      The Gophers
My husband and I were busy fixing things in our yard yesterday. We have gophers problem in our front yard that annoying us every time we saw a new mound. After doing a lot of researched about how to get rid of this creature we finally decided to gas them. Oh, several weeks ago we tried to used road flares, sonic noise and bubble gum to keep the gophers stay away but unfortunately we haven't su

      Gophers Problem
I posted in this blog before about the gophers that destroying our front yard. My husband and I had used road flares to keep the gophers away but this doesn't help, they were still in their tunnel having a good time creating their mound. When one of our friend asked us about how's our new place, we said that we enjoyed it except the gopher's dilemma. He told us a story of his dad using juicy fr

Jared Allen what? Doesn’t anyone care that the Gophers got new uni’s?
I know that the NFL draft is tomorrow and I didn’t really break it down like I did last year.  Well, I guess that’s because second round projections aren’t that interesting.  Here are my two scenarios:  1) Vikings trade down to the late second or early third round to get an additional 4th round pick.  They [...]

Gophers hockey hoping last week’s offensive power transfers over to this weekend (CSTV U-WIRE)
(CSTV U-WIRE) MINNEAPOLIS — The Gophers will taste conference competition for the first time this season as they begin WCHA play against St. Cloud State. The Gophers (2-0-0, 0-0-0 WCHA) will battle the Huskies (0-2-0, 0-2-0 WCHA) in a home-and-home series. The teams will play at 6 p.m. Friday at Ridder Arena and at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Cloud at National Hockey Center. Minnesota plays a St. Cloud State team that is coming off a difficult season-opening weekend in which they did not register more…

O’Brien leaves Gophers for NHL (CSTV U-WIRE)
(CSTV U-WIRE) MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota men’s hockey player Jim O’Brien opted to forego his final three years of collegiate eligibility to join the NHL’s Ottawa Senators organization. The would-be sophomore played most of his time as a fourth line center last season and was highly anticipated to switch to defense during the 2007-08 campaign. O’Brien was selected 29th overall by the Senators in last June’s NHL Entry Draft. The move was received with mixed emotions by coach Don Lucia. "I more…

(CSTV U-WIRE) MINNEAPOLIS — Members of the University’s hockey teams will invade the state of New York throughout August to take part in USA Hockey tryouts for slots on the national team’s roster. The men’s hockey team will send six athletes to Lake Placid, N.Y., on Aug. 3 through 11 to compete in the 2007 National Junior Evaluation Camp, while four women’s hockey players will take part in the 2007 USA Women’s National Festival Aug. 14 through 21. The six participants from the men’s team more…

Goligoski’s departure puts Gophers in need of breakout seasons from defensemen (CSTV U-WIRE)
(CSTV U-WIRE) MINNEAPOLIS — At the press conference following Minnesota’s overtime loss to North Dakota in the NCAA regional final, defenseman Alex Goligoski was asked if he’d leave college early for the NHL. Goligoski, nursing a broken finger and an injured shoulder — not to mention a heartbreaking loss to a conference rival with a NCAA Frozen Four berth on the line — had no comment. "I don’t think that’s an appropriate question right now," he said as he sat next to his visibly more…

Gophers CB faces sex misconduct charges (AP)
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota cornerback Dominic Jones was charged Monday with third-degree criminal sexual conduct after investigators said they found cell phone video that showed him in a sex act with a woman who was “physically helpless.” Three other Gophers remain suspects in the case, which began in April after an 18-year-old woman said she had been raped at an apartment complex near campus. “The charges represent a significant next step in this case,” Hennepin County Attorney more…

Gophers’ O’Brien, incoming freshman White taken in first round (CSTV U-WIRE)
(CSTV U-WIRE) MINNEAPOLIS — The prestige of past NHL Entry Drafts wasn’t quite there for the Minnesota men’s hockey team last weekend, but that doesn’t mean the results weren’t equally frightening for its Western Collegiate Hockey Association foes. In fact, the group of current and future Gophers players snatched up in the 2007 draft in Columbus, Ohio, was just as gaudy as usual. Despite lacking the headliner draft picks of years past — especially last season’s crop, which included three more…

2007 Football Recruiting Roundup: Minnesota Gophers (Big 10)
Recruits You Care About:QB, Clint Brewster, Rivals 3-star, 2257 PaYD, 27 PaTDRB, Duane Bennett, Rivals 2-star, 2058 RuYD, 21 RuTD (2005)RB, Andre Tate', Rivals 3-starWR, Marc Cheatham, Rivals 2-starWR, Tray Herndon, Rivals 2-star, 1363 ReYD, 14 ReTDWR, Jimmy Thompson, Rivals 2-star, 1135 ReYDTE, Collin McGarry, Rivals 2-starATH, Harold Howell, Rivals 2-star We're sure this is just what Gopher fans wanted to see for their new QB-WR connection out of this recruiting class: a 12-year-old looking kid (Clint Brewster) to Mr. Hollywood (Jimmy Thompson). Fantasy College Impact: The Minnesota Gophers have a lot of rebuilding to do this year, and this recruiting class certainly didn't help much. The Gophers have to start by replacing Bryan Cupito (2556 PaYd, 19 PaTD, 8 PaINT) at QB. Spring practice didn't clear things up much as junior Tony Mortensen and redshirt freshman Adam Weber will battle it out through August. Weber provides a more mobile option, so we'll give him the nod on a hunc

Golden Gophers Win WCHA Title and a #1 seed
Much to my dismay the Minnesota Golden Gophers defeated the UND Fighting Sioux last night in Overtime. It was a really great game and Blake Wheeler's game-winning goal was a really great goal. Here is the game-winning goal from Saturday Night. I can't bear to watch...but you should! With the victory the Golden Gophers solidified a #1 seed in the NCAA Frozen Four Tournament, and the Fighting Sioux a 3-seed in the same region. Although my picks for the tournament don't come out until Tuesday I can tell you right now that there will most likely be a rematch, and it should be a dandy. Every time these two teams have played this year it has been a spectacular game and nearly a coin-flip. Look for the same. It really is a shame that they are in the same region, because it would be so much fun to see these two teams play in the Frozen Four or even in the Championship! The NCAA Frozen Four Tournament starts on 3/23.Stay tuned for my picks on 3/20. and.........GO SIOUX

      Gophers idle this weekend
The U of M men's hockey team is off this weekend, but not to worry folks, they will be back in action Feb. 16-17 when they take on Colorado College in Colorado Springs. The Gophers are currently in first place in the WCHA standings with a 15- 4- 3 record (23- 5- 3 overall) and a total of 33 points. They have a comfortable lead ahead of St. Cloud State (11- 5- 4, 17- 5- 4) and Denver (12- 8- 2, 20-10- 2) who are tied for second with 26 points each and CC (12- 7- 1, 16-10- 2) whose has 25 points. After this weekend there will only be three weeks of regular season left, so many teams will be fighting for those final spots to make it into the WCHA Final Five and maybe onto the Frozen Four. The Gophers will try and hold off SCSU and Denver to capture another conference championship and MacNaughton Cup for the second consecutive year. The three remaining weeks of the season might pose a challenge for the Gophers. CC always plays tough at home, SCSU will be a challeng
