I have reviewed plenty of functional drinks that energize only your mind, but today I review the first pure energy water (Brainiac doesn’t quite count) that claims to do that with SoBe Life Water Enlighten. It uses L-theanine like AMP Elevate and also the yerba mate that is now familiar in many drinks. Enlighten comes in the same packaging as SoBe Life Water Challenge, but with a purple theme
Last week I blogged about the bright, bold colors of summer - specifically, orange. Another great color making an appearance this summer is purple.

Red grape juice is good source of polyphenols. Polyphenols which were once known as ‘vitamin P’ are chemicals found in plants which may have antioxidant activity. Further, these chemical substances found in plants may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

A new study suggests that red grape juice may offer the same protection against heart disease as red wine.
“Grape juice can have a similar effect as red wine but without the alcohol,” said lead researcher Dr. Valeri Schini-Kerth. According to the FDA, drinking one to two glasses of red wine each day may lower cholesterol [...]

My first post for the new plants is on this Coccoloba uvifera ' Albo-variegata ' or Variegated Sea Grape . It has been top on my list of wants. But it is very expensive for just a small clipping. I have seen them for as much as $95 for a piece that is only 2 ft tall. 1 of the vendors had 2 very nice size Variegated Sea Grapes for $50 each. After lots of though Aaron and myself decided to split it. So we pooled together $48 and she took it. Now we will let it grow and then divide it. Today the lady told us if we would like we can bring it down to her propagation house and she would divide it for us if we wanted for free. Aaron does have a several normal Sea Grapes in the yard so we are going to practice on some of those first and see if we can be successful at propagating them are selves.
I have been looking for this energy drink for a long time! The drink is NOS Grape. I was hoping I would get the can, but I came across the bottle. It’s the first NOS Energy Drink I have had in a bottle and it is designed to be shaped like the NOS cylinders that are used to speed up your car. The bottle is made of tough blue plastic and clocks in at 22 fluid ounces. In some ways I can see how a
-Day 82. Fighting always last answer to problem- Mr. MiyagiSaturday evening was my couch potato night since I survived YET ANOTHER family get together. All the crazy key players were there, doing all their mocking with their rocking and their rolling. Brother Dan was being poked fun at for not knowing how to dance. Bee was poked fun at because she is now too self conscious to dance in serious venues. Sister Nancy cuz her butt counted the stairs as she fell down them when she was about 10. Brother Sergio because he still thinks the White Sox are gonna win... uh, be careful with that one because he gets mad. :opAnyway, I was wondering what my post would be about since I didn't do anything exciting other than play snow baseball. Corporate risk is all about opening your mind to the possibilities of a great company. Narrow-mindedness, lack of foresight, and lack of leadership skills can create long-terms risks for corporations unmatched by that which we find and see in normal risk management. The grapes from a weak vine simply don’t grow well. Assuming that the vine is the way in which the company conducts its business in terms of management style, acceptance of innovation, management style and accountability then the overall health of the organization is really a by product of the strength of the vine. If the vine is weak, struggling, or diseased then all of the fruit (the grapes) will not be healthy either. For example, an organization expanding into another market may need to tackle a number of risks which incl

"There is a fundamental difference between our master's course and the other existing wine courses at Adelaide (University) or Charles Sturt (University)," Professor Barlow says. "They are good courses but we cater for a very new niche; and we are not just a wine course. The new Melbourne Model means students can fit other areas of study into their existing course work." Winemakers, wine growers, or wine marketers were once trained in a more focused manner but under the new model students will be able to add other areas of academic endeavour, such as economics, agribusiness, environmental studies, or food science on the way to their masters qualification.
Preliminary crush data for 2007 were released on Feb 10th. And there was much rejoicing. Some of the data are pretty interesting. I’ve highlighted a couple bits below.

