Back in October 2007, I had blogged about Dove’s ‘Onslaught’ commercial. While I apprehensive about the true intentions behind the commercial, I did appreciate the fact that the ad had the potential to get parents talking to their teenage daughters. Unfortunately, Greenpeace has claimed that Unilever, Dove’s parent company, is the biggest buyer of palm oil in the world, and thus is indirectly responsible for the fast depleting forest cover in Indonesia. And how is that possible, you might ask ? Well, watch this video to find out. Visit the official site of Greenpeace to sign an open letter to make Unilever stop the destruction of Indonesia’s beautiful forests. © 2008 JazJaz.net. Greenpeace is planning to spoil iPhone’s launch in Europe.
Greenpeace and other “Green” activists group are trying to force change in the environmental policy on Apple’s product. They want Apple products to be free of the toxic chemicals, such as brominated flame retardants, that can be found in its American counterparts. Zeina Alhajj campaign coordinator for Greenpeace says: “The iPhone is a unique product and for us it is a missed opportunity for Apple to combine the innovation of the product with a green performance.” Last month, Greenpeace accused Apple of failing to make “early progress” with the iPhone toward the company’s stated goals for eco friendliness. Apple responded by reiterating its intent to make all of it’s products free of hazardous materials by the end of 2008, and stressed all components used in the phone comply with the European Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive. In the lead-up to the international Bali Climate summit, Greenpeace has launched a major direct action in Sumatra, Indonesia, to stop the nefarious PT Duta Palma corporation from destroying a pristine tropical forest (and the habitat for highly endangered Sumatran rhinos, tigers, and oh-so-cute orangutans) and replacing it with a palm oil plantation.Torching tropical forests is bad enough, but this one lies atop a peat bog and the Duta Palma's henchmen are trying to drain it and burn it to grow the palms -- releasing thousands of tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere in the process. Indeed, destruction of peat bogs in Indonesia alone accounts for more than 8 percent of total global greenhouse-gas emissions from fossil fuels.Greenpeace is calling for the Indonesian government to ban clearing of peatland and tropical forest destruction in general. GreenPeace as attention whore
While green peace has done good things in the past, to fabricate information about anything is contrary to what we think is right. There are a lot of people in business and government each day that feel that they need to fabricate information, the sad side effect of this is that while they grab headlines, the end result is that the organization or group is tarnished because they were unable to tell the truth. We are used to media spin, and we are used to calling companies to the mat for things that they do wrong, we have no problem pinging on Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Apple, and the rest of the lot that makes up our current technology base. Nor do we have a whole lot of problems pinging on each other when there is obvious Public Relations mischief happening. But when Green Peace decides that it wants to be an attention whore and falsify information about the Apple Iphone, well that is below respectability. This will not hurt the Iphone, nor will this hurt Apple, this will make green

30 Years of Greenpeace in Australia

Spencer Tunick and Greenpeace Gets Naked People On Glacier For Global Warming
In order to raise awareness for global warming, Greenpeace and the photographer Spencer Tunick got hundreds of naked people to pose for photos on a melting glacier. Spencer Tunick was on a ladder with a mega phone as he directed the massive crowd of nearly 600 people from all over Europe who were concerned for the environment. Spencer Tunick then photographed them on a rocky outcrop overlooking the glacier, which is the largest in the Alps. The volunteers also had to pose for photographs by Spencer Tunick on the ice as he took photos of them lying down. Do you think the pictures by Spencer Tunick will help raised awareness for global warming? Are these tactics by Spencer Tunick and Greenpeace the best way to stop climate change? Palm oil firms burning Indonesia forests: Greenpeace
Palm oil companies are burning peat forests to clear land for plantations in Indonesia's Riau province, despite government pledges to end forest fires, environment group Greenpeace said on Thursday. Forest fires are an annual menace for Indonesia and the country's neighbors, who have grown deeply frustrated at the apparent lack of success in curbing the dry-season blazes and vast smoke clouds, or haze, that smothers the region.

Solar energy is clearly a free form of energy, free in the sense that you don’t have to pay for it, but you need the right tools to grab it. "The tools" we speak of are solar panels, which, as any technology, are getting cheaper and cheaper every day, becoming more affordable, turning into a viable alternative to get electricity. One building in Manchester UK, the CIS Solar Tower, uses this power to produce a large part of the energy it requires to function. Greenpeace can't show GE sites on Google Map.
A French court has ordered Greenpeace France to take down a web page with a Google Map that shows locations of commercial, genetically engineered corn fields in France. Greenpeace argues the online maps should not be censored because an EU law requires the French government to make the crop site information public anyway. Greenpeace responded by carving a giant 'X' crop circle into one of the genetically engineered corn fields the courts say can no longer be Google-mapped. Greenpeace France will likely appeal the censorship order, and Greenpeace International is now hosting the offending map from servers in Amsterdam...

Leading Greenspirit, not failing with Greenpeace
Patrick Moore of Greenspirit believes - Fifteen years of Greenpeace campaigns later I had some new insights. It was time to switch from confrontation to consensus, time to stop fighting and start talking with the people in charge. I became a convert to the idea of sustainable development and the need to consider social and economic issues along with my environmental values. I adopted the round table, consensus approach as the logical next step in the evolution of the movement for sustainability.   Little did I realize at the time how this would bring me into open and direct conflict with the movement I had helped bring into the world. I now find that many environmental groups have drifted into self-serving cliques with narrow vision and rigid ideology. At the same time that business and government are embracing public participation and inclusiveness, many environmentalists are showing signs of elitism, left-wingism, and downright eco-fascism. The once politically centris
