As soon as we received today's amazing, fantastic, historic, world-changing California marriage ruling, we knew Golden State anti-gay activist Randy Thomasson would soon be bringing out one of his most histrionic attacks to date. But we must say -- calling...
The Future Of The Iphone As A Gaming Platform

Gamers have devoted countless years of collective brainpower to rescuing princesses or protecting the planet against alien invasions. This week researchers at the University of Washington will try to harness those finely honed skills to make medical discoveries, perhaps even finding a cure for HIV. A new game, named Foldit, turns protein folding into a competitive sport. Introductory levels teach the rules, which are the same laws of physics by which protein strands curl and twist into three-dimensional shapes – key for biological mysteries ranging from Alzheimer's to vaccines. After about 20 minutes of training, people feel like they're playing a video game but are actually mouse-clicking in the name of medical science. The free program is at The game was developed by doctoral student
Good early morning.... I wasn't going to write much today, because my mind is on that piece of junk car of mine and other stuff, but I'm getting to the point of, I can't take it anymore! When will the media just stop talking about the stupid Rev. Wright story!?! I mean, seriously people! Even Newt Gingrich said to stop:The Anti-Obama, Anti-Wright, and Anti-Clinton GOP Model Has Been Tested -- And It FailedThe Republican brand has been so badly damaged that if Republicans try to run an anti-Obama, anti- Reverend Wright, or (if Senator Clinton wins), anti-Clinton campaign, they are simply going to fail. This model has already been tested with disastrous results. In 2006, there were six incumbent Republican Senators who had plenty of money, the advantage of incumbency, and traditionally success
Received two intriguing emails from eBay this evening. The first isn’t nearly as exciting as eBay seems to think it is, but I figured I’d still pass on the info. The second will likely be of little use, but is mucho exciting so I’m sharing it as well.
The first email trumpeted in [...]
When my mother died when I was 9 months old, God was good.
As I watched other girls celebrate Mother’s Day with their moms, God was good.
When my girls were born, God was good.
And today as they wrapped their arms around me and whispered, “Happy Mother’s Day, Mommy”
God. Was. Good.
(Yes I realize that Mother’s day isn’t until Sunday, but my girls don’t seem to know that. And I don’t mind at all… )

"I believe the world to be a muffin pan, and there certainly are a lot of muffins here."Aaron Funk Mocha Walnut Chocolate-chip Muffins...When I read about theSnackshots #3 event hosted by Michelle @ Greedy Gourmet , I was thrilled. Opportunity to try these mocha muffins I had bookmarked long ago, & soon. Michelle asks "What’s the difference between a muffin and cupcake? ...A muffin contains less sugar and doesn’t have icing on top, in other words it’s healthier. " My choice of muffin is deep, dark, decadent & chocolaty; the flavours enhanced with the addition of coffee. Am still trying to place the source on the net; I know I wanted to try these because they used oil instead of butter & were literally popping out of the screen!! They didn't disappoint at all; lovely choc
London's creepy commie mayor, Red Ken Livingstone, has thankfully been voted out of office (Hat tip: Michelle Malkin). His successor is Boris Johnson.
It's fortunate, because this awful, disgusting man has embraced the PLO, Chavez, the Islamofascists of London and just about any other fascist/communist entity possible. I don't know if Johnson is any better, but that Livingstone is out of office
One night as I was browsing through my internet browser, mind you I use Mozilla Firefox since the Internet Explorer sucks big time with recent updates, I was buzzed through the Yahoo! Messenger by one of my old friends from MJSC and it's been quite a long time since I last talked with him. Not going to miss this golden chance, I quickly seized it. It was good to get the chance to chat with your friends, especially the ones that you had been lost contact with. We reminisce the old days on how hard it was to get up for the Subuh Prayers despite the loud banging of doors made from the student and teachers like. Anyway, this particular friend of mine had enrolled to the MSU, Management and Science University in Malaysia, a private university.I don't really get it how people would go into priva
OCZ Quad 2Gb Memory Kit Review - 8Gb of Platinum Goodness
With the introduction of Vista, 2 GB of memory suddenly seems insufficient. Many people have made the jump to 4 GB lately, but on a 32Bit operating system, more is definitely overkill. Today we happen to have a 64 bit operating system installed on our [...]
I don’t know why, but I’ve been fairly lucky when it comes to finding G.I. Joe figures in stores. I recently spotted a few figures from wave 7 that I’ve been wanting for awhile. I swear the Wal-Mart that’s only a few blocks for me his horrendous for Star Wars figures, but has been pretty [...]
When alumni of Hudson Catholic High School got together last week to discuss the possibility of saving the school, many were pleased when they were told by archdiocesan officials they’d have three weeks to come up with a substantial amount of pledged money to keep the place open. But, according to today’s Jersey Journal, apparently in the eyes of the Archdiocese of Newark, three weeks actually translates into two weeks and two days. The Journal reports alumni received a note from the archdiocese setting a fundraising deadline of May 7. Do the math, and May 7 is two weeks, two days after the so-called three-week deadline. What this writer is trying to decide is whether the two-week, two day deadline rather than a three-week deadline is more insulting, or whether James Goodness, archdioces
This is a story about Mr. / Mrs. / Ms. / Mdm. Yoghurt (did i missed anyone?)....and so the story goes like this...Yoghurt is formed by the bacterial fermentation of milk. It can be made from any milk, but cows milk is usually used. Bacteria cause the sugar in the milk to ferment, that produces lactic acid. This then reacts with the protein in the milk to form yoghurt.Other Details:Yoghurt is a
Huuu..... I'm ready to pengsan. *flops over keyboard*Went grocery-shopping yesterday morning. Was a bit reluctant to leave home because there were still more than half of Pharmaceutics notes to go through and memorise. T-T But seeing that I need to stock up on fresh produce, I terpaksa lah go.So, for lunch today, I made pasta with Campbell's canned mushroom soup. :) I bought a bottle of mixed Italian herbs a few weeks ago. The herbs do spice things up and make them more flavourful, especially pasta dishes.{Must put lots of cheddar cheese. Lots.}And then I tried baking a yoghurt cake. Tak jadi la.... The top burnt to charcoal and the inside not quite done. T-T Now I know, toaster ovens are not meant for baking cakes. T-T I thought can bake things, because I successfully made apple crumble w
On the joyous occasion of my overcoming a dire case of writer's block, I find I have about 50 things I want to post about today. Alas, I fear I've lost many potential posts that could have been written in the past few weeks. But a commenter in my previous post suggested a good dose of "Anonymous Comment Day" to get the party started again and I whole heartedly agree that a little vent session could be in order. I'll kick it off with my anonymous comment:This is not Hollywood. This is an anonymous, genderless, typist located somewhere obscure on the planet earth.I HATE when the cashiers at the grocery store ask me to donate money to causes. There I am, spending $6 on a tub of Moose Tracks ice cream, and they ask with a look of concern if I'd like to make a small donation to help childr

