Casey Calvert, guitarist for post punk/ rock band Hawthorne Heights, was found dead early Saturday morning. Calvert was 26-years-old.
According to several accounts Calvert appeared healthy on Friday night while spending time with friends before going to sleep for the night. Those same reports indicated that Calvert passed away at some point while sleeping.

I keep hearing guitarists lately say John Mayer is so great, not just at the UG forum, but all over the place. Gag me with a spoon... John Mayer is actually pretty good, but I do the opposite of vibe out when I hear it.
This is going to be an easy one, ATOMIC fans. Because I'm actually the greatest Rock guitarist ever. But not really.
In theory what would you have to do to become the greatest Rock guitarist of all time? Here's my list:
1. Surpass the Most Skilled Guitarists
First you'd have to be better than, say, Joe Satriani on a pure skill level. You'd also have to get better than Jimi Hendrix, Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen, and plenty of other legends.
2. Become More Famous and More Influential
You'd also have to become more famous than the most famous guitarists of all time like Jimmy Page, Kurt Cobain, and the others mentioned above. You'd also need to be famous and at the same time more influential than the most influential guitarists of all like Stephen Malkmus (Pavement/low-fi movement), Joey Santiago (Pixies/pre-grunge), Johnny Ramone (Ramones/punk rock), Neil Young ("slop rock"), the others mentioned above, and many many more.

First let me clear up my statement about "Satch" being the fastest guitarist in the world. A lot of shredders out there don't like to give Joe Satriani the credit he deserves because in stead of shredding, he plays one-hand legato style.
But... he plays a whole lot of 32nd notes at a blazing speed, which makes him the quickest. It's said the reason he plays legato is because he likes the sound of 32nd notes more than 16th.

Some of you may remember that last Wednesday I went to see Envy Corps at Water Rats in London, however they had to cancel the show suddenly.
Well, news has since emerged as to why they had to cancel so abruptly: guitarist Brandon had suffered a stroke. Only 30, he is expected to make a full recovery.
Our thoughts are with him and his family… so unexpected.

Rolling Stone’s loud mouthed guitarist Keith Richards has demanded that two Swedish newspapers apologise for publishing bad reviews of one of the band’s recent gigs on their world tour.
Keith Richards, in a letter to the concert promoters wrote, ““Never before have I risen to the bait of a bad review. You owe our fans and us an apology.” Newspaper Expressen used the headline “Keith was super drunk”, giving the 63 year-old no stars for his performance.
The second reviewer in the equation, in the paper Aftonbladet has refused to apologise for his “subjective opinion”. and gave the whole show a measly 2 stars.
