The top seed at this week's Stanford Classic, Williams has had what many players on the WTA tour would consider a good season, winning in Bangalore, Miami and Charleston.
However, she has fallen short at the grand slams,

Most of us have fond memories of the sports games of a simpler time: making little Wayne’s head bleed in NHLPA Hockey ‘93, proving Bo knows almost everything in Tecmo Super Bowl and the hit-n-run ambulance in Madden ‘92. With so many awesome experiences you’d think someone would bring back [...]
Felipe Lopez clubbed a tie-breaking grand slam in the sixth inning and the Nationals went on to double up the Mets 10-5 to earn a split in their two-game set at Nationals Park. Lopez ended 2-for-6 with six RBI and a run scored for Washington, which beat New York for the first time in five tries this season. Willie Harris scored three times, and Wil Nieves and Aaron Boone had two hits and two runs scored apiece in the victory. Mike O'Connor tossed a scoreless inning of relief to collect his first win of the year. Carlos Beltran hit a solo homer and Marlon Anderson had a pinch-hit solo blast for the Mets, who have dropped four of their last five games. Oliver Perez was charged for five runs on six hits over five-and-two-thirds innings to slip to 2-and-1.
Obviously Chicago Cubs infielder Ronny Cedeno is looking to take advantage of his playing time while Ryan Theriot is out with a back injury; Cedeno took a step in the right direction as he hit a grand slam home run in the 8th inning, leading Chicago to the easy 8-1 win over the New York Mets Tuesday at Wrigley Field. Chicago was led by the aforementioned Cedeno with 2 hits, including a double, a HR, 2 runs scored and 5 RBIs while Kosuke Fukudome had 3 hits with 2 runs scored; Felix Pie added 2 hits in the Cubs' offensive attack. Ted Lilly (1-3) earned the win as he pitched 6 innings, allowing only 4 hits, an earned run, walking 4 while striking out 4. New York was led by Brady Clark who went 1-for-4 with an RBI; Nelson Figueroa (1-1) took the loss as he pitched 5 innings, allowing 7 hits,

Things seemed to be going the Indians way on Monday night in Los Angeles as they scored three runs in the ninth to take a 4-2 lead over the Angels. Then of course - enter Joe Borowski. The closer that always makes you sweat did that and more, as he got an out, but then a single and two walks later, JoeBo gave up a walk-off grand slam to Torii Hunter, and with that the Indians are back to under .500 at 3-4.In almost a rerun of last years collapse of Borowksi in the early part of the season when he allowed Alex Rodriguez to hit a walk off homer against him early in the year in New York, this type of loss reminds fans why Borowski is just like a gas can. You never know when a fire is going to land by that gas can, and when it's going to explode, just like last night. The Indians, after thei
Frank Thomas hit his 11th career grand slam yesterday in Toronto's 7-4 over Boston. It was his second home run of the season, and it brought his season RBI and run totals to 8 and 4, respectively. While many fantasy managers question the Big Hurt's ability to stay injury-free, those who own him know--and can see from last week's numbers--that he is well worth owning when he's active.

This Sunday (23/03/2008) sees the top four Premier League football clubs do battle (Manchester United vs Liverpool and Arsenal vs Chelsea). These fixtures could make or break the season. With Manchester United currently leading the pack and sitting three points clear at the the top of the Premier League, but that could all change with a slip up against Liverpool and Arsenal defeating Chelsea. So are these fixtures going to live up to the hype surrounding them, probably not, as they usually end up cancelling each other out and not making good viewing for a neutral fan. That won't stop me watching them on the box and hopefully enjoying a humdinger of a weekend. Predictions I predict that Manchester United will beat Liverpool 2-1 and Arsenal and Chelsea will cancel each other out resulting

US Open champion Angel Cabrera overcame an atrocious start with a spectacular finish to win the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, outlasting Padraig Harrington in a playoff.Cabrera recovered from a triple bogey on the opening hole that put him five shots behind with a birdie-eagle finish to close with a two-under 68 and get into a playoff with the British Open champion at Mid-Ocean Club.He finally beat Harrington on the third extra hole with another booming tee shot and a 4-iron into 18 feet on the par-5 18th. Cabrera took two putts for birdie, which was all he needed when Harrington hit into a deep bunker off the tee and still had four feet for par when the Argentine tapped in. It was the first time Harrington, who closed with a 69, had trailed all afternoon. Cabrera finished at 4-under 136, earning $US600,000 ($A674,574) from the tournament restricted to major champions...Read full article hereThe biggest disappointment of this event was that Tiger didn't play and it almost felt like the
I can't believe this is the 12th year of this amazing event! The tennis champ founded the Andre Agassi Chartiable Foundation in order to provide recreational and educational opportunities for at-risk children in Southern Nevada. And now, after raising over $60 million and helping more than 20 organizations, Andre held his annual event on October 6th at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas to help grow the Foundation even more.
Who was there? Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20, Carlos Santana, Emeril Lagasse, Jerry Seinfeld, CSI Miami's Emily Proctor, Dancing with the Stars' Helio Castroneves, Tony Bennett and of course Andre Agassi and wife Steffi Graf.
And to thank the presenters and performers, Andre always outdoes himself with a lavish gift and this year was no exception. Distinctive Assets, our talented friends who handle the gift lounges at the Grammys and other amazing events, were on hand with gift bags and a lounge for the 12th Annual Grand
Women's tennis gets me excitable for all the wrong reasons.Yes, women now get paid the same as their male counterparts at Wimbledon. That's good because it is quite right that men and women get paid the same amount for doing the same job. The only thing is it isn't the same job is it? If you look at the two Wimbledon Singles Champions this year, Roger Federer and Venus Williams respectively, then examine the number of sets and games played en-route to glory you find two very different pictures emerging. The flawless Roger Federer played 21 sets and 204 games on his way to equalling Bjorn Borg's 5 successive Wimbledon titles. To put that in context, Tommy Haas, Federer's 4th round opponent pulled out with an injury giving the stylish Federer a bye into the quarter finals. The grunting Venus Williams on the other hand played 16 sets and 146 games. That equates to a mismatch in games/sets played of around 75%. When you consider that Federer played one less match in total than Venus Wil

“I had a funny feeling it was going to come down to me somehow even with two out and nobody on … I always end up in the middle of something.”, Alex Rodriguez said.
No matter how great Alex Rodriguez in Saturday’s game as the Yankees’ fans jumped in celebration for the walk-off grand slam enroute to a 10-7 win over Baltimore, the critics are still asking for a solid postseason game from A-Rod.
Derek Jeter was elated and gave Alex Rodriguez a shove right up the steps. And all the Yankee players were jubilant as if they had won the World Series.
The grand slam is what Rodriguez needs to boost up his confidence and to stop some negative acceptance from the Yankees’ fans.
A-Rod’s quest for the gold started in the first inning when his two-run homer off former Met Steve Trachsel produced a 2-1 lead.
