I haven't tried it yet, but grilled octopus sounds too interesting to leave unmentioned! I have had octopus prepared many ways in the past, but this salad sounds like it would be a lot of fun to serve at a backyard luncheon. It would be a great conversation topic anyway! Check it out and give it a shot!

A Philly radio station reported earlier today that a weapon used in the incident may have belonged to Harrison.

I think that by now, everyone knows how much I love mangoes. When I read the ingredients for this month's Royal Foodie Joust, put on by the Leftover Queen, I about squealed with delight. They were right up my alley: mangoes, cardamom, and brown sugar! With spring coming on, and our days getting warmer by the minute, I couldn't resist grilling up some mango with my room mate's new grill. :)I love the way this recipe turned out. It's quick, easy, and incredibly tasty. SO happy I thought to grill them! The slightly-burned sugar gives the mango a really nice caramelized flavour, which compliments the cardamom beautifully. Enjoy!Cardamom-Glazed Grilled Mango2 ripe mangoes, skin on, cubed4 Tb. brown sugar3 green cardamom pods, shelled and ground2 Tb. dessicated coconut1/4 tsp. cinnamonabout 6 ske

Anthelme Brillat-Savarin A Vegetarian challenge...Wonder how many of you have heard of the BBC daytime show 'Ready Steady Cook'? I used to watch it often while visiting the UK years ago. One of Michael's favorite meals is a simple Asian-inspired stir-fry. We usually make this meal fast and frugally using a frozen package of "stir-fry" vegetables, leftover meat from a previous meal, and quick brown rice. We rely on this meal at least twice a month, and for me, it satisfies a craving for foods I used to order at Chinese restaurants in my old gluten filled days. For a new twist on this old favorite of ours, I decided to make a teriyaki marinade for the chicken, which I would later grill instead of adding to the stir-fried vegetables.Grilling the chicken, instead of adding it to the stir-fry, really brought out the flavors of the teriyaki marinade. It also gave the dish a delicious new presentation!I think this marinade would also be excellent on salmon steaks, tofu, or beef!

What did the shy boy-oyster say when the girl-oyster kissed him? "Awww... shucks!"Can you tell what this afternoons yummy recipe is for? Oysters! In this land of snow and corn we were lucky enough to have the sun shining bright today and what a difference it made! I had a fresh delicious mango for lunch and my thoughts turned to seafood. Catfish, salmon, shirmp, Gulf oysters, lobster... I love it all!Eating raw oysters for a healthy person poses little to no problems at all, but a heads up warning that I found from a website called beoysteraware.com: do not eat raw oysters if you have; • Liver Disease (from hepatitis, cirrhosis, alcoholism, or cancer) • Iron overload disease (hemochromatosis) • Diabetes • C
This is a pretty quick and easy way to spice up some salmon.Just get one salmon steak (per person), brush over with olive oil, and then sprinkle with about half a teaspoon of dried ground ginger.Grill for about 5 minutes on each side under a medium-high grill, or until done how you like it.
Once you read the recipe through, hopefully you'll smile at the photo above the way I do. That dark clump on top of the salmon? Yah, thats the sauce. I was a little absentminded and left it on too long. It still tasted great, but it wasn't the most photogenic of sauces. Serves me right, for all those times I muttered at too-runny sauces as they ran all over the plate. Can't win.Dark, clumpy sauce aside, I was really happy with this meal. The marinade/sauce smells amazing and wasn't any trouble to prepare. Please note that the salmon has to soak in the marinade for a few hours... so plan accordingly. I didn't, the first night I wanted to make this, so we had it the next day instead. And even then, I had to run home at lunch to throw it all together. (There's that absentmindedness again!) Ra

I don't really want Mitt Romney to be president. But to be grilled on what his religion believes is an irrelevant issue. Romney's losing votes and being put on the defensive simply because he doesn't pass some ridiculous Christian litmus test that says the President of the United States has to believe in certain things that some of us consider rather elaborate superstitions.Honestly, how much longer are we going to let organized religion limit our ways of thinking and hold us back in progressing forward as a nation? Religion is based on arrogance, which says, "We know what really happened thousands of years ago and what will happen after we die more than you do. But if you need me to reason and think about anything happening here and now, then...ummmm...I'll pray."Can't we all just get along and say Christianity and Mormonism and all other religions are equally ridiculous and get on with more important things? Here is something that perfectly expresses what I feel:We must start a R

I did this during a gathering at my place and my friend, Rebecca, liked it. I tried it again, wanting to pair it with vegetable. The asparagus was good but I didn't quite like it with tomato but my hubby said it okay for him. Perhaps if I used cherry tomatoes in a bunch, it might be better. As I find it too wet using cut tomato.I did it using orange rind and orange juice too and it was good too but personally I preferred the lemon version. I did a fish dish using orange rind and juice and it tasted better for that dish and my daughter finished one half of the fish. When we were at Young, the oriental market on Mc. Phillips, to buy some stuffs for our house warming party, I saw pineapple cut squids in plastic bags in their freezers. Grabbed two bags of them, and thought I would make a cumi teutumeh, since I have asam sunti and frozen bilimbi (Indonesian belimbing sayur/wuluh) as well. Right after I put the frozen pineapple cut squids in the fridge to thaw, I changed my mind.Being inspired by the original recipe of Ikan Panggang Pacak which uses fish that my family used to make at home, I made Cumi Panggang Pacak literally translated as the Northern Sumatran Bbq Squids.Ingredients:800 g frozen pineapple cut squids, thawed1 lime1 lemongrass, cut into a half and bruise10 tbsp unsweetened desiccated coconut, you can add more (original recipe uses grated coconut of 1 coconut)30 gr coconut cream powder150 ml waterGrind into a paste8 shallots3 cloves garlic3 toasted candlenutscombination fresh red chilies and bird eye's chilies as many as you want (In t

