When I started my undergraduate degree I have no idea what will be my career after school. Even when I was in my last year in college, I am still clueless.
Most people I met have almost identical reaction whenever they learn about my undergraduate degree. Thinking that this is a very difficult degree, they are wondering how one survives it. Well, depending on the student, chemical engineering

After graduating my associate's degree in computer technology, I have been having trouble looking for a job back home. Every time I attend for a job fair and interview, they always ask my qualification and I always ended up with disappointment. There was a wide competency between the graduates of a 4 year course and a 2 year course. Of course, employers prefer to hire those they think are experien

Volunteering as a way to check out possible career paths is something I often discuss. Yet, after reading The Wall Street Journal’s July 3rd Careers article “Altruism Meets a Weak Job Market” by Anne Marie Chaker, I wanted to talk about a different kind of “volunteering” as a way to do good and, at the same time, increase one’s transportable skills. First, what do I mean by transp

The cold numbers and profit-first logic of the finance world can make finance graduates feel like robots. Financial firms place a premium on dispassionate advising and an adherence to regulations to protect the investments of clients big and small. While it is important to maintain an impeccable standard of performance, finance graduates need to make some aspects of their jobs personal to provide the best service possible. Finance graduates need to take a micro level approach to their job on occasion to stay grounded. The temptation for many graduates is to look at commission numbers and the portfolios of larger clients to increase efficiency on the job. An occasional review of stock holdings, investments and the financial overview for a young family or a small-scale investor can bring the

A resume is a summary of a person's qualifications, educational background, skills and competencies. Prospective employers often put a great emphasis on resumes when looking for the best candidate for an available position. As such, it is important that you dedicate some time to craft a well-written resume to ever have a chance of landing a good role. Resume writing, however, is not some skill that is easily mastered. Crafting a professional resume becomes even more challenging when you are new to the job market or when you are changing careers because you often won't have the specific skills pertinent to the job. So, how do you proceed on writing a winning resume? For someone who is a new graduate, it is always hard to decide what to put on your resume as you may not have the professiona

Yesterday I began reading the book “How to Succeed in Your First Job: Tips for New College Graduates” by Elwood F. Holton III and Sharon S. Naquin. The premise of the book is that, because new college graduates have spent the last 17 years in school, their mindset is not the mindset necessary for success in the work world. Therefore, according to the book’s authors, these new college graduates risk stumbling badly because they react to the work world as they would a school environment. Although I’d only read the preface and first four chapters, I found myself disagreeing with the book’s premise. The specifics of college that the authors list as radically different in the work world didn’t resonate with me. For example, the authors listed “frequent, quick and c

Photo from istockIt's the finals week for both my little brother and sister. And for most of the college students here in Cebu, except for the graduating students. Why isn't it the finals for them? Because they're already done with their finals, that's why. Last week, they already took their exams, while the candidates for the honor roll took their about two to three weeks ago. Well, if you go to the Cebu Institute of Technology, that's how it works. It's graduation day again this March 15, 2008. I graduated from my first degree on March 19th, almost three years ago. Saying that, I realize that I've done so little in getting wealthy. By wealthy, I don't just mean getting rich financially. I mean getting rich in experience in life, work experience, and more. But it's not because I was slacki
Although many people have achieved the dream of completing their college education, many of them face an unfortunate downside following graduation: paying back the inevitable student loan.
Too often it is not just one loan looming over students, many of whom have yet to settle into the sometimes overwhelming realities of the workforce and daily life.

While still excluded from the DSM IV TR, Internet addiction has graduated to a subject worthy of research. And not surprisingly, like all other addictive behaviors, what I like to call "temporary feel goods", are associated with a lot of other diagnoses. Avoiding negative emotions has serious consequences, beyond even addictions.
CNS Spectrums
Internet addiction were more likely to have MDD, dysthymic disorder, social phobia and adult ADHD than their unaffected counterparts. Adult ADHD is the most significant predictor for Internet addiction, followed by depressive disorders. Social phobia, however, was not correlated with Internet addiction in our sample after controlling for depressive disorders and adult ADHD. Further, depressive disorders and Internet addiction were associated in the
Clarence Garrett, an 87-year-old man from Wisconsin, finally graduated college from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a bachelor’s degree. The college Chancellor, Carlos Santiago, said, “We are not sure if Clarence Garrett is the oldest to ever graduate from UWM, but we do know that there had not been a graduate for some time who was born when the president was Woodrow Wilson.”
Garrett was also chosen by the school to lead some of the graduates into the US Cellular Arena, in which he received a standing ovation when he was given his degree. His wife, children and grandchildren were at the commencement ceremony to witness the graduation.
There was a 50 year gap in Garrett’s higher education. He started back in the spring of 2006 to finish his college classes and get his bachelors. Garrett said, “After all my children went to college…I said, ‘Why shouldn’t I?’,” and he says he has “loved it ever since.&rd

40% of Malaysian fresh graduates ran into financial difficulties due to credit card debts.
Phew...welcome into credit card debt world ! I am trying to get myself out of credit card trap and these young undergraduates are digging their holes now.
The reason lies in Malaysians ....like me ...;D who generally lack expertise in personal financial planning.
The idea is so simple and yet brilliant. Call the toll free number 1-800-GOOG-411 (4664-411) and using just your voice, get information about local businesses. It even dials for you. The voice recognition is excellent and apparently required extensive training. From Google: It's a voice-based local search service, which means it uses speech-recognition algorithms to recognize what a caller is saying and then finds the local business information he or she is looking for. These algorithms had to be trained with real utterances, much like how a baby learns language by listening to its parents. Since its unveiling in April, GOOG-411 has successfully served millions of callers. And we owe a big thanks to everyone who took our speech recognition algorithms from infancy to adulthood! To mark the occasion, they're celebrating with a brand new website that includes a fun video.

