Il singolo che lo anticipa è "Graveyard Girl", nel quale Gonzalez è affiancato dal cantante Morgan Kibby dei Romanovs. In questo brano, come in tutto il disco, il francese vuole rievocare i sentimenti dell'adolescenza e contemporaneamente l'atmosfera degli anni '80. E riesce a centrare l'obiettivo. Il cantato è quasi sussurrato rispetto alle parti strumentali, più potenti. Elettronica e shoegaze si uniscono a una vena new wave. Saturdays = Youth es la última entrega de M83 después del éxito logrado con Before The Dawn Heals Us. Creo que "S = Y" es un excelente disco con canciones que se distinguen perfectamente unas entre otras, cada una con un color único y líneas fácilmente distinguibles. El disco explora varios sonidos y también diferentes ritmícas, considero que ésto lo hace un poco más versatil al restarle monotonía. Sin embargo, es difícil encontrar momentos climáticos y los altibajos se quedan sin brillar en un trabajo que potencialmente debería de tener más explosiones. Aquí les dejo el video de Graveyard Girl y opinen ustedes.
i found this particular location to be quite vibrant with a spiritual energy-- though it's a place for the dead, i think the living can still find a sense of inner peace. perhaps that's one reason we have graveyards in the first place--not only for the souls of the departed, but to serve as a vital link between generations, and help the living recall where they came from.
