Yesterday the greenback weakened sharply all across the board on the back of the release of the FOMC Meeting Minutes. The greenback slipped to new all time low against the EUR touching the 1.4852 mark, as the minutes gave another strong indication to the market that the Fed will once again cut rates in order to prevent the U.S economy from slipping into recession. The Fed indicated that it expects U.S growth to slow to between 1.8 and 2.5 percent, which is much lower than previous forecasts. Therefore the Fed is now expected to cut rates by at least 0.25%, in order to stimulate growth by attempting to alleviate the housing and credit crisis. However the dollar selling began well before the FOMC Minutes with the release of weaker than expected Building Permits figure. This figure was forecasted to come in at 1.20M but it released at 1.18M, showing a sharp drop from last month’s figure of 1.26M. This downside surprise increased the pressure on the greenback as it indicated that

We are big believers and followers of organic farming and gardening. But alongside that we also enjoy a cup of really GOOD coffee. This ends up in a pretty large pile of used coffee grounds from our plungers by the end of the week. We personally like plunger coffee better than the drip filter stuff. The eco-nature of the our lifestyle negates the use of electric percolators etc and the plunger lets us each control how strong we want the blend! This also leaves a really course ground coffee which we need to dispose of on the island.So what to do with the used grounds? Well we collect them all in a special bucket and transfer them up to our organic farm and garden. Luckily with the volume of farming and gardening done by Jeanie and Josefa, these grounds never go to waste!Here are some tips for making great use of those otherwise wasted resources. Byron Bay:It’s 30 AUD for up to 2 people at the Broken Beach Camping Ground. Every additional person is 15 more dollars. Facilities are clean and it’s directly at the beach. You get 2 hours of free wireless internet a day with your own laptop. Surfers Paradise:The Main Beach Holiday Park is close to the beach. They can’t seem to figure out how much to charge though. The first night we paid 43 AUD, the second 46 AUD. The staff was quite unhelpful, but at least everything was clean, plus you get the same internet deal as in Byron Bay.
