Groundhog Day, Starring My Final Fantasy Party
The Moon Palace’s Basement is such a sprawling place, and filled with such an amazing collection of bosses and enemies. Detailing each one of the boss fights would get fairly repetitive, but as we... This full article can be read at

Groundhog Day in Parliament: Westminster Watch: w/b 19th May 2008
[Continued from last week] The story so far ... gorgeous, pouting Gordon Brown has made concessions on the 10p tax rate, but the fear remains amongst his *ahem* loyal band of supporters in the PLP that it is not going to be enough to save grizzled streetfighter Tamsin Dunwoody in the Crewe and Nantwitch by-election. At Castle Dracula (or CCHQ as it's sometimes known) rumours are being pumped into

      Groundhog Day
Remember the movie "Groundhog Day"? Bill Murray keeps waking up and it is the same day over and over? This has become what reading McDonalds' (MCD) monthly sales figure has become. For February: * Same-store sales in the U.S. rose 8.3% during the month, led by breakfast and coffee offerings. * European same-store sales grew by an impressive 15.4% on strong results in the U.K., France, Germany and Russia. * Asia Pacific region, Middle East and Africa rose 10.9% for the month, mostly on... Groundhog Day and Family Business
As you are probably well aware, on Saturday the 2nd, Punxsutawney Phil, the most famous groundhog of all time, emerged from his burrow at Gobbler’s Knob around 7:25 am and saw his shadow.   This means there will be six more weeks of winter.  The gate to Gobbler’s Knob, in case you’re interested, opened at 3 am [...]

Groundhog day: 6 more weeks of winter according to Punxsutawney Phill
Evidently Punxsutawney Pa needed a point of differentiation. As a marketing idea, it's brilliant - it's unique, it involves legend and myth, and - the clincher: a cute critter is the protagonist!   For those of you who think Groundhog Day is just a Bill Murray movie, I refer you to an obscurely named Pennsylvanian town where they have been celebrating the remarkably accurate forecasting abilities of a marmot-like rodent (well, that's what he looks like to me) called Punxsutawney Phil since 1886. According to the lore, if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow there will be six more weeks of winter weather. If he does not see his shadow, there will be an early spring.   This year, Phil confirmed our suspicions and forecast another six weeks of winter. Of course, for those of us in Seattle t

      Chandeleur versus Groundhog day ?
Note: French version of this post is here on La cuisine de Babeth.London is calling! I'm going to London with all my family for my mother's birthday, so I need to discuss right now important food related events that will occur over the week-end. In France this week-end we are celebrating La chandeleur , basically in every French household crêpes (thin French-like pancakes) will be flying of the pans! And in the US , ok it's Super Bowl but also I'm pretty sure all Americans anxiously waiting for report from Punxsutawney on ground hog Day. More precisely from Phil, the groundhog. Punxsutawney Phil is the only true weather forecasting groundhog. The others are just impostors. There has only been one Punxsutawney Phil. He has been making predictions for over 120 years! On February 2, Phil co

Groundhog Day Movie Review - Starring Bill Murray And Andie McDowell
By David Terr "Groundhog Day" is a very entertaining and unusual movie, starring Bill Murray and Andie McDowell. The story, which involves experiencing the same day repeatedly, is quite intriguing and the acting is very good, especially that of Bill Murray.Phil Connors (Murray) is a rather bitter news reporter who's assigned to report on whether or not the groundhog in Punxtawney, Pennsylvania sees his shadow, indicating whether or not there will be six more weeks of winter. He wakes up in his hotel room at 6AM to the tune of Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe" on his alarm clock radio. He has a rather unpleasant day, encountering a pushy insurance salesman on the street and accidentally stepping into a puddle. A blizzard hits the town, whence he and the crew are forced to stay another night. The next morning, Phil is quite surprised to learn that it's groundhog day again! He repeats the same day with all the same experiences. This occurs again day after day.Eventually Phil learns that

F1: Perfect day for Alonso, groundhog day for Toyota
Ahead of today’s second free practice session the air temperature is 29 degrees C, while the track temperature is 48 degrees. It’s cloudy, but the sun is clearly up there somewhere. Robert Kubica will be keen to get to work this afternoon, the Pole having only completed two laps in the first session due to a fuel leak which subsequently caused his F1.07 to catch fire back in the BMW garage. The lights go green, and first out is Schumacher, followed by Albers, Kubica and Sato. Liuzzi, speed more…

GroundHog Day . . . Did ya Miss it?
Inspired by a groundhog day post by AllRileyedUp, I’m writing a few days that I would have liked to do over.  If it gets you thinking, I’d encourage you to do the same here in my comments or on your own blog, I think it’s a great idea.  Unfortunately, I didn’t read it until today!  Okay, here goes: Days I would like to have the opportunity to do over . . .  1) My teacher evaluation last year.  I was very affected about it because I had a new Principal.  This eval year I got luminous marks and it’s probably partly because I wasn’t nervous about the thing.  I have learned to look at reviews as a chance to learn how to become better. 2) My wedding day.  I wouldn’t have done it in Vegas, but given my wife a stylish and elegant wedding like my siblings have all had. 3) When Dave Sharp hinted at me coming back to the UK with him to play some shows, maybe a tour supporting him . . . I would have said “let’s do it!” But wha

      Happy Groundhog Day (yesterday)
Secret Circus went quite well last night, despite really unfriendly weather. It was windy and blowing enough snow that if you were near buildings or awnings — which had collected a lot of snow over the course of the last, say,two months — you could swear it was snowing again. And I did. I did swear. Anyhow, here’s our Groundhog Day video!

Daily Monologue-Style Joke of the Day: Groundhog Day Special Addition
It looks like an early spring this year as NYC's local groundhog, Staten Island Chuck, also known by his middle name, "Sal," was apparently unable to smell the stench of the Fresh Kills Landfill this morning, staying out of his winter hole instead of quickly retreating back in as he usually does this day every year, in the annual ceremony at the Staten Island Zoo.

Groundhog Day Arrives, Media Makes Fun Of Silly Event, Then Covers It Relentlessly
The groundhog didn't see his shadow today. You know, in case the frumpy woman in the cubicle next to you didn't tell you yet. Oh, and good to see that Phil is "bucking a trend." You'd hate to see him fall in line with all those poseur meteorological rodents. If I'm not mistaken, you can't buck a trend if you are the only creature in the universe that crafts said trend.Oh, and one final thought:

Back in Philville: Punxsutawney Groundhog Festival 2006
Since 2002, I've been doing caricatures every summer (along with my wife) at the Punxsutawney Groundhog Festival. Most people are unaware of the week-long festival, but it's the second biggest annual event the town has -- the first, of course, being Groundhog Day itself! It's a nice change of pace from being cooped up in an office or studio all day, and we get free entertainment to boot. (Not to mention we make some money -- that's always a plus!)I'll be there again this year and along with doing caricatures, I'll be peddling original artwork as well as some Disney comics. If you're free sometime during the first week of July, are close by and, well, have nothing better to do -- stop on over!
