The city of Manchester has grown "from the centre outwards by continuous additions on the fringe of the existing built-up area, and as new districts which adjoined the city were developed, they were incorporated by an extension of boundaries". In consequence, the city falls into four broadly concentric belts that coincide broadly with the concentric belts. The business centre is an area of one square mile in which much of the property is old and will have to be rebuilt and streets widened. The Slum Belt is a circular zone about half to two miles wide around the business centre with buildings erected before 1890 -- a mixture of houses, factories, and warehouses. The Suburban Belt falls into two concentric belts, the inner one containing by-law houses built between 1890 and 1914, that are "d

We met up at Yossi's, our old haunt and it was totally bizarre. These friends that I am so used to seeing in shorts, slops and t-shirts were wearing suits. And ties and shiny shoes. Chris had his hair neatly cut and Aslam was even beginning to have facial hair. Something he'd never previously managed before. They talked about their jobs in fancy law firms, they talked about going to court, about how domestic violence cases are a drag, but for every finalised matter they get a couple hundred bucks on top of their salary. They talked about other people at other firms, and magistrates and judges and having m

Life Insurance Needs Continue Even After the Kids Are Grown
Couples who believe they no longer need life insurance after their youngest child reaches his or her 18th birthday could leave their family vulnerable to serious financial problems, especially if the sole income-earning parent dies. “Term life insurance is a product traditionally purchased to protect the financial future of a surviving spouse and children under the age of 18, and term policies are often allowed to lapse as a couple’s youngest child reaches that milestone,” said Dr. Steven Weisbart, an economist at the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.).Yet even couples with grown children, who have set aside college tuition monies and are close to paying off a mortgage, ought to discuss with their insurance agent or broker the benefits of purchasing a new term life insurance po

      We Have Grown Again
Now that JR hustled over here today to check up on my cryptic blog from yesterday and has learned that it was indeed what he expected , I can blog about it.We have added a new 12 year old daughter to our family. Pictured here with Casey on the left is Julianna who is also from Thailand. Casey is thrilled to have her sister join our family and have been spending the day catching up on old times. The weather here has once again warmed up and I was thrilled to rescue my kitchen countertops from the 250 pots with what is to be our vegetable garden. Another week or two and I should have everything transplanted into the ground.

Cliches 101: But, I've Grown Spiritually
When confronted with the reality of a crooked Church, people often excuse themselves, by citing their spiritual growth.I do not, for one moment, suggest that you haven't grown. In fact, I might even agree.Randy Watters of RandyTV, for instance, grew so much spiritually (while with the Jehovah's Witnesses), that he eventually grew out of them. Steven Allan Hassan of Freedom of Mind Center, grew so much spiritually (while being Assistant Director of the Unification Church), that he grew out of them.Likewise, Richard Bennett of Berean Beacon, grew so much spiritually (while being a Roman Catholic Priest), that after 22 years he grew out of them. It's not a question of growth. It's a question of obedience."I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: Yet not altogether with t

Tiffany Evans featuring Bow Wow ~ I'm Grown (Video Premiere)
Amazing! That is the one word I am using to describe Tiffany Evans. She has a beautiful voice and a great perspective of life. Her new single "I'm Grown" featuring Bow Wow is just excellent. She sounds really good, and from her voice I would think she is in her late 20's but shes only a teen. Her first single, "Promise Ring" with Ciara, was a hit, and this is surely gonna surpass it! This is definitely going to my YouTube favorites, lol! I'm looking forward to hear more from her in the future. Enjoy the video!

      Grown Up
I still haven't quite gotten used to it, how hard it is being a grown-up. I'm not thinking right now about the truly hard things, the anger, the sleep-deprivation, the jettisoning of small dreams. I'm thinking of things like arranging pre-approved mortgages and remembering to take your car in for emissions testing so you can renew your licence plates - the sheer dizzying amount of knowledge

Grown Women Do NOT Fall Apart at the Sight of a Teddy Bear!!!
UGH!!! The next time I see another one of those ridiculous Vermont Teddy Bear ads that they're running for Valentine's day, I'm gonna vomit!!You know the ones; a woman receives her 'gift' in front of her co workers and opens it, and then these waaayy over the top 'oooooohs', 'aaaaahhhhs' and 'OOOOHHHHHS' ensue. The women totally LOSE it, and go on and ON about how damn cute the bear is and WHAT A GUY this man must be that gave it to her. PUH-LEEZE!!! You'd think she'd just opened up a box with a 5 carat diamond in it, the reaction is so over the top! The entire office loses its damn mind, and guys from surrounding cubicles then rush to a phone to dial up and get a bear for THEIR woman so they can get that same reaction when they get home. Yeah, sure...um hmmmm.Another one shows all types

      We Have Not Grown Up
It was not really insane to play volleyball on the third day of Chinese New Year. It was time that matter the most.Did it worth spending more than six hours outside? Did I really have the time to spare?I’m actually quite sick of all the injuries. I’m lagging behind time. I’m not getting any better. I feel odd to see weird expressions like as if I owe money.I feel ridiculous to see people joke with people who they dislike. Sometimes I just do not know what is going on. Can a group of friends with hidden disputes progress or even last?Perhaps, everyone has not grown up but time has already started to tear us down. Skai Chan @

      Fungus grown muffin before expired
DH bought 2 chocolate muffins from K**g’s Confectioneries on 18 Dec. These muffins are with expiry dates 26 Dec 2007 printed on the packaging. On 19 Dec morning, I opened one for Ian. Luckily I took a closer look before Ian started eating - there were 4 light white dots. Fungus started growing on it. Another one was okay, which I let Ian ate (hmm… come to think of it, maybe I shouldn’t have!). The next day was a public holiday, DH took the ‘infected’ muffin to the K**g’s outlet for exchange. Guess what? It took DH a d*mn long time to get it exchanged. They questioned him like the muffin was stolen like that. They wanted to take down his name and phone numbers, instead of offering the exchange straight away. We weren’t asking for a refund, we just wanted an apple-to-apple exchange! Finally, after long arguements, they let DH take another muffin. This one, expiry dated 24 Dec 2007. The next morning, i.e. 21 Dec 2007, I took it out for I

How Much Has China Grown? Really…
Anyone who has lived in China at any point in the last 10 years will attest to the growth of China’s east coast cities. For many who watched China’s rise, one of the most amazing measures was GDP growth, and the fact that China has been able to sustain double digit growth for so many years. but has it? Or is China smaller than we have been lead to believe by various sources? Well, if Albert Kiedel of Carnegie’s Endowment for International Peace has read an AD report right, China may actually be 40% smaller than previously thought. In a little-noticed mid-summer announcement, the Asian Development Bank presented official survey results indicating China’s economy is smaller and poorer than established estimates say. The announcement cited the first authoritative measure of China’s size using purchasing power parity methods. The results tell us that when the World Bank announces its expected PPP data revisions later this year, China’s economy will turn out to be