We were not among the critics who recently took offense to Tyler Perry’s frocked-out “minstrelsy” antics in Meet the Browns, but we are more than a little beside ourselves with today’s news that Perry has cast Keshia Knight Pulliam — best known as the youngest Huxtable child, Rudy, on The Cosby Show — as an [...]
I have been fascinated with “goodness” from a young age.
My younger days: 5 - 13 years
My younger days (pre- to early-teens) were concerned with how goodness was necessary to ensure one didn’t go to hell. I remember taking a boat ride through “hell” at the now defunct Haw Par Villa — a Buddhist/Toaist/Chinese-based themepark [...]
The Devils are alive after a 4-3 overtime win against the Rangers.John Madden banked the puck off a Ranger's skate nearly from behind the net. If Madden intentionally did what he did — he's a genius. If it was simply by chance, I'll still take it.Honestly, I didn't expect it would happen. But it did. And now, the "road" team has won all three games of the series. It's on to Game 4 Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.Excuse me for dropping my pessimism, if even just for a night. Here, now, are highlights from the game.
Seems the Jonas Brothers must KNOW by now that they have made it because they landed the OPRAH show! Yep, the JoBro's will be in Oprah for a super cool family segment where they get to talk all things family with Oprah AND will be performing 'When You Look Me In The Eyes". I can hear the screams of teenage girls across America as this airs tomorrow. Thanks to the power of home camera's and YouTube we have video from backstage with the Jonas Brothers. Ladies please don't scream or claw at your computer monitors. We wouldn't want any unnecessary accidents in the name of Jonas Brothers. You don't want to to make a Jonas cry. Enjoy!!

Where were you on July 17, 1955? Me, I wasn’t even a gleam in my then seven-year old mother’s eye. But if I were to somehow be transported back in time there is only one place I would have wanted to be on that fateful day. For that was the day that [...]

