Save Time, Gas, and Money By Training Your Grocery Store
For those of us lucky enough to have multiple grocery stores around, we usually end up with a favorite store. The frustrating part is that your favorite store doesn’t carry the exact item that you can get at other stores. I used to make quick trips to the other store for the one [...]

We Are Getting an Aldi’s Grocery Store…and I Got Excited
Two years, maybe longer than that now, all the Winn Dixies in our area were closed down. I really didn’t like shopping there for groceries, but they had great meat. The old Winn Dixie store has been deserted and rumors were circulating that a department store was taking it over or Gold’s Gym [...]

Yummy Vegan Wedding Food, Another 5 Things About Me, and A Grocery Store/CSA Wrap Up
First off I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone who wished me well during my 'tooth ordeal', it means a lot! I'm happy to report that I'm back in action! We, as always, added pickled ginger directly to the ro

Harvesting seeds from the grocery store
There is more than one way to harvest seeds sure can grow your own but there is also another option. Use seeds someone else grew by buying them at a grocery store or farmers market. Have you ever have bought potatoes, sweet potatoes or yams and noticed sprouts coming out of them, dig a hole and plant them in the ground and in a few weeks you may have your own potato plant. Not a fan of those, why not try garlic, ginger, onions, peanuts, avocados, dried beans, apples, tomatoes, peppers, or anything else you can imagine. This year I am going to attempt potatoes and garlic, how about yourself?

Top Ways to Find Good Grocery Store Printable Coupons
By: James Kara Murat Shopping with grocery store coupons is not a haphazard sort of activity for those that use coupons on a regular basis. These people know that a great savings is there for the taking, especially if it is done correctly. Organization is the first rule followed by shopping for only what you will use. Asking for better deals is also important. After all, you’ll never get what you want unless you ask. The internet is but a single tool in this money saving endeavor, but an important one nonetheless. Finding printable couponsFinding printable coupons is not rocket science. On the internet just type in coupons and a host of options will appear. Also try the paper, in store flyers, hang tags, take consumer surveys (online and off) or buy a woman’s consumer magazine. If you plan on getting into coupons in a big way you may be interested in printable coupons. These printable coupons are no different than regular coupons. They do, however, give you added options to work wi

Grocery Store Coming to Harvard Square
Whenever my issue of Boston Magazine comes, I read it right away and then earmark pages that I want to blog about later. It's been a busy couple of weeks, so I just recently pulled out my issue from underneath a stack of unread mail and flipped through it. I will admit that I haven't been to Harvard Square in a long long time. The square does have a few great places though. The Greenhouse Cafe (huge sandwiches), Border Cafe (decent mexican food), and Burdick (best hot chocolate ever). But I just haven't been there in a while. The most interesting part about the Boston Magazine article is that it points out that Harvard owns 30 of the storefronts in Harvard Square and plays landlord. But with the grocery store that's coming, they've actually handpicked their neighbor. Harvard rented the space left vacant when Sage's Market closed and let it sit there vacant since 2000 until they were able to find someone willing to open another grocery store in the area. Eating 7 years of r

Kate Hudson and Dax Shepard Make Out In Grocery Store
Look, we love Kate Hudson as much as the next blog…but are you kids starting to see a very co-dependant pattern here, or is it just us? Kate has spent very little time alone since her divorce, jumping from one hunky guy to the next. But who are we to judge? Dax Shepard is mucho grande cuter than the Butterscotch Stallion (aka Owen Wilson) and they seem to have a good groove going…even in the grocery store with people taking pictures. So..more power to ‘em we say.

Your Local Grocery Store Doesn’t Care About SEO
A lot of major companies tend to ignore the benefits of search engine optimization. If people want to find them they will search for the name of the company and there they will appear so the web development team thinks: Our job is done. It makes it very easy when the domain name is the name of the company, which is always the case. But what about the rest of the traffic, the people who don’t think immediately of the company name when they are looking for what that company is specifically in a position to provide. Let’s take Mr. Doug Framundi, owner of the Framundis grocery store chain (I am making this up), who purchased the domain name: framundis.com. The title tag for the site is Framundis, the site is entirely dynamic and there are no meta tags to speak of. When you search “framundis” his site ranks number one in the search engine rankings. But what about the people who search for “grocery coupons” or “grocery lists” or “grocery