We just recently began giving baby the Gerber Graduates Finger Foods as he is now 6 months old. We started with the Potato Puffs because sweet potato has been one of his favorite foods so far. I thought that baby would start feeding himself these immediately, as everything else seems to end up in his mouth! Ironically this is the one thing he hasn't figured out to eat! However I put them in his mouth for him, and he enjoys chewing them and seems proud of himself. I am comfortable with the potato puffs because they dissolve quickly (I tried them myself! Tasty!)My girlfriend gives the finger foods to her 11 month old all the time and I know her baby loves them. We are going to keep trying and I am sure my baby will be feeding himself these in no time!RATING:*****

1. You are Hired! Program by Malaysian Today
Malaysian Today (not the Raja Petra’s Malaysia Today) has partnered up with JobsDB.com in some sort of reality program to search for the ‘Malaysia’s next corporate hotshot’. Unlike Donald Trump’s The Apprentice and the Malaysia’s very own Apprentice, The Firm, the program will not be aired in TV and you would not get that 5 minutes of fame like Omarossa or Dr Jahar. However, this will be a pretty good exposure for the targeted contestants, which are the final year students to find a stepping stone in the working world.
Basically, in the You are Hired! program, 50 contestants will be picked during the program road tours held at major campus and universities across Malaysia and out of the 50 contestants, 7 winners will be selected and each will be offered a job from 7 participating companies in the program. The selection will be based on academic results (40% ratio) and interview performance (60%). Addition
Uneducated GraduatesI am often amazed at how some people with impressive academic credits can be so stupid when it comes to the most important subjects that affect their very lives? Cindy Sheehan described the out of touch, right wing spokes person William Kristol this way," By all accounts, Mr. Kristol is a brilliant man, who like his father before him, uses his brilliance for destruction. He is a shameless supporter of a failed, murderous, and miserable strategy in Iraq and Afghanistan and one of the "mushroom cloud" crowd. One thing Mr. William Kristol is not, is a combat vet."I think she gives Kristol too much credit. Does she believe he is brilliant because he graduated from Harvard? George Bush graduated from Harvard, although I am yet to hear any Harvard folks brag about it. I never equated academic credentials with character or smarts and certainly not with moral structure. All during the sixties the Kristol types baffled me. They claim to be patriotic and they are not. The High School Feedback Report for the Class of 2004 by the Council on Postsecondary Education offers a broad range of information about college preparation and participation of Kentucky's 2004 high school graduates. Produced collaboratively with data collected by the Council, the Kentucky Department of Education, the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, ACT, Inc. and The College Board, the report examines students' performance during their first two years of college in Kentucky....Each high school report features comparison info at the school, district and state levels and important school statistics such as ACT and Advanced Placement test-taking and success. With a more user-friendly format, the report is designed to be a tool for data-based decision-making at the local and state levels.Statewide data included in the report shows 81 percent of students graduate high school and 51 percent enroll in a Kentucky college or university. After years of hard work, popular soda pop, Mr. Pibb has completed his doctorate in refreshment studies, earning the right to be called Dr. Pibb. Interviewed after the commencement address by pop elder-statesman RC Cola, Dr. Pibb made the following statement:
"I can't describe the joy I felt after the academy accepted my thesis (Refreshment and Medieval French Midwifery). I hope to use my degree to bring carbonated beverages to people around the globe."
Dr. Pibb did not address criticism that it was his ongoing envy of pop-rival that provided the motivation for his academic achievement.
Responding from a Chuck E. Cheese opening, Dr. Pepper said, "This is pretty pathetic. First, he didn't go to a real school; he went to a degree mill that would probably award a doctorate to Sam's Choice. Most of his courses were online, for crying out loud! Second, I don't know; he just sucks."
After the graduation ceremony, Dr. Pibb left for a well-deserved vacation with his long-time companio

