A Guidebook To Primary Material For Perfect Finger-Nails Posted By : Jacob Smithson Jr.
Nails are an essential part of a man or womans body and require being taken care of and kept well kempt. Nothing underplays your general personality like untidy nails. No matter how attractively you are appareled, dirty, un-groomed or grungy nails can genuinely put a indent on your gross appearance. More: continued here [...]

      Guidebook
Once you have an idea of where you want to start your journey, go buy only the guidebook for your first destination. Books are too heavy and expensive to carry more than one destination’s worth. Besides, you can trade with other travelers that have just come from your next country or buy them locally. Lonely Planet [...]

WikiTravel - A Travel GuideBook of Tomorrow

WikiTravel.org is a very useful site for all of you travelers, surfing for up to date info about your next travel destination. It was inspired by Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, and by the needs of travellers for timely information that long

      Death of the (guidebook) author?
If you've been following the Lonely Planet author fraud scandal or the Thomas Kohnstamm Affair as some of us like to call it, and you've read the comments following online articles and visited Lonely Planet's travellers' forum Thorn Tree, then you may well think this spells the end for guidebook authors. Or at the very least you've now formed a bad impression of travel writers, that they

      Death of the guidebook?
That's the headline of a story in The Age yesterday written by former Lonely Planet writer Chris Taylor who recounts his discovery that the author who'd updated the China guide before him hadn't visited places himself, but had sub-contracted a cafe owner (who subsequently recruited his cousin!) to do the research instead. Taylor argues that due to increasing competition, guidebooks can't generate

MELBOURNE - Lonely Planet's new "Australia" guidebook, published this month, will feature an all-new section called the GreenDex -- a quick-reference index of sustainable accommodation, tours and experiences to help visitors travel responsibly within the country. With a growing number of travellers recognising the importance of travelling sustainably, Lonely Planet is steadily increasing the amount of responsible travel content in its guides. In a recent Lonely Planet survey of 24,500 travellers worldwide, over 90 percent of people said they would consider travelling in a low-impact way in the future. The addition of the GreenDex to this new "Australia" guidebook enables travellers to easily look up the best eco experiences in the country.Senior commissioning editor, Errol Hunt, said he hoped the new Australia guidebook would "help travellers ensure that their own travel leaves as light a 'footprint' as possible, while still being fun and enlightening."The attractions, tours and accom

Product of the Week: Greece Culture Smart Travel Guidebook
I have found a really great series of books on Amazon which are all guidebooks to places all over the world, but instead of just describing to you the best places to go when you get there, it also describes cultural differences as well as etiquette for a particular place. If you are inspired as I am to go to Greece someday, you should check out this book! Greece - Culture Smart!: a quick guide to customs and etiquette (Culture Smart!) I would be curious to hear from Mel of Mel’s Diner or any other ex-pats living in Greece or any Greek ex-pats living in the US on cultural differences between the United States and Greece. That would be an interesting topic of discussion!

3 Good Reasons to Burn your Guidebook

      Ireland Trip: Lonely Planet Guidebook
Although I always feel very touristy when I buy a guidebook, I find that the guidebooks such as Frommers or Lonely Planet provide great insight to hostels, activities, and more. I primarily use Lonely Planet (I'm not getting paid) since their material is more update to date. When I went to Japan last summer, I used a Frommers guide to find accommodations (particularly a capsule hotel) and discovered that the place had shutdown. I'm not sure who to blame, the hotel or Frommers, but I know that such an incident has yet to happen with Lonely Planet. As I was looking through the Lonely Planet Ireland Edition, I found many new surf shops which provide lessons. One that I am quite impressed with is T-Bay Surf & Wildlife. It provides surf lessons and equipment for about $35 and is quite w

Budget Travel Tips You’ll Never Read In A Guidebook
Well, maybe if it was a really good guidebook… guest post by madeleine somerville Previously, I wrote about working abroad and I offered many helpful and practical tips (if I do say so myself). Now I am going to bestow some more financial advice regarding how to save money while traveling, but with one important difference - these are tips you’re not likely to read in any Lonely Planet or Rough Guide. Intrigued? Let’s begin. First of all, if you’re a man I am warning you now that some of these strategies will require trust and flirting. Accordingly they may be a little more easier to wield if you are a creature with breasts and sleek shaven legs, but don’t get discouraged - perseverance is key! A little cologne couldn’t hurt either. “Borrow Food” In the Hostel Please note that I said borrow, not steal. Borrowing implies two things, (1) permission from the owner and (2) replacement of the item. You already know that it’s usually cheaper to buy

      Throw Away the Guidebook
Travellers should never adhere to any suggestions about what the supposed “highlights” of their destination might be. Highlights ought to be personal, not lifted from a guidebook or acquired from knowledgeable friends who’ve been there before you! To illustrate what I mean, here are three things that I’m still thinking about after a recent trip through Asia and Europe. In Bangkok… Karma seems to be holding out, so far In Bangkok I noticed that whole families travel on the one scooter, with apparent disregard for their safety. That’s taken care of by a scooter-blessing they can obtain from their local Buddhist Monks, who offset their otherwise frugal existence by dispensing such rites. Buddhist monks are thick on the ground in Thailand, but so are traffic accidents, which suggests that some riders are unblessed, or — God forbid — the blessings wear thin after so many miles. Whichever one it is, the fact remains that Mum, Dad and th

Roger Lake Research Natural Area: Guidebook Supplement 29
Roger Lake Research Natural Area (RNA), a 174.7-ha reserve in north-central Washington, contains a rich diversity of landforms, plant communities, and wildlife habitats. Spreading outward from the lake itself, sedge and sphagnum fens give way to upland coniferous forest, granitic cliffs, and a relictual, high-altitude big sagebrush-whitebark pine (Artemisia tridentata-Pinus albicaulis) meadow. Five sensitive plant species and several vertebrate species that are rare in the region occur in the RNA. Dynamic ecological processes in action in the RNA are revealed in the paludification of the forest edge; aging, broken beaver dams; and widespread bark beetle-induced conifer mortality.
