Green Line is the low-emission version of the new Superb manufactured for the international market. But till now there is no news of the low-emission version of the Superb to make its debut in India. Though not in India, GreenLine Superb is a great saloon and a unique concept with a 105bhp, 1.9L TDI PD engine. Amazingly, the fuel efficiency of the car is said to be nearly about 23kmpl. First Drive: 2007 Saturn Aura Green LineI tested Saturn's Aura midsize sedan last year and had a chance to get in its new hybrid version last week. The Aura Green Line shares its hybrid drivetrain with Saturn’s Vue Green Line SUV and gets an EPA-estimated 28/35 mpg (city/highway). That's the same rating as the Honda Accord Hybrid but less than the Toyota Camry Hybrid's 40/38 mpg. If the Aura isn
Saturn Vue Green Line HybridThe Saturn Vue Green Line Hybrid promises the power of a V6 engine while getting an impressive 30 miles to the gallon. In the city where speed limits are lower, drivers will be able to switch the vehicles engines to electric power to conserve fuel. On highways, the engine uses gasoline at a reduced rate of consumption. Drivers are going to love that they can have a fuel-efficient SUV with plenty of room. Priced at $25,000 to start, the Saturn Vue Green Line is a great way to save money on both gas and on the price of a new car.
Saturn today announced that the all - new 2008 Saturn Vue Green Line hybrid will have a fuel economy rating of 25 miles per gallon in city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway -- the best highway mileage of any sport utility vehicle. Saturn also announced that the Vue Green Line will have a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $24,795, making it the most affordable hybrid SUV on the market. "You can go green without going broke," said Saturn General Manager Jill Lajdziak, "and with the Vue Green Line, you also don't have to give up utility, safety or comfort." In combined city and highway driving, the Vue hybrid's fuel economy estimate is 27 percent better than the non-hybrid four-cylinder Vue. The fuel economy estimates are calculated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, using the government's new 2008 testing procedure that was revised to better reflect real-world mileage. The hybrid Vue's 28 mpg combined city/highway rating gives the Saturn line-up a compact utili
Six months after the launch of the Saturn Vue Green Line, General Motors will halt production of the vehicle. In what may be the most bizarre product introduction in auto industry history, GM trumpeted the release of the Vue Green Line last fall—as a sign of the company’s commitment to hybrids and the environment—but will phase out production starting in March, and then start back again in September, replacing the 2007 Vue Green Line with the redesigned 2008 version. This start-stop will leave a six-month gap during which dealers will run out of the Saturn Vue Green Line. General Motor’s intention to release a hybrid version of the Saturn Vue dates back to the Detroit Auto Show in 2003. At that time, Tom Stephens, GM’s vice-president of powertrain, said, “GM will introduce a Saturn Vue with an advance hybrid system in the latter half of the 2005 calendar year.” Stephens indicated that “drivers can expect fuel economy gains of up to 50 percent” with the hybrid Vue. Saturn isn’t one of the my favorite cars but the Saturn Aura Green Line will be one of the first eco-friendly cars from GM.
The hybrid version of Saturn Aura has the following features:
It gets 28 mpg city and 35 mpg highway. That’s 8 mpg better city and 5 mpg better highway than Aura with its most fuel-efficient gas engine, a 3.5-liter V-6 rated at 20 city/30 highway. Not 50 or 60 mpg, but a significant bump.

General Motors Corp. said on Monday its Saturn Aura Green Line hybrid will qualify for a $1,300 tax credit, making it the cheapest hybrid in the U.S. market. The Aura, which will be the first passenger sedan hybrid from a U.S. automaker and will compete with Toyota Motor Corp.'s Prius, started shipping to dealers last week and will go on sale this month.
The folks at Saturn have finally slapped a sticker on their 2007 Aura Green Line, and at $22,695 (with destination fee) it undercuts the price of every other hybrid on the market. If that wasn't enough incentive to woo would be fuel misers into the dealership, the Green Line also qualifies for the $1,300 federal tax credit.[Source: Autoblog via GM]Continued- Article, official press releaseAs a refresher, the hybrid setup in the Aura combines a 2.4L engine to an electric motor/generator to produce 164 HP and 159 lb.-ft. of torque while returning current EPA mileage figures of 28 city/35 highway. The 30-percent increase in mileage over the base Aura is achieved by both shutting off the engine at idle and cutting fuel delivery during deceleration. The Aura GL is considered a "mild" hybrid since the electric motor doesn't move the vehicle on its own or assist the IC engine in acceleration at any time.http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/19/saturn-aura-green-line-becomes-lowest-priced-hybrid/P

A marketing guru once told me that many companies sell themselves based on their weakest attributes. By playing up what the market perceives as their limitations, the company seeks to reverse “misconceptions” which prevent greater popularity. The strategy is what Hitler called “The Big Lie:” a falsehood of such size and splendor that no one can believe that someone had “the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.” This explains why Ford Canada used the slogan “Quality is Job 1” while building the Tempo and Escort. It also illuminates automakers’ greenwashing.