I’m a big fan of Dune. I’m not just a little fan. I’ve got a huge veiny nerd-on for Dune. Not the book, but the David Lynch mega bomb of the nineteen eighties featuring both Kyle MacLachlan in one of his greatest roles (although it is hard to beat Agent Cooper from Twin Peaks) and [...]
Oh its times like this I am sooooo glad I am a girl. We really do get the best clothing options and the prettiest goodies. We get cute hats, coats, and get to wear dresses and skirts. We get the high heels and can wear boy's clothes but they can't wear ours. AND we get to wear super hot jewelry like this...BAMBOO EARRINGS!!Now I know you ladies have some crazy fascination with these earrings. They have been selling off the hook ever since we got them in stock and we just got a fat re-order of them in our stores because we know what you like. Why do you like them so much? Well at first I was baffled but then Isaw them on Beyonce and Rihanna Christina Aguilera and even Kimora Lee Simmons. No wonder you ladies love them. They are the new IT earring. Need something super hot to tease the boys
Today's Scripture “You crown the year with Your bounty and goodness…” (Psalm 65:11, AMP) Today's Word from Joel and Victoria The Lord has crowned your year with bounty and goodness! That means there is an abundant supply for whatever you may need in life—spiritually, physically, emotionally and financially. And God has set up a system so that you can access His blessings. It’s the system of seedtime and harvest. If you have a need in your life, sow a seed. If you need friends, sow a seed by being a friend to someone. If you have a financial need, pray and ask the Lord where you should sow a financial seed. The Bible says to give and it shall be given unto you, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. That’s God crowning your year with bounty and goodness. Do you need m
Source: Bollywood NewsSubhash Ghai, the Masterstroke filmmaker, has always lived up to the label of being a 'Showman'. A sample of his films like Karma, Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak etc…serve as an exemplary case-study to (t)his title. Apart from the fact that all his films boast of a mega star cast and the fact that most of them are super-hits, yet another common factor binds them all together. And that happens to be the 'Theme' of his films, which brings out the real essence of his films (or should we say the real essence of Mukta Arts- his famous production company). The theme of his films happen to be 'The win of goodness over evil', something that is touched upon yet again in his latest venture Black and Whitewhich released last Friday (Mar 7). An optimistic-driven Ghai justifies "I don't

Ever notice how the best American-owned hotels are located in Asia? I had written about the Grand Hyatt in Beijing and the Sheraton in Ho Chi Minh City, both far more luxurious and larger than hotels in the USA. During this trip to Bangkok I stayed at the Conrad Bangkok Hotel located in the heart of the embassy area in Bangkok. A Mercedes Benz S-Class - gleaming with polished wood and leather - drove me from the airport to the hotel. The girl from the front-desk was waiting for me at the door and within seconds I was whisked away directly to my room where she completed the check-in formalities.Wonders! I had been upgraded to their Executive Suite. And what an opulent hotel room that was. A large living area, a large bedroom and a large bathroom with a free-standing tub and a shower stall.

Oh Maxwell Smart. You fumbled your way into our hearts in the 60's and brought unintentional victory to Control all those years ago. Chaos never had a chance. Fast forward to the year 2008. Of all the remakes and all the dames and all the dudes in the world in the world they chose Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway for this remake....and it looks like they got it right! The original cast will not be turning over in their proverbial graves thanks to ingenuity and good casting agents. Steve Carell has by far surpassed Will Ferrell in my funny bone as of late and Anne Hathaway is great at playing the straight man/girl. This looks to really be a break out, funny as hell film! Who's with me? Below I offer up both the American and the International releases of the trailers for the new "Get Sma
I simply adore Kristin Bell. I loved Veronica Mars and was rather upset when she disappeared before my eyes and ended a little too early for my taste. Then she was being evil on Heroes and my Kristin Bell needs were fulfilled again. Alas, the writer's strike really took a bite out of TV and actresses careers and sadly, Kristin went away. Now we find ourselves obsessed with Gossip Girl and thankfully our favorite little snarky blond is back and has joined the ranks of this show. Now we find her on Denimology, out and about on a well-earned shopping spree looking for, my favorite denim, True Religion's!In fact she is shopping around in, what appears to be, her very own Lexi Low Rise Boot Cut True Religion's.The woman knows what she likes. This just goes to prove my point that not only is Kr
Having a child with food allergies, or having food allergies yourself, is never easy. In fact, it's expensive, frustrating, and sometimes it's a downright pain in the butt. When my son was diagnosed allergic to dairy, I went through a wide range of emotions as well as months of financial hardship. I was suddenly able to understand why some people chose to expose themselves or their children to their allergen providing of course, that the allergy wasn't life-threatening. Often times, if an allergy isn't life threatening, it is still serious, and still requires that you take care with what products you consume. My son is dairy allergic and there are so many things we would normally just buy, that now require us to read the label or call the company. Many hot dogs, for instance, contain milk as
When we were out in Ohio for a family birthday last weekend, the girls had one request: they wanted to go thrifting. So off we went, and I managed to restrain myself for the most part. However, this coat was perfect: vintage, lovely shape, good condition, and sealskin collar and cuffs. But the best part was the price: $8. Considering that my current black coat is nearly worn to shreds, there was no way I could NOT get it. In this shot you can see a little more detail on the collar and buttons (they're crocheted!) but we took it because we were both wearing our "breakfast at Tiffany's" coats. That's what L calls hers, and she's wearing one at 14. All I can say is: she'll have an AMAZING vintage wardrobe by the time she's my age.
Some people call this Thursday Valentine's Day, but I think a better name for it should be "Thank Goodness My Wife Loves Me" Day! Between me and the kids, she has got her hands full for a very long time. I'm thankful that she not only puts up with us - she actually loves spending time with us!Here's some things that I really appreciate about my wife Lori (other than she loves me):1. She loves my daughter Chani like she was her own. Lori is an outstanding stepmom, kind of like Julia Roberts in that movie the Stepmom. Her family has also treated Chani like the first grandchild or niece of the family too! It's really amazing.2. She completes me (stop laughing right now). Lori and I are similar in some very important ways (drive, determination, clean freaks), but we are also extremely
This Christmas was a very electric Christmas, necessitating the purchase of several sets of rechargeable batteries to keep the new favorite playthings going. Bear got a remote control 'Mater, Bug got a doll that does just about everything and even little L. E. Fant got a talking puppy dog. Only Mouse received something 100% fueled by imagination: an art set with an easel. The grandparents, who were responsible for all the new favorite possessions , were pleased. Our electric bill? Not so.Bug is quite the attentive mom. She sits by me and cares for this little baby as if it were, well, a baby. She even nurses her.But check out the bag. That is no store bought diaper bag. That is a genuine, mom-made present, crocheted on the couch while holding a sick infant. And Bug did not leave my si