Graduations always make me fondly reminiscent. I always think back to my graduation, when I wore a dress that I thought was too short (IT SHOWED MY KNEES!!.. if only I had realized that I was so much thinner than I felt), when my blonde hair was down to the middle of my back, and when Josh made us all bawl during his amazing rendition of This is the Moment. Because it was. It was the moment.
I wish, as I wish for every graduating senior, that I had realized how much I held in my hand that day. So much life before me, and I had the entire world within my reach. I look at that now and want to scoop my eyeballs out. WHAT IN THE HELL WAS I THINKING?
Of course, this year, it’s nice to attend a graduation, because I really am happy and proud of where I am. I’m in a relationship that most people only read about, we’re pregnant with our first child, and I’m in a job that I really do enjoy. We live in a nice house and I drive a great car. All in all
Your graduate worked hard (as far as you know) and its time to finally walk across the stage. What graduate doesn’t pine for their own set of wheels?
If they could choose & money was no object, you would no doubt find yourself shopping for something outrageous like an M5 or a Gallardo.
Being the sensible parent - you’ll make the smartest & safest decision because, hey…you have other things on your mind too!
Here’s the top ten cars for graduates. The selection criteria is based on fuel economy, insurability, reliability, safety, comfort and handling.
Honda Civic - No brainer…cool styling, reliable and even pretty fast if you opt for the Si model.
Mazda 3 - Fun to drive, high-end interior and very safe.
Scion tC - Show how hip you are by knowing what all the kids are into these days…go with the iPod connection add-on for extra points.
Scion xB - Every graduate needs a slick micro-bus vehicle to haul their friends around in (safely) - and no
President Bush used a speech to mostly Hispanic graduates of Miami Dade College on Saturday to press for an overhaul of immigration law, calling for changes that “resolve the status of those who are already here without amnesty, and without animosity.” Mr. Bush urged the 1,500 students, many of whom were born in other countries, to join the national debate on immigration policy, saying they “see every day the values of hard work and family and faith that immigrants bring” and so should make their voices heard.Nearly 80 percent of graduates at the college’s campus in Kendall, where Mr. Bush spoke, are Hispanic; many are Cuban-American. Mr. Bush got a standing ovation and fervent applause, even as hundreds of protesters waved signs along the perimeter of the suburban campus opposing the war and calling for the president’s impeachment. Mr. Bush’s younger brother, former Gov. Jeb Bush, came to hear him speak, along with Senator Mel Martinez, Republican of Florida, and s
I wasn't able to share this photo earlier. This is my 3-year old niece Reign who graduates from Toddler this March. Hahaha who would have thought she'd finish the school term?...
*From an email I received from HSLDA..
The U.S. Marine Corps has joined the U.S. Army in actively pursuing homeschooled students. A recent statement from the Marine Corps Recruiting Command Public Affairs Chief makes it clear that homeschoolers are eligible to enlist in all military programs, the same as a graduate from public school.
Furthermore, the Marine Corps has given homeschooled enlistees Tier I status in its internal ranking. This ensures that homeschoolers will receive any applicable enlistment bonuses.
Home School Legal Defense Association remains committed to ensuring that homeschoolers are fully able to enlist in any military program, and salutes the United States Marine Corps for recognizing the achievements of homeschooled graduates.
Details are outlined in the following news release from the Marines.

FRESH GRADUATES - PLEASE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING by MANOJ SHARMAAs a professional coach I get asked a whole host of questions by soon to graduate students with respect to their future. While there are no absolutes and various different path towards realizing our personal aspirations. The following are some basic guidelines worth considering. Please read through them, adopt what works for you and discard what does not and by all means include your own insights to it as well.1) Get some top notch MNC experience if possibleIt is not a prerequisite but it will give you exposure at the highest levels of business. This is irrespective of the role you play and the responsibilities you undertake. It will give you an appreciation of the global dynamics of business and if nothing else it will give you a great first hand experience of how the big boys play. Thereafter you can pursue whatever other path you desire.2) Keep your focus on where and how you can add valueYour value will increase as you

This mobshot was taken on February 10th, when Kian Ann run his first-ever Practical Blog Marketing workshop. A good start is better than none! I think he was really burned out. After all, it’s not easy to stand and talk the whole day.
The next run of Practical Blog Marketing will probably be 2 full days! The Blogopreneur has got so much more to share, so check details of the workshop and contact Kian Ann to reserve your seat for the next run.

There are days that I miss Princeton more than others. It's been good to do a year away, and I'm really looking forward to going back next year. Today is one of those days when I really remember why Princeton Theological Seminary is so special. Today at Princeton was Burt Reynolds Day. Guys on campus (including some faculty & staff) spend the fall growing out their facial hair and on one day in December, shave off everything except (normally) a mustache (although I see some really creative stuff in the photos). Girls are normally not a huge fan of the lead-up to the process - especially if you're dating one of those guys who really only has some nice pre-pubescent peach fuzz (no offense...that's me too!).
Anyway, enjoy my buddy Josh's photos here.

March is a time to march. It's the time of the year again when students receive their diplomas and shake hands with the top administrators of their schools. A day before I fly to Las Vegas, I will deliver a message to Grade School Graduating Class of 2008 of Kid's World Christian Academy in San Mateo, Rizal. The graduation will be held today around 12:30nn.Here is the written piece I shared to them:Greetings of Peace! Some relate graduation with the finish line or the ending. Others, on the contrary, say graduation is just the beginning. But for me, graduation is a transition period from an achieved stage to a new round of trials. You have already finished a lap of the race, and a new beginning is waiting for you come high school life. But beginni
