Not too long ago did I learn about Google PR and Alexa and technorati ranks. I would have probably learned about to it 5 to 6 months ago. Though the Alexa and technorati ranks have amused me but not in the way that Google PR has, it has become a habit to check the PR of my blog site and all other sites that I visit. Well, I do not possess one anyway still I am not ready to give up. I have managed to get page ranks in various pages of my sites. :)
I was just wondering what would be the difference between a zero google PR on a page and an unranked page. Zero page rank means that the page has been evaluated by google and given a rank as zero while the unranked could mean that the page or the website might not have been evaluated yet for various reasons like the domain could be newly hosted, etc. I have a PR 0 in this website while many pages within this site has a PR of 1 based on the traffic to those pages. My new domain minimunch is unranked as it is a newly hosted domain. So when it gets ranked, I hope to see some PR there ;)

Been thinking about this whole PR thingy. For 7 years it made little difference to me until I went through my little 3 month experiment and suddenly Google cuts their PR in half. I say their because before a last month I paid little attention to the ‘6” they gave me.
I tend to agree with the pro bloggers that current voodoo silliness of this Google ranking system isn’t worth the hassle. If Google has a problem with me selling a link on my site and decides to lower my rank… tough sh*t. Maybe if Google ads paid worth a crap we wouldn’t turn to Text-Link-Ads.
Your stock is at $600 $700 so slapping bloggers around with the make believe PR doesn’t help if everyone starts dropping Google Ads from their sites. If all major & minor bloggers were to .ht* block the Google bots for months on end who does it hurt? Me? No, it hurts Google and the trust their built through the years with website owners and advertisers.

I guess I’m exposing my inner (and outer!) geek, but I just have to brag a little. This blog has finally received a Google Page Rank, which is a number from 1 to 10 that indicates how “popular” a web site is. The rankings depend on many things, like the number of “hits” a site gets, the number of other sites that link to it, the page rank of sites that link to it, and a whole lot of secret sauce.
Well, we just found out that SheltieTales has a Google Page Rank of 5! I’m amazed…and very pleased. One reason we might have such a high ranking so soon is that a good friend of mine put a link on his site to SheltieTales — and his site has a Page Rank of 9!!!

The most interesting explanation was the fact that Google had change is algorithm. The new beta algorithm penalized when you have put too much afford in seo optimization to get more traffic ( ahaha some people will understand that) Especially anchor text and text link. Or when you are using silly way to get more traffic…. ( think about what you did the last year)

After few weeks of blogging I have realized that driving traffic from forums and blog directories have some limit and also it takes lot of time. I went over to How I Save Money because I had not visited in a while, and noticed there was a post about Google Page Rank. I have not checked this site’s PageRank in a while to see if I had one, so I went to the instant pagerank checker. My PageRank was 4! I only thought I would get a rank of 3, but to my surprise, it was 4. Hopefully this will open up some more wallets when it comes to the sale of this domain/website.

As everyone whose been keeping an eyeball on it I’ve been doing really well I’m currently in the 84,000 and rising on technorati and 600,000 on Alexa in less then 2 weeks since trying to boost my Alexa!