Grandma's rock hard fruitcake... holiday sweatshirts weighed down with twenty-pounds of frolicking snowpersons in puff paint, ribbons and lace... ponies that bite...The Christmas season brings with it the gift of family and friends-- and just a few less desirable elements, as well.I mean, how many of you ever received something from a friend or relative that you just KNOW was sitting around their house for 20 years?Since it really IS the thought that counts, then that thought probably shouldn't be, "Hey, this string-and-nail art at the back of the closet isn't doing me any good. If I dust it off, who can I pawn it off on?"...Just sayin'.So when I suggest it's possible to find great Christmas gifts for the people on your list at thrift stores, I'm not suggesting you grab the first big-eyed-

After months of legal negotiations and a spate of national media attention, the families of five Redwood Middle School students and the Napa Valley Unified School District reached a settlement Friday over claims that the school's no-logos, no-denim dress code violated students' constitutional rights. The suit is best known because then-middle schooler Toni Kay Scott, one of the plaintiffs represented by the American Civil Liberties Union in the case, was removed from class for wearing socks with the Winnie the Pooh character Tigger. Her sister, Sydni, was reprimanded for wearing a shirt that read, "Jesus Freak"Under the settlement agreement, the district will not prohibit lettering or pictures unless allowed by the state education code, which protects the free speech rights of students in California's public schools.Future dress codes at Redwood Middle School that limit colors, fabrics or patterns must be implemented as part of a school uniform that allows parents to opt out.T
Gumbo GoodnessI am recuperating today from our holiday party last night. Lots of great friends joined us for a fun time. There is nothing better than a spicy gumbo to warm up on an icy night like the one last evening. It feel a bit decadent when making this recipe for such a crowd – so I couldn’t help but take some photos of the beautiful ingredients before the were added to the pot. Here is my little helper– pulling the tails off of the many shrimp. I always make too much – and promise myself that I won’t do it again the next year. Somehow I end up with the same amount each time. This year there was less left over due to some fine eating – thanks to all who took the pot down to 1/4 full!!(I make about 6 gallons in all – 5 with the kielbasa – and 1 gallon with only sea
Do you love bacon? Well, one of the folks over at the Good Eats Message Board found someone who might like bacon even a bit more than you do...Starting with breakfast, this connoisseur of the cured porcine product has found heart-stopping ways to enjoy bacon in sandwiches and in burgers. I can't wait for his next bacony creation.
Psalm 33: 1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. 2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. 3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. 4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. 5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
I read the above passage in my “quiet time” today, while the kids were playing at the park. Today was a very gorgeous, unseasonably warm day, and the kids and I took “full advantage” after their
Nothing says Christmas like baking cookies to give to friends and then eating them yourself. Val baked some incredible! walnut praline shortbread cookies for the folks where I work. Unfortunately, Val’s down with a nasty virus and those cookies will *gasp* need to be eaten or they’ll become stale. Right? I mean… while my wife’s upstairs sick in bed, I have to keep up with kitchen messes and those cookies… well… they just needed to go. So, I stopped typing, went downstairs to the kitchen and grabbed the cannister. Then I ate them. Two dozen of the little suckers. Nice. Once the sugar rush wears off, I’ll be able to post more intelligently.
Good news is this: before Val went down for the count, she joined baking911.com. Paid the premium, ladies and gentlemen. Which means what? Bigger better baked bonuses for me! She keeps saying she wants to make a burnt sugar cake or something like that.