By: Gloria MacTaggart Until just a few years ago, Vitamins C, E and Betacarotene were known to be the most powerful antioxidants on the market. However, a new product has taken their place - the grape seed. Although especially effective for dry skin, grape seed extract will benefit any skin type and help reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Products containing grape seed oil and extract may replace many of your current skin care remedies and give you a chance to switch to natural skin care. Research on the grape seed began when scientists decided to investigate the reason behind the lower incidence of heart disease in France. The country's traditional diet of rich foods and other lifestyle factors certainly did not align with what they knew to be heart-healthy requirements. Their resea
Italy can pose a challenge to wine lovers who want to move beyond the familiar Chianti, Soave, prosecco and Asti. With 20 regions and some 2,000 wine grape varietals, it's hard to know where to start. Add to this a four-tiered quality control system that doesn't always guarantee quality and unfamiliar names on the labels, and it's enough to make you return to the well-known charms of California wine.
Growing numbers of Italian winemakers are turning to local, often old grape varieties to mark themselves out against foreign competitors. Rare varieties such as Uva di Troia were making a comeback, said Serena Sutcliffe MW at an Italian wine tasting in London this week.
Stuffed grape leaves, also known as "Dolmathes" are a Mediterranean and Middle Eastern delicacy made with tasty and fragrant herbs like dill, fennel, and parsley. They are usually served as an appetizer. There are many variations to the recipe, some include meat. This is a family recipe from Greece. It is meatless and contains fresh herbs. The rolls are traditionally accompanied by Feta cheese and olives.- 1 Cup Rice- 1 Jar ( 8 ounces) Grape Leaves- 3 or 4 Scallions, chopped- 4 Cups Water- 1/4 Cup Chopped Fennel- 1/4 Cup Chopped Dill- 1/4 Cup Chopped Parsley- 1/2 Cup Olive Oil, Plus 2 Tablespoons- Juice of 1 LemonPlace 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a skillet and saute the scallions until tender. Add the herbs, rice and 2 cups water, cover and simmer for about 10 or 15 minutes, until water is absorbed and rice is al dente. "Following consecutive 12-wk administration of tablets containing 0, 200 or 400 mg grape seed extract (calculated as proanthocyanidin) to 61 healthy subjects with LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) levels of 100 to 180 mg/dL, effects of such treatment compared to administration of placebo tablets on malondialdehyde-modified LDL (MDA-LDL), representing one oxidized type of LDL, were investigated by a single blind method. MDA-LDL level in the 200 mg (calculated as proanthocyanidin) group was significantly (p = 0.008) reduced compared to the basal level, 12 wk after the start of administration.""These results suggested that tablets containing grape seed extract exerted reducing effects on oxidized LDL, and might be useful in preventing lifestyle-related diseases such as arteriosclerosis."Sano A, Uchida R, Saito M, Shioya N, Komori Y, Tho Y, Hashizume N. Figures released by the two largest wine grape producing states suggest that 2007 was a good year in the vineyards. The California Department of Food and Agriculture forecast a harvest of 3.2 million tons, up under one percent from the previous year. Meanwhile, the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers reports a record harvest of 127,150 tons, up 5.5 percent. Two-thirds of all wine sold in the U.S. comes from California wineries. A total of 449 million gallons of California wine were sold in the U.S. in 2006 with an estimated retail value of $17.8 billion.
Someone came to my blog from Andrew Ooi’s list. He then in his blog, laughed out loud at us paid bloggers, and said that we deserved this zerofied page rank.
He then did a search for his blog’s name in Google, returning search results where his blog was at 1st and 2nd position. And then, he said in his blog that he was so proud of himself.
Ptui! Come on! His blog name is damn dumb, as if people would search for that? I’m not going to promote his blog name here giving him the benefit of traffic, but I really had a good laugh at this.
I can do a search in Google for ‘The Suzette’, and it puts me on 1st and 2nd position as well! Am I proud of this? I am terribly proud of myself! Ahahahaha! This is really stupid!
Oh, BTW, that fella’s blog has a ZERO page rank, which I think he didn’t realize that. Serves him right. That’s also why I stop thinking that Google is penalizing paid bloggers or paid links.

Can't these wine makers need to buy a damn machine to squash and juice the grapes or at least use a stone block or something!? If I was a red wine drinker I would want to sip my wine knowing that I'm not going to be tasting grape with a twang of foot and possibly somebody's toenail. As for that grape lady, she sounded like she was being raped by a Sea lion as she was about to transform into a werewolf. I bet she was in no hurry to return to work after that nasty fall on national television. She probably has nightmares of grapes punching her in the face and suffocating her. Poor woman. It's been a long week of sickness that has finally abated but has left me quarantined in my home for most of the past seven days. So today I leave you with Quotes of the Week--may you make more sense of them than I do.Overheard after running club: "I'm so sweaty I bet you could put your finger at the top of my nose and it would just slip right off with all the sweat. See? See?"***Overheard during Basic Training in the garage: "They ought to make bombs in the shape of kitchen utensils. Then you when you needed to bomb somebody you could just say, 'Hey, here's some kitchen utensils!'"***Overheard during a game of "Trick-or-Treating Legos" (don't ask) I heard an unnamed adult--not me--say, "Tell us about the vampires. Its amazing how most of the times, it is the sidekick which brings more flavor to the main course, right? The dips, sauces, pickles and salads make all the difference between good food and great food on a table, so it's important to give due respect to these side dishes and accompaniments which add more value to what you cook. One such experiment I tried last week was with green tomatoes and grapes. The markets are flooded with ripe tomatoes, yet there are so many green ones too that I was tempted to try making a dip using these. Grapes are found in abundance in CA, and when I came across this grape chutney recipe over at Food Network, I couldn't resist the temptation to combine tomatoes with grapes and add some green apple to it to form a nice savoury sauce. With the seasoning and green chillies, it turned out to be a wonderfully successful experiment!Ingredients5-6 large green tomatoes - sliced1 semi-ripe green apple3 cups green seedless grapes1 tbsp salt1/3 cup chopped onions1 1/2

