Google Image Optimization
Images can bring in a fair deal of traffic from Google Image Search, especially if you run a image heavy blog or wallpaper site. The following elements should be implemented when optimizing images for Google universal search:
Use descriptive file naming conventions. For example: <img src="http://www.dailymoolah.com/images/100-dollar-bill.jpg" />
Always define the content of an image by using the Alt attribute. For example: <img src=http://www.dailymoolah.com/"images/100-dollar-bill.jpg" alt="$100 Bill" />
Use the Title attribute. <img src=http://www.dailymoolah.com/"images/100-dollar-bill.jpg" alt="$100 Hunder Dollar Bill" title="$100 Hunder Dollar Bill" /
That’s it for today!

Google Blogoscoped discovered a neat little trick in the Google image search. If you add &imgtype=face to the end of your search your results will only be of people. I imagine soon enough you can show it a picture of a person and have Google search for all images of that person through it’s recognition software. Is Google moving in the right direction or are they getting a little bit creepy?

Google recently “dumbed down” the popular Google Image Search. It’s an obvious optimization for the average user, but the new UI is surely an annoyance for the average techie. (more…)
I thought I’d run a search for Wii Injuries and struck some interesting results. For some reason searching for “Wii Injuries” (which I’m now thinking could have resulted in some pretty disturbing stuff) yielded *almost* no Nintendo related results. In fact, the top two were actually animal injuries while the third and fourth were Marvel heroes The Black Widow and Corsair.

Many people hate the new design of Google Image Search and want the old one back. It's pretty easy to do that, as Google shows the classic design if you disable JavaScript. But here's a way to disable JavaScript only for Google Image Search.FirefoxGo to your Firefox profile. For Windows XP, go to Start/Run and type:%appdata%/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/Then click on your profile's folder and open user.js in Notepad (if you can't find it, create a blank text file named user.js). Add these lines at the end of the file:user_pref("capability.policy.policynames", "nojs");user_pref("capability.policy.nojs.sites", "http://images.google.com");user_pref("capability.policy.nojs.javascript.enabled", "noAccess");You should replace images.google.com with your localized version (for example: images.google.co.uk).Then restart Firefox.OperaIf you use Opera 9 and you want to return to the old design:* go to Google Images* right-click and select "Edit site preferences"* go to the Scripting tab* uncheck