A thief in Ireland has taken shoplifting beer to new heights.A man simply drove a truck through the gates of the Guinness brewery in Dublin on Wednesday and hitched up a trailer with 450 kegs, then drove away before security staff realized what happened. The theft was captured by security cameras. Police believe the thief counted on going undetected in the bustling loading dock area of the St. James's Gate Brewery complex, which is even busier this time of year as the brewery works to fill holiday orders.Police say the trailer had 180 kegs of Guinness, 180 kegs of Budweiser and 90 kegs of Carlsberg on board, worth more than $94,000. The vehicle, the driver and the beer are still missing.
Well, that was my first reaction when I read David Rothman's headline - E-books will take off only when they’re free, says New York Times’ Futurist in Residence - in TeleRead. And what is a Futurist-in-Residence? The picture of Michael Rogers in TeleRead suggested we do not take this Eric Morecambe-like figure with his suit collar turned up in a rakish way very seriously, but this was quickly dispelled by his home page which describes him as: One of the nation's leading experts on the impact of technology on business and society, he is Futurist-in-Residence for The New York Times Company, as well an interactive media pioneer, novelist and journalist. (Jacket collar firmly down!) But - following on so soon from my last post, I was still irritated at the quote - just one of nine predictions in a Sky news report - until I read The TeleRead take: Ad-supported books would be helpful, given many surfers’ identification of E with “free.” It's not the wrong prognosis, it's the r
By: Cade Free online games are becoming hugely popular due to several reasons. Though some games are surely addictive, but goodness far outweighs the negatives. The popularity of online games is outgrowing day by day because games are a good way to pass away a few spare moments while at your computer. Traditionally online games was played by men the most spending hours on the computer with joystick in hand, aiming to conquer whatever enemy the game can throw at him. Recently there has been a paradigm shift in the world of online games where women are the frequent visitors making the gaming web sites popular. Survey says that women spend 50% more time playing online games than men. Popularity depends on the value. Online games have some value stored for users as they benefit the user in many different ways and this enhances the popularity of the games. Among the different benefits that we receive playing online games are:1. First and foremost it helps to kill boredom same as the televis
Lee Odden shows that there is a “method to the madness” of Twitter when it comes to marketing and PR. He also includes a great list of other posts about tools and tricks of Twitter, and some quick tips for users.
James Cherkoff at Modern Marketing writes that marketing is no longer in the hands of marketers, and that social media and networking have taken messaging and put it into the hands of citizen marketers. Great marketing and a good story can be quickly squashed by a simple Google search and some bad reviews. Official branding is no more, and there is indeed a loss of control of the message.
Another example of branding and customer loyalty comes from Eli Portnoy at The Brand Man. He posts about Starbucks and their recent decline in revenue (and consequential advertising boost), and whether or not that is indicative of their overall struggle to maintain their brand, or if it’s just the way the market is trending? In order for Starbucks to stay ahead of the compet

Toby Bloomberg summarizes the risks and concerns that many companies feel when adopting social media, and how we as consultants can answer questions and ease those fears.
Scott Monty of the Social Media Marketing Blog asks marketers how they know when an online relationship is authentic. He states that businesses and brands need to be seen as "real" and authentic, yet there are still many marketers out there who don’t get it and are searching for ways to "teach" authenticity. This is not the answer.
Marc Andreessen has been busy the past couple weeks with the launch of OpenSocial. Here he summarizes his posts on the launch, its concept, the technical aspect, and what it means to developers and users.
Glenn Gow discusses the questions behind Facebook’s advertising initiatives. He asks what the value to the member is in advertising for someone, and what the value to other users is who view advertising posted by members.

Three more iPhones arrived at the office this morning. I know this looks like unshameful startup spending but it’s not. We’ve been spending money (lots of money) on long distance calls between Fairfield and the West Coast and with AT&Ts mobile to mobile free calling plan we can pay for the new iPhones with our long distance savings in a month’s time (actually in about 3 weeks time going by our last bill).
We’ve also been dragging our feet to install a full fledged phone system with handsets on each desk, multiple extensions and conference calling. But the iPhone’s conference calling is pretty slick and again, we save the cost of installing an office phone system.
But wait there’s more!
ScribeStorm’s email is hosted by Google Apps, which means we’re on the Gmail platform (no Outlook server for us), and gmail on the iPhone is a treat to use. Now we all have one number to reach us at our desk or on the move, and it’s a cool

I told you earlier in the year about my “Carolina Girls” beach trip. Well what I didn’t tell you is how I received what I needed to take the trip.
For years now this group of women, I have known ten years +, has been saying we needed to take a girls trip. Finally, one said this year we are doing it. She planned it, and invited the guests. In the planning she asked us if we knew of any places to stay, so I called one of my husband’s family members to see if we could rent their beach house. The first miracle is that the week they had available worked out for all 5 of our schedules! The rental for the house was well phenomenal, it was a tenth of what any other place we could have rented would have been.
So we set the date and made the plan. I tr

I apologize for not blogging yesterday, there was miscommunication and it did not get published. This was yesterday’s post:

As Thanksgiving is approaching, only two weeks from this Thursday, I have chosen to dedicate the next few Mondays to make known what God has done for me this year. I hope that it encourages you, and reminds you of God’s Faithfulness. Most importantly, however, I also hope that as you read it sparks the memories of what God has done for you this year. Every small and large thing He has blessed you with.
Last week I shared about my “High School Musical Miracle”. This week I am going to continue sharing about the details God is into:
My daughter is 6 years old. Six years ago, my husband and I decided that we wanted our daughter in private schools. Ben had always attended private schools, and wanted the same for his daughters. Three years
The Wikinomics blog is always full of interesting information, but this piece on Japan’s fading interest in PC’s caught my eye. It used to be that a PC was the only way to access the internet, but now with mobile phone access and even video game consoles that can access the internet, the PC seems to be losing steam. In Japan, over 50% of users access the internet using a mobile device.
As social media professionals, we are usually evangelizing how to engage in the conversation. However, Rohit Bhargava shows us how to effectively stay out of unwanted conversation, or "spamversation". He provides five methods of dealing with unwanted conversations, and is open to accepting more.
What’s so great about the evolution of PR? Is it really that new? Constantin Basturea argues that no, it’s not. In fact, the conversation is just another way for professionals to redefine their role in a way that best serves their clients and other audiences.

Last week was the International PRSA conference, and social media was the hot topic on everyone’s minds. Kami Huyse took the opportunity to round up a discussion by Kristian Darigan on how cause marketing can benefit both private companies and non-profits. Many large companies have a global reach that can really make an impact for a cause.
A topic that continues to cause conflict among PR and social media professionals is that of how to pitch to bloggers. Marshall Kirkpatrick gives examples of a few bad pitches he has received, and some helpful advice to avoid inclusion in such a list.
The tragedy of the fires in California last week also provided an excellent example of where social media can excel in a crisis. GigaOM summarizes the use of Twitter to provide quick updates for the LAFD.
Blogworks shows that corporate blogging is far from “dead”, and that the purpose of a blog is to “evangelize and put a face on a corporation and listen to customers”. This

The blogosphere has been abuzz the past week with many posts about the future of PR, the press release, the social media release, and overall relationships between clients, agencies, and each other.
Social media’s impact is evidenced here in the Guardian Unlimited, showing that with the boom in MySpace and Facebook popularity, PR firms have nothing but growth to report. “Social networking is really recommendation between people about the things that they are interested in and they like… this has stimulated people’s attention in terms of the importance of PR.”
However, is that really the relationship between PR and social networking? I think not. And neither does PR Disasters.com, who reviews the article further here.
Scobleizer wonders where Forrester got its Twitter data? A report claiming that 6% of American adults are using Twitter, leaves a bad taste in Robert’s mouth. However, the numbers are broken down and explained here, stating that the num

“Public relations is at a crossroads,” declares Jeremy Pepper at POP! PR Jots. With the backup of PR heavy-hitters Jack O’Dwyer and Richard Edelman and balanced by the boutique voives of Matthew Podboy of Voce Communications, Jonathan Zaleski of The PR Collective and Ben Silverman of PR Fuel; Jeremy and other industry leaders examine what exactly is in store for the profession of public relations.
Does the global reach and name brand appeal of larger multinational agencies work for or against the reputation of public relations practitioners? Or is the real hidden gem of PR in the creativity and excitement of the smaller shops, who are able to be less bureaucratic in their rules and regulations about billing, budgets and defining ROI measurement.
In considering how public relations is evolving, PR Squared examines the lifecycle of a social media news release (SMNR). Through a short note to a well known “marketing guru”, SHIFT Communications was able to secu
For all of the excitement and “buzz” about social media, there are plenty of people who think that there’s more to it than waxing poetic. Jeremiah Owyang examines some of the pros and cons of various components of the Web 2.0 craze, including blogging. The idea that “blogs are only as authentic as the humans behind them” is certainly important to note. When people are given the opportunity to participate in the conversation and be interactive, does it add or detract from the authenticity of reporting the facts or debate?
A great example of a positive use of corporate messaging for corporate blogs is highlighted by the controversy with Toyota and GM over an op-ed in the New York Times last week. Toyota’s dedication to fuel-friendly and environmentally efficient cars has been challenged by its decision to work with the Big Three U.S. automakers (GM) in lobbying against the tougher mileage standards in the Senate’s draft energy bill. Irv Miller,
Rajesh Lalwani blogs about the evolution of the PR agency, and the trends that are influencing change. Domains and verticals are continuing to grow and shift, and social media has of course changed the way we all interact with each other. Through that, technology will also continue to change and play a role in how we communicate, which means that agencies have to constantly be up to date in the latest and greatest technology to stay on top.
Blogging and social networking are all the rage, but how do you draw the line between business and personal blogging? Should there be a line? Trak.in discusses the distinct differences between the two.
Our good friend, Brian Solis examines the press release, and what the future may hold for it. It’s not just an issue of “Social Media Releases” or even SEO, it’s more a question of going back to basics, and the more important question of what makes a press release worthy.
With the inclusion of social media, media and journalism
Ever wish you could have sweet succulent corn on the cob year round? Well you can! Corn "off" the cob, anyway! It tastes so good and is so much better for you, but it's such a hassle! Wrong!! Below are simple steps to help you prepare and freeze your corn for year round goodness!Step One: Buying the cornI always wait and buy my corn in late August or early September, that has given the corn a full growing season which provides the most sweetness! Visit your local farmers market and and purchase a burlap bag of corn, a bag will usually contain about 60 ears, which will provide you will enough corn for about 30 freezer bags.Step Two: Husk the CornYou must remove all of the corn casing and corn silk. I usually have the kids (or my husband) help with this part, they absolutely love it!Step Three: Blanche the cornBring a large pot (I use my turkey roaster, it covers two burners, so it gets hot faster and I can fit more ears of corn in it than a large pot) of water to a rolling boil, then a
It is official, Justin Timberlake loves his Future Sex/Love Sounds. He is set to release “Until The End Of Time” as Future Sex/Love Sounds‘ 6th single in just a little over a year. Don’t get me wrong, Future Sex/Love Sounds was one of the best pop albums in a really, really long time and its tight packed with amazing songs — no doubt about that. Even the ballads aren’t half bad. Justin Timberlake suits up with Beyonce on this remix (more like re-recording) of “Until The End Of Time” and might actually be called an R&B artist. The song is not too different compared to the album version, but Beyonce might add that edge Justin needs to take over the R&B audience… but even that’s debatable. Songs like “My Love” and “What Goes Around…/…Comes Around” has made him acceptable almost everywhere.