Well this is called hitting everything in one shot! I didn't have time for this though since coffee announed her MBP to be Bread. Since then have been religiously checking out all the bloggers recipes, well first came Jai & Bee with their chelsea-buns and to make things better for me Nirmala sent in her version of the same. Now I followed the bun measurement as Nirmala and filling as B&J's, only change I added was 1/2 banana to the dough and Sliced banana with Raisins soaked in Honey for the fillings. Brushed Honey on the top and allowed it to rest for an hour. Baked this in MW for 5 mins, buns were ready. So sending this to Coffee for her MBP: Bread. For JFI:Banana hosted by Ahaar and to Swad who is hosting AFAM which is Grapes this month.Enjoy the Sunday!

Moby Grape - Moby Grape(1967)320kbpsMoby Grape's career was a long, sad series of minor disasters, in which nearly anything that could have gone wrong did (poor handling by their record company, a variety of legal problems, a truly regrettable deal with their manager, creative and personal differences among the band members, and the tragic breakdown of guitarist and songwriter Skip Spence), but their self-titled debut album was their one moment of unqualified triumph. Moby Grape is one of the finest (perhaps the finest) album to come out of the San Francisco psychedelic scene, brimming with great songs and fresh ideas while blessedly avoiding the pitfalls that pock marked the work of their contemporaries -- no long, unfocused jams, no self-indulgent philosophy, and no attempts to sonically recreate the sound of an acid trip. Instead, Moby Grape built their sound around the brilliantly interwoven guitar work of Jerry Miller, Peter Lewis, and Skip Spence, and the clear, bright harmonies
I am blessed and cursed at the same time when it comes to my love of wine; blessed because I had a golden opportunity to learn more about it, become knowledgeable and informed and be able to now hold my own when it comes to a bottle, a wine store or a question regarding wine, but at the same time, I feel cursed because I don’t have anyone to regularly share my good finds with, or be able to wax philosophic with over the merits of a good Torrontes. Mike is not a wine drinker, and although I can tell him endlessly what I love about a bottle I am drinking, it’s better when the recipient of such information can appreciate it in the same way that I am.

The landscape around us has remained stark since the last of the grape bushes were prunned at the end of the year but it’s all about to change.
As you can see the first shoots have started to appear on the grape bushes just beside us but already the landscape has taken a greener appearance. The various types of grape start growing at different times so we’ve been watching as the greenery has been sweeping towards us over the last week or so and we noticed the first signs of growth in the plants beside us just a few days ago.
What’s very surprising is the sheer speed at which the plants grow. Once they get started, you can find a small bush appearing within just a few days of rain. The climate locally is pretty dry so most of the growth happens in very short bursts after each day that we get rain.
Check this out! This reporter falls off the platform while stomping grapes, then you can hear her choking... eh it I know it doesn't sound nice... what is priceless is at the end, her work colleagues are not to sure what to say. And what they do say is just stupid.
UK Reasearches have found that grape juice is better for you than other fruit juices as it contains the most polyphenols which are strong antioxidants.
Purple grape juice is on the top list, apple juice and cranberry juice follow, while orange juice, the most popular fruit juice, comes way down the list, according to the study by researchers at the University of Glasgow.
Purple grape juice made with Concord grapes contains the highest and broadest range of polyphenols as well as having the highest antioxidant capacity, and other high-ranking products include cloudy apple juice and cranberry juice drink.

