      Subtraction = Growth!?
      I read a very interesting passage in John 6 that kind of got me thinking. I've read it before, but it never stuck out to me like it did this time.Jesus had just finished addressing the crowds of people concerning He being the Bread of Life. It was a bit controversial in the aspect that He said that "unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you cannot have eternal life within you" (John 6:53).This even sent some of Jesus' disciples in to a bit of confusion... (John 6:60)And eventually..."At this point many of His disciples turned away and deserted Him." - John 6:66Interesting, I think.We think growth is about numbers (and it is to an extent). But it's so much more than that... especially when at times, growth will only happen once there is subtraction.Sounds like prun

      How 'smart growth' caused the housing bubble
      These policies, often referred to as "smart growth," create a scarcity of land, artificially raise the price of housing, and, again, have increased the exposure of the market to risky mortgage debt. When more liberal loan policies were implemented, metropolitan areas that had adopted these more restrictive policies lacked the resilient land markets that would have allowed the greater demand to be accommodated without inordinate increases in house prices.A few voices in the wilderness on both sides of the political spectrum have pointed to the role of excessive land use policies in driving up housing costs. For example: Liberal economist Paul Krugman of The New York Times put most of his conservative colleagues to shame in noting that the house price bubble has been limited

      Strive for a Growth Mindset When Considering New Things

It was obvious my friend meant that he hadn’t listened to her. So I asked why the young man hadn’t listened. Her reply was that young people think older people (she’s not that old FYI) don’t know anything. I’ve been puzzling over this conversation for several days. It seems to me that this doesn’t make sense. Why would a first-year law school student in his search for a summer law job not take the advice of someone older who has been there/done that? I truly believe that this is an example of a fixed mindset, which is the focus of Carol Dweck’s book MINDSET: THE NEW PSYCHOLOGY OF SUCCESS. Dweck

      How do hydroponic systems benefit plant growth
      Indoor growing permits the gardener to entirely master the growing conditions. All of the nutrients your plants call for to grow must be provided by your indoor hydroponic arrangement. Lighting, heat, oxygen, carbon dioxide, pH, and plant food should be looked at prior to commencing the set up of your growing organization. Plants metabolise carbon dioxide and H2O to make required energy through the function of photosynthesis. Light is key because it supplies the energy required for this transition. The concentration of the light has been found to boost the measure of energy made. This will keep on going up until the plant reaches its saturation point for light, so you should consistently try to step-up the quantity of light your plants get. Earth Day 2008 - New Growth
      New GrowthThis Blue Spruce pine tree was the first tree we planted at our home over 25 years ago.It has been transplanted and moved many times as it grew, and has been in its final location for over 15 years now.The new growth each spring is a most beautiful shade of green, and by summer it has darkened to match the rest of the needles on the tree.The little chickadees hide and flit around in her branches year round.Some flower gardening and seed planting is on the agenda for this Earth Day 2008. Will be planting some giant Sunflowers - need to keep those birds happy too!

      Fundamental Analysis : What is the Difference Between GDP and Growth Rate
      GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is the total dollar amount of all goods and services produced. The growth rate is the percentage increase or decrease of GDP from the previous measurement cycle. Even though the BEA reports quarterly, the growth rate is annualized so it can be compared to the previous year. The GDP growth rate increases if retail expenditures, government spending, and exports increase. The growth rate will decline with increases in exports, inventory, and declines in consumer, business or government spending. The GDP growth rate is the most important indicator of economic health. If GDP is growing, so will business, jobs and personal income. If GDP is slowing down, then businesses will hold off investing in new purchases and hiring new employees, waiting to see if the economy