Yesterday on Now Is Gone, we discussed ROI and the need to measure success in corporate social media. The bottom line: Participation principles are the rules of engagement. Return on investment (ROI) is the raison d’etre for organizational social media.
In the the new world of conversation, negative comments are a reality. A lot of negative comments probably means it’s time for an internal gut check, but every persona and organization who has been blogging for a while has gotten a little egg in their face. That’s where online reputation management steps in. Here are some tips from the Online Reputation Management blog on how to combat that wayward comment.

I'm very thankful that Clayton enjoys a variety of vegetable and fruits with a particular liking for mushrooms, jackfruit and rambutans! We eat alot of shitake mushrooms in the house as it is known to contain vitamin B12 and anti-carcinogenic compound. The Japanese eats alot of them and actually Shitake mushroom can be versatile in cooking as compared to other kinds of mushrooms. it is a nice ingredient for steamboat, barbeque, pizza topping, stir fries...etc. Some people eat them raw but I find it a little bland and uninteresting :) Shitake mushroom is also a rich source of friendly bacteria and it contains antiseptic and anti viral properties.
A simple but ingeneous idea came to two ladies back in 2005, who are eco gurus. They created a site where one can sign-up to receive a daily email with one great eco tip, called Ideal Bite.
Jennifer and Heather are natural living advocates and produce daily email eco tips for those who are seeking to live green lightly. Their tips are simple and include everything from local food usage to what’s the deal with organic produce, from conservation to solar energy and everything in between. Kind of like what we do here at Keetsa, but in email form.
Their motto:“Ideal Bite is a sassier shade of green”.

Very rarely do we give A-List link-love on Blogs of Fire. This is that rare occasion. Copyblogger posed a great question on Tuesday. Do we really want transparency and authenticity? Or do we quietly want to be lied to? You’ve got to like the tough questions.
Scatterbox highlights how the Michael Vick incident has caused the Greyhound Track Operators Association to get active on pro dog racing PR. “Dogs bred solely to race around a track for the benefit of gamblers are no more ‘athletes’ than deer in the woods are ‘hunting partners.’ The greyhound racing industry?s critics ? and there are millions ? don?t buy it, either.” Amen, Steven.

