (actually, they never really gave a clear explanation why). Possibly because the would-have-soon-debuted album called Field Manual sat in the hard drive. "(The New Album) is "very political," packed with songs about issues both foreign ("The Score" tackles the war in Iraq) and domestic ("Everyone Needs a Home" deals with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina; "Sing Again" is about so-called "morning after" pills and whether they're a form of contraception or abortion)." -Source: MTV News Chris Walla and Death Cab's music promotes terrorism! I mean, CDs can be dangerous if you sharpen the edges and throw them like frisbees. Great work Homeland Security. I guess freedom of speech isn't the same as the freedom to rock.

      Fastest Guitarist Ever Joe Satriani
Following #1 Charlie Christian #2 Joe Pass #3 Jimmy Page #4 Wes Montgomery And Number 5... on the ATOMIC Greatest Guitarists of All Time List, the fastest guitarist in the world, the one and only, the stunning, the innovative, the severely skilled: Joe Satriani Uh oh, what did he say? First let me clear up my statement about "Satch" being the fastest guitarist in the world. A lot of shredders out there don't like to give Joe Satriani the credit he deserves because in stead of shredding, he plays one-hand legato style. But... he plays a whole lot of 32nd notes at a blazing speed, which makes him the quickest. It's said the reason he plays legato is because he likes the sound of 32nd notes more than 16th. Joe Satriani is the second rocker on the ATOMIC greatest guitarists list. Why is that? In 1986, Satch became the first purely instrumental rock guitarist to be put in the spotlight. And thus good sir, he has inspired an entire generation of highly-advanced guitarists th

Some of you may remember that last Wednesday I went to see Envy Corps at Water Rats in London, however they had to cancel the show suddenly. Well, news has since emerged as to why they had to cancel so abruptly: guitarist Brandon had suffered a stroke. Only 30, he is expected to make a full recovery. Our thoughts are with him and his family… so unexpected. Photo is taken from Stephen Mcleod’s flickr stream under the Creative Commons License. Greatest Rock Guitarist of All Time Jimmy Page
Jimmy Page Rock guitarist Jimmy Page of the Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin is the ATOMIC #3 greatest guitarist of all time (#1 was Charlie Christian, #2 Joe Pass). Why is Jimmy Page the first rock guitarist on this master list? One word: influential. Page's technique of down-stroking chords and power chords influenced the earliest punk rock guitarists like Johnny Ramone and thus, all of Punk Rock and any style of Rock like Alternative and New Rock. Also, Jimmy Page is the greatest Rock guitarist of all time because of his Riff Rock, which still is a key element in Heavy Metal music. You might not know this one. Eddie Van Halen is often credited for being the creator of finger-tapping technique. That was actually Jimmy Page. While Rock guitarist Van Halen may have taken finger tapping to an amazing level, he originally learned it from Page. Furthermore, Jimmy Page was a pioneer in guitar recording techniques doing things no one had ever heard like the effects of putting mics

The Greatest Guitarist of All Time
To kick off the ATOMIC 10 Greatest Guitarists of All Time Period... Drum roll please. Charlie Christian Who was Charlie Christian and why is he the greatest guitarist of all time? At 23-years-old Charlie Christian became the most innovative guitarists of his time. In the late 1930s guitars were used as backup instruments because they weren't loud enough. No one had thought about playing guitar as if it were a horn. It was never the lead instrument in a group of musicians. Christian was the greatest guitarist of all time because he started using an amplifier to play loud enough to be the soloist of a group. We have Charlie Christian to credit for the evolution of music on the electric guitar. If it weren't for him, we'd all be listening to horns and I for one would have already blown my head off. Can you imagine a guitarist like Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine playing "Killing in the Name Of" on a saxophone instead of a guitar? Charlie Christian's 1940 "Flying Ho

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has demanded apologies
Rolling Stone’s loud mouthed guitarist Keith Richards has demanded that two Swedish newspapers apologise for publishing bad reviews of one of the band’s recent gigs on their world tour. Keith Richards, in a letter to the concert promoters wrote, ““Never before have I risen to the bait of a bad review. You owe our fans and us an apology.” Newspaper Expressen used the headline “Keith was super drunk”, giving the 63 year-old no stars for his performance. The second reviewer in the equation, in the paper Aftonbladet has refused to apologise for his “subjective opinion”. and gave the whole show a measly 2 stars. The letter written by Richard’s was published in Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter, continued to say, “There were 56,000 people in Ullevi stadium who bought a ticket to our concert - and experienced a completely different show than the one you ‘reviewed’. How dare you cheapen the experience for them - and for the hundreds of thousands of other