Cleveland Retail Economic News: My Grocery Store Rant - What are They Thinking?
I'm not my usual positive self; been sitting on this issue for two days and finally have to blog about it. The PD will tell you more but....... Giant Eagle is planning on a store on W. 117th at the new Target location. On face value, everyone might say great! Here's some food for thought:1. Lorain at Rocky River Drive: Rego's Market replete with Corbo's bakery2. Lakewood Heights Blvd at Lewis: Rego's Market at first Rego's location ever3. Lorain Road at W. 139th: Giant Eagle Super Market4. Lorain Road at W. 104th: Giant Eagle Super Market5. Montrose at Warren Road: Giant Eagle Super MarketAll five stores reside in areas heavily populated with homes. All are within I bet, two miles of each other. Yes, there are some residential streets close to the new Target on W. 117th but wouldn't different types of retail be better there? If I am going to Target, I'm NOT going to the grocery store! Yes, I know, private ownership and all. But really guys! Put a retail operation there that wil

Grocery Store Bread: Now With Metal Chunks!
At least 27 different SUPERMARKET BRANDS made by Sara Lee could be effected and have been recalled. From the ‘Why We Like To Make Our Own Food” Dept: According to Reuters and other news sources a Sara Lee factory in Meridian, Mississippi has been spewing out loaves of bread potentially laced with chunks of metal. The company recalled the bread after they realized a flour sifter was damaged and possibly some metal had made its way into the bread. I take that to mean there were chunks of metal missing they couldn’t find. Not on the floor, not in the sifter(?) . . . D’oh! I guess its in the bread . . . Even if you don’t think you’re a Sara Lee customer it may be important to understand and keep up with the recall. This is because Sara Lee made this bread for both regional and national groceries. The recall includes supermarket brands sold by Publix, Foodland, IGA, Wal-Mart and Piggly Wiggly among others. Plus as you may know with the recent dog food r

10 Things Your Grocery Store Doesn't Want You to Know
You may not think twice about heading to the supermarket for your weekly grocery-shopping trip, but that doesn’t mean no one else has. Market researchers go to great lengths to make sure you buy more food, and of the most expensive varieties, every time you enter the store.Simply being aware of supermarket secrets can help you to make healthier choices and get more for your money. Case in point:“Use-by” dates are suggestions: Often, food is still good beyond the “best if used by” date.  Kid foods are placed at their level: Ever wonder how your 3-year-old got that package of cookies into the cart? They’re placed on low shelves for that specific reason.Convenience will cost you: Meat, fruit and veggies that comes already cut and ready-to-use are convenient, but they can cost you up to twice as much as the uncut versions.Beware of end-aisle displays: Food companies pay to have their products placed there, because consumers are 30 percent more likely to buy items that are

Church Vs. Grocery Store and Alcohol
ATHENS, Georgia — A Church of Christ congregation is fighting a neighboring grocery store's plans to sell alcohol, and a Methodist minister supported the congregation by telling city leaders there is "a higher law." On Monday, members of Northside Church of Christ told the Athens City Council that allowing L&S Grocery to sell alcohol would "be a threat to the safety and peace of mind" of

      Lost...In a Grocery Store
It would take the genius of every Nobel winner from 1954 till present, to come to reason the layout of grocery stores. Is there a design intention to the incomprehensibility that is the modern grocery store? Or are we to stray helplessly from isle to isle in hopes that we stumble across the right item, with an expiry date far enough in advance that our eventually-to-be-purchased item doesn't go bad before we find our way out of the labyrinth? To the layman, there appears to be no rational to the unintelligible layout, the counterintuitive locations of tomato sauce, tomato paste, and crushed tomatoes, but I'm guessing that somewhere, hidden in some groceteria manual, is an explanation as to why it takes me an hour to find toothpaste, grape leaves, and toilet paper. In fact, there is. Though the reason is frustrating to anyone with a comprehensive shopping list, or a limited amount of time to get your sundries, navigate your way back home through traffic, and cook before company arriv

      Grocery store secret police
I promised I'd tell you about this. Grocery stores and other medium to large stores will usually have an armed guard or two at the entrance, but what I didn't know at first was that some of them also have 'secret police' inside dressed like customers.Their job is to watch out for shoplifters or people who might eat something in the store or drink a coke and then leave the can and not pay for it. Well, they aren't really secret police. They are more like undercover guards, but I think of them as secret police. They just sort of hang around the store trying to watch people without looking too suspicious. It just so happened that El Jefe knew a couple of people who had these jobs − that's how I found out about it. Once I noticed a man who seemed to be at the end of every aisle I went down. He didn't have a cart or a basket, and he was beginning to make me nervous. When El Jefe came to pick me up, I mentioned it and pointed the man out. El Jefe said, "Oh, he's the secret guar
