U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Edward Schafer visited students and toured the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences June 28 - in addition to a stop at the Taste of Chicago.
Although he had been invited to speak at graduation earlier in June, he was unable to attend but promised to visit during his next trip to Chicago.

The former Mount Greenwood Branch of the Chicago Public Library wasn't the sexiest of buildings, but the photo of it does give us a look into the neighborhood's history.
‘There Will Be Blood’, Paul Thomas Anderson's film adaptation of Upton Sinclair's 1927 novel ‘Oil! Tipped’, is not expected to be a barrel of laughs. Just a couple weeks ago neighbors throughout Mount Greenwood celebrated the 100th anniversary of its incorporation.
Throughout the week leading up to the weekend bash, held Sept. 8 and 9 at Mount Greenwood Park, neighbors talked about how close-knit the community is and offered their own suggestions as to why it has remained a vibrant, family-oriented neighborhood for a century.

The Max Condominium (website) public grand opening was this past weekend at 8520 Evanston Ave N, just north of the Evanston. A condo conversion, the property was built in 1999 as the Maxville Apartments and designed by Weber + Thompson.
The 4-level Max features 30 homes with retail on the ground floor.
11 - one bedrooms that range in size from 617 to 645 square feet and are priced between $259,990 and $299,990.

There has been an increase in the number of arrests over the past year in Beat 2211, especially in the categories of theft and criminal damage.
Criminal damage arrests saw the largest increase, rising to 29 from 15 in the months of May and June since last year at this time. The number of theft arrests increased from 18 to 24 over the same time period.

The Max Condominium (website) is the newest condo project in the Greenwood area, located on Evanston off of 85th (map). It’ll be a conversion of the apartment building just north of the Evanston Condominium.