When we have our wine party every year, I try to do a variety of food for the party. Sometimes, I make whatever I want, but I’m trying to get better at following the theme of the wines. I select the wine theme in advance so guests can get wines that fit. We’ve done American wines that aren’t from California, southern hemisphere wines that aren’t from Australia, and anything goes.
This year’s theme was French wines, if you haven’t read anything else I’ve written about the party. Each couple was asked to bring two French wines, one red and one white. They were also asked to look up something about the wine to share, whether it’s about the vineyard, the grape, that particular wine, the appellation, whatever. (Appellations are distinct areas were grapes for wines are grown). It wasn’t anything too difficult, and Vince helped some by looking up their wines on his iPhone connected to our household wireless!

I picked up two big, thick wild boar chops from my butcher on a whim a few weeks ago. No plan for them, but I knew I could have a plan... some day... and I really liked the idea of being able to whip up a wild boar chop dinner on the fly. 'Cause like... who does that? :)Well, we had the perfect occasion tonight. You see, today is our Second First Wedding Anniversary. If you recall, we had our First First Anniversary in Las Vegas in August... and today, a year ago, we had our second wedding in our church with our closest friends and family in attendance. Now, we'd never had wild boar before. We like pork well enough, so I thought this wouldn't be too much of a stretch. I had no idea I would like these wild boar chops SO MUCH, though. The flavor of the meat is nice and delicate and not wild-animal-ish at all. The lemon/rosemary/garlic marinade didn't overwhelm it at all.I served the chops with some buttered and rosemary red potatoes and green beans, both fresh from the morning's f

2-1 pound duck breasts MarinadeIngredients :1/3 cup pineapple juice2 Tbsp. honey1/4 cup soy sauceJuice of 2 limesCombine marinade ingredients together in a large plastic bag that you can seal. Place duck breasts in the marinade and refrigerate for several hours. While the duck is marinating you can assemble salsa ingredients. Pineapple SalsaIngredients :1 large ripe fresh pineapple1 fresh jalapeno pepper, seeded and choppedJuice of 1 lime1 tsp. lime zest1 tsp. rice vinegar2 tsp. dark brown sugar1 Tbsp. fresh cilantro, choppedCombine all ingredients and set aside for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to blend. When duck has finished marinating, grill over medium-hot coals for 8 - 10 minutes per side. You may also substitute chicken breast for the duck breast.Tips : Use low sodium soy sauce
'The gentle art of gastronomy is a friendly one. It hurdles the language barrier, makes friends among civilized people, and warms the heart.' Samuel Chamberlain GRILLED LAMB CHOPSThis is a nice, feel-good, sort of dish (doubles up as finger-food too), which we like at home for a change from curries etc. The ingredients can be increased or decreased to suit personal tastes…we love the tanginess of the meat off the bone. I grill these sometimes, and at other times pan cook them. These can be served with mashed potatoes/oven baked fries, grilled veggies, a dip/chutney, green salad, dinner rolls or naan bread. After welcoming her back to New York City ("I love New York – I was born here," Hilton
My story is about grilled cheese.I like to eat grilled cheese for a snack. I also like to eat hot meals and easy grilled chicken. Here's how I would make it...I think you need two slices of bread. Then put it into a toaster oven. I put it in the microwave to melt the cheese after that.I'm not sure if thats the right way to make grilled cheese. I could find out the real way by searching the internet.House Of Deron | Super Money Kid | My Google Pages | Super Money Kids| Game Code Island
Last night when Rob grilled pork chops, I asked him to throw on three ears of corn so that I could make this salad today. It is, as Martha would say, “a good thing.” We ate it tonight as a side salad, but it would also be good as a dip with baked corn chips. I think it would also be great with some avocado in it.

Anybody that's been cooking for a long time probably feels the same way I do about using recipes. They are a guide, a starting point and a way of jogging your memory about dishes you've had in the past and combinations that you want to try in the future. I was rustling up some grub for dinner and I saw a recipe in Bon Appétit for grilled chicken and bread salad. And it was from Farm, where H and I dined happily during our visit to Napa. And who doesn't need another grilled chicken recipe? AND I'm always interested in bread salad or panzanella. So I looked at this recipe and instantly changed it...before I even got to the second paragraph. I'm sure it's an ok recipe, but, for some reason, I didn't want capers in my bread salad; sherry vinegar just didn't appeal to me at that moment; AND I really didn't like the way they handled the bread. So here is my Grilled Chicken and Panzanella, based on an amalgam of recipes from past and present, plus my own mistakes and discoveries in t

by Mark HesterThere's nothing in the world quite like a juicy, perfectly grilled steak from a high-end steak house. But can I recreate that unbeatable taste in my backyard?Yes, you can! You can easily grill that perfectly grilled steak -- if you follow a few simple guidelines:First everything starts in the grocery with your choice of the steak. The choice of meat is all important. Lean cuts do not grill well. You need to choose a piece that has good fat marbling throughout. Excellent cuts to pick are the T-Bone, Ribeye and Sirloin. Many people like the Fillet Mignon. But I think it tastes bland. There is a reason you always see it with a piece of bacon wrapped around it. My choice will always be one of the cutsabove.Next, preheat your gas grill or light your charcoal and create a two zone fire. To create a two zone fire with a charcoal grill, arrange the brickets so that the majority are at one end of the grill producing a hot zone of about 400 degrees F and a warm zone of about 225-300