Vineyards in Oregon had a record harvest in 2006, up 38 percent from the previous year.According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, 34,400 tons of wine grapes were harvested in Oregon during last Fall's crush. The new record was the result of a good growing season and newly planted vineyards staring to produce a crop.Demand for Oregon wine is growing, thanks to the popularity of pinot noir and pinot gris, which form the backbone of the Oregon wine industry.
I didn’t see them at the florist yet, but in our garden there is against all odds already 1 cute little blue flower: the grape hyacinth (which should start blooming in full force after the crocus… nature has its own ways: flowers don’t read our Spring flower bulb chronology…)
Muscari armeniacum
Muscari are bulbs producing spikes of blue flowers resembling little blue grapes. That’s where the name "grape hyacinth" comes from. Yet muscari blooms much earlier than normal hyacinths, muscari flowers are much smaller and these flowers don’t have any perfume.
Growing muscari is very easy. Grape hyacinths are ideal to grow in pots and they are lasting: each year you have another pot of little blue flowers.

It may be called "The Big Apple," but this week New York City was all about the grapes. As Mercedes Benz Fashion Week begins to wind down, one of the biggest trends this week has been the use of rich, exotic color to accent autumn neutrals. Over the past few days, the use of delicious shades of violet and plum has stood out as being particularly fresh and inviting.
If you are like most women, you don't own a stitch of purple clothing. Who can blame you? This notoriously hard to wear color has a bad rap as the favorite color of delightfully delirious old ladies thanks to Jenny Joseph's famous poem. In reality, shades of purple can actually be quite flattering and are especially well suited to woman with green and brown eyes. Ready to dip your toe into the world of purple clothing? Try out a shirt or peacoat in rich, dark plum. Set to jump in head first? A satin cocktail dress in shocking violet a la Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti is sure to turn heads. Any way you look at it, Fall 200
Pocky, for those of you who are unfamiliar, is one of the most popular candies in Japan. It’s basically a long thin biscuit stick that has a flavored frosting coating covering one end. In the past decade it has been increasing in popularity in the US. Many varieties and flavors exist with chocolate being the standard. The name “Pocky” references the the “poc” sound the candy makes when you bite it. Pretty neat huh?
“Just like a decoration cake on a stick!” chirps the label on the packet. The Decorer Pocky is the biggest and thickest of all the Pocky, mainly due to two layers of frosted coating on the biscuit stick. The top layer is very artfully applied and it does look like cake frosting in a very removed way. Each packet inside the box contains 4 packets of only 3 sticks (unlike the other types of Pocky which give you 4 or more per packet) and is a little deceiving in terms of satisfaction. They’re more satisfying than they seem! I lik
French May Try to Block EU Wine Reforms: The European Union is ready to institute several measures that face objections from the French wine industry. EU lawmakers are considering elimination of subsidies for pulling out vines, so-called crisis distillation programs and grants for winemakers retiring from the industry.
The EU says the programs cost too much, do little to improve quality and have not had an impact on the wine glut in several nations. France, Italy and Spain, the largest EU wine producers, receive about 90 percent of the subsidy payments. Changes to the laws would have an impact on the 2008 vintage.

NFL Takes the Tiger Out of the Fermentation Tanks: Jungle Juice Wine maker Elk Creek Vineyards has found out just how many lawyers the National Football League has on its staff. I bristle at the thought of being called elitist about wine. Sure, I'm particular (hell, these bottles aren't free), but snobby? No. Wine is, after all, just fruit that's gone bad in a good way. It's hard to sit quietly, though, when I hear people toss out generalities about wine that aren't just stereotypical, but dead wrong. One that just absolutely makes me choke on my Vouvray is that "blends are lesser wines made from lesser fruit."Oh, really? California wines tend to be single varietal, and California tends to be the reference point for most American wine drinkers. So I guess I understand where that thought comes from, but make no mistake: Blends don't incorporate multiple grapes to make up for poor quality. Broaden your scope of reference and you'll find some of the world's most spectacular wines are made from more than one variety. Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Bordeaux, Meritage. These are reds that have incredible complexity, balance and character.White blends do, too. Try on t

He just entered the race for president. When what seems to be the next greatest thing comes along, it's hard to resist over-hype. But resist it we must. Especially early on in the game. A great tragic example of over-hype is Moby Grape. Of all the sixties bands to emerge from San Francisco, Moby Grape had the most promise. Average prices paid for red wine grapes were up a fraction to $634 a ton, while white wine grapes dropped slight to $502 a ton. In the U.S. new vineyards are popping up in places like North Carolina and Illinois, adding to the supply.Other news that has been reported lat