Bashing the New Smashing Pumpkin Guitarist
Burn-out Smashing Pumpkins members Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlan held a 13 minute YouTube Q & A interview yesterday. You got to love the great guitar work from their songs throughout the years, but holy Moses you can tell by the interview that the members of the group aren't hungry at all anymore. Worse, they make me (at least) want to fall asleep. The only good thing about the interview was hearing a little bit about Billy Corgan's setup: Custom-built Strat with Dimarzio pickups Diezel Herbert Amp (German) "Weird Effects Pedals" with German names, so he couldn't pronounce them From what I can tell the Smashing Pumpkins new album "Zeitgeist" has some solid guitar work from newcomer Jeff Schroeder. But not that great... Maybe I'm just in a bad mood today, but I feel the urge to severely rip on one of my all-time favorite bands in this highly one-sided post. SP, I love you/I hate you. A Gifted and Talented Child Already a Rock Star: Guitarist Alex "Raz"
Alex "Raz" is a gifted and talented child already a rock star at 9-years-old. In March Raz was discovered playing on the reality show "Finding Julian's Band". Since then he's picked up fans all over the internet at sites like YouTube and Yahoo! VIDEO. Father Steve Raz has been the brains behind the promotion of his rock star child. "I could just tell. I just showed him a little finger exercise, and I could just tell, he picked it up pretty quick" -Alex's Father Alex's first album debuts in October featuring his old buddy from the reality show, 7-year-old singer Vincent Fondale. Alex Raz's influences include guitarists Eddie Van Halen, SRV, Satriani, Slash, and more, so we can expect it to sound like a hybrid of exciting guitar rock. Okay, this gifted child may not seem amazing to few, but let me say this. When I used to teach private guitar lessons, the 9-year-olds I taught could barely press down a string. They had an attention span of a fly. The best and most talented of

Guitar Lesson: Learn To Become A Sight Reading Guitarist - By Peter Edvinsson
By Peter Edvinsson It’s time for you to reap the benefits from all sheet music that has been written by good composers. Let’s see how you can improve your sight reading skills. I know by own experience that many guitarists at first find it hard to read sheet music. Why is that? A guitar is a fantastic instrument in many ways. One interesting feature is that you can find the same note on different strings. It makes for interesting effects if you want. However, the same feature can make it hard to read a sheet music note as you can find it on more than one place on a guitar. Many beginners on classical guitar master the notes in the first position on the guitar. That is, the first four frets on the fretboard. I suggest that you also learn to find the notes you know on the first four frets on your guitar on the higher frets. For example, the C on the first fret on the second string can also be found on the fifth fret on the third string and on the tenth fret on the fourth

Ex-Kiss Guitarist Mark St. John Dies
Former Kiss guitarist Mark St. John died yesterday morning (April 5) from an apparent brain hemorrhage. He was 51.Born Mark Norton in Hollywood, Calif., St. John was Kiss' third official guitarist, having replaced Vinnie Vincent in 1984. By this point, Kiss had done away with its trademark makeup and costumes, but the group was enjoying a career renaissance. The lone Kiss album on which St. John appeared, "Animalize," re-established the group as one of the world's top arena metal bands. The album spawned the popular MTV video, "Heaven's on Fire" (the only Kiss video to feature St. John).St. John's flashy playing reflected the era's Van Halen-influenced rock guitarists, but it certainly helped spark the material on "Animalize," which many fans consider one of Kiss' strongest non-makeup releases. However, right around the time Kiss was to launch a worldwide tour in support of the album, St. John was diagnosed with a form of arthritis called Reiter's Syndrome, which caused his hand

Ex-Smiths guitarist joins American band and beats Morrissey to No 1
In have listened to the new album - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank - of an indieband named Modest Mouse, and also posted about it here. Now I found out more information about this band from The Independent: Morrissey may have hogged the headlines since the Smiths split in 1987 but this week Johnny Marr is celebrating a triumph that his former bandmate has never savoured. Working with his new band, the indie rockers Modest Mouse, the guitarist has gone straight to the top of the American album charts with We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. It is the first time Marr has had a No 1 record in the States and We Were Dead... has also topped the iTunes download chart and the Amazon chart. The album will be released in the UK next week. If you go to the band´s MySpace-page you can listen so some of the tracks from the new album (found from a blogger in Svenska Dabladet).