Jeremiah Owyang gave a virtual tour de force last week with his new monthly, “Digest of the Social Networking Space.” This piece sums up all of the many trends over the past month, including Facebook’s growth, corporate adoption of social media (Wal-mart’s Facebook app.), and the mobile necessity of social media apps.
Here’s some choice advice for cos,”Some of these companies not to be around in 5 years, there will be a shake-out, acquisitions, and fall-offs.” If you haven’t read Jeremiah yet, this is a great way to get introduced to a master.
It’s good to read a variety of blogs. Telecommunities Ian Martinez noted Barach Obama’s incredible social media campaign yesterday. This is powerful:
5,000 groups have been created through the networking website and about 15,000 are blogging. “This technology allows people to participate in the process who didn’t have a chance before even if candidates wanted them to,&rdquo
Thanks for the fan art! Thanks to everyone who has been coming to this blog and thanks Tobias Buckell for actually paying attention to all the times your name pops up on the net and dropping by to leave a comment. That was really cool. And yes I will continue to listen to your Podcast sessions! Now for some other stuff here. I've had a lot of thoughts going through my head lately about this blog and about WISB. One of my thoughts involves this newfangled thing called Podcasting. TW has been putting together a Podcast for the site. I don't know why they thought of doing this, but more power to them. The idea got me thinking about Podcasts and I started Googling them. I had already heard of I Should Be Writing and The Survival Guide to Writing Fantasy (which I am listening to now and catching up on), and happened to find this one I previously mentioned called Adventures in Sci Fi Publishing. I thought for a moment that Podcasts were just these dorky things that idiots did that d

Our first three Blogs of Fire entries demonstrate that the corporate world still has a long, long way to go when it comes to embracing social media. Bite Marks dished up some mouth watering fodder last week. Apparently the Canadian Broadcasting Company likes to control the message still, restricting employees from blogging without supervisor permission. One employee’s response, “now, if you do [write a truly transparent blog], you apparently fall within the scope of this document.”
Let’s get global. India PR points out an ominous Gartner warning on Second Life. “Despite recent publicity about companies staking out territory in Second Life and other virtual worlds, companies that want to protect their brands or reputations should be cautious about operating on such Web sites, research firm Gartner Inc. warned Thursday.” Full story is available at PC World.

Can you imagine watching Harry Potter or Jenna Jameson on a 200-million pixel, 23-by-9-foot monitor wall? Personally I’d rather watch Jenna, but then again, at that resolution, maybe I’d spend too much time looking at her moles and other imperfections and it wouldn’t be so much...

I've been wondering if Resident evil 2 scenarios would make it into Umbrella chronicles for some time, because we've been been shown no signs of 'em what-so-ever. Capcom have released a new batch of screenshots which show the Raccon city police station where RE2 took place, but they're hardly confirmation by a long shot because: [a] They do not show Leon and Claire and [b] Jill visits the Police station in Resident evil 3.I really do hope the Resident evil 2 scenarios make it into the game. It'd be silly to have 0, 1 and 3, but not 2. Given Resident evil 4's major success I think fans of the game who've yet to play the second game would like to see in short how Leon's adventure originally kicked off. Though I'd reccommend actually playing Resident evil 2, as the game is just awesome and probably the biggest Resident evil game to date. It still ranks as one of my fave Resident evil games.I'm still not 100% sold on Umbrella chronicles, but those who played the game at e3 said i

BB: How was BlogHer in Chicago? What do conferences like BlogHER offer you and other attendees?
SG: BlogHer was great. As it always is. Quite frankly, I think BlogHer is a pretty unique conference, and not just because of the female to male ratio. Unlike many conferences, there is a really active community year round on blogher.org.
The organizers also strive to provide different voices and different sessions than you will get at a typical industry conference
I love me some zombie movies. I’m not a horror movie mega fan or anything like that, I enjoy a good one every now and then, but when something comes out that has zombies in it I’ll purchase it immediately. I own a copy of the Zombie Survival Guide as well as it’s “sequel” World War Z. I own zombie action figures. Yes, I’m a zombie geek.
So while everyone’s going crazy for Halo 3, Grand Theft Auto IV, Guitar Hero 3, Super Mario Galaxy and whatever else is upcoming, I’m trembling in anticipation for Left 4 Dead. Unfortunately delayed until next year, Left 4 Dead promises everything I’ve wanted in a zombie dream game. Lots of gore, lots of guns, tons of undead ganging up on you and groups to survive the onslaught with. If you haven’t seen the trailers and videos floating around on Gamespot, GameTrailers or Youtube, get searching now.
Even better, news is coming out now of another zombie game, also for the X-Box 360 and PC
“The word 'good' has many meanings. For example, if a man were to shoot his grandmother at a range of five hundred yards, I should call him a good shot, but not necessarily a good man.”

Another week, and there are new hot posts in the blogosphere to discuss. Let’s get it going!
Todd Vanhoosear writes a great little post on the fake Steve Jobs blog outing by the New York Times. Is Dan Lyons name mud? To continue the discussion, I’d have to say it’s not great. There are some journalistic ethics that got crossed (Jim Horton also had an interesting discussion on whether the fake Jobs blog crossed a line). And I think Forbes and Lyons are facing some tough questions:
What Apple stories has Dan written or touched during the life of the blog?
Can future Forbes’s Apple and related technology coverage really be considered objective?
Was Forbes willingness not only to keep Dan employed but to host the blog an intelligent use of social media befitting of this publication’s stature?
Will Jobs sue… in spite of the so-called parody label?
A fascinating situation.
Looks like some negative feedback is hitting Facebook within the corporate cir
