As everyone knows by know Alberto Gonzalez, a Mexican-American, resigned today under extreme pressure from the left. I am not going to discuss whether he should have resigned or not. This is a discussion I will leave up to hundreds of blogs, television networks, websites, and newspapers. Conservatives will believe he was jobbed, liberals will believe he had it coming. I would like to touch upon another possible reason the Democrats wanted him gone.

This story is a perfect example of conflicted emotions for the left. They have been clamoring for the resignation of embattled DOJ chief Alberto Gonzalez but are now likely to get the equally despised head of DHS, Michael Chertoff, taking his place. I can hear the gnashing of lib teeth already. Alberto Gonzalez was obviously out of his depth at DOJ and it is now rumored that he is finally bowing to pressure to leave. It is about damned time I think. Nevertheless, we should always be careful what we wish for as we might just get it. In this case, we are losing Gonzalez but getting Michael Chertoff, the ultra politically correct chief of DHS. This is the same person that was limiting the ability of Department of Homeland Security terror investigators to do their job by requiring them to be tolerant and understanding of radical Muslims. With a firmly pronounced lineage that's openly traceable back to Tangerine Dream, 'The Days of Mars' is an extended EP/mini-LP (delete as you see fit) comprised of four pieces that top 12 minutes each. Opening with 'Rise', Gonzalez and Russom craft a throbbing synth part that is equal parts Moroder and Eno, then leave it to mutate and incrementally accrue beats; resulting in a lucid bluster of digital intent. When Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez meets a woman he would like to spend the rest of his life with, he wants to prove it to her—or at least unofficially prove it to her. Next month Gonzalez will hold a “formal commitment ceremony” with girlfriend October Russell. The ceremony will be overseen by Chiefs fullback Tony Richardson.
“We’re not signing any papers,” Gonzalez told her, “but I wanted the world to know that I love her and want to spend my life with her. I did it the best way for me.”
Gonzalez met Russell five years ago at a restaurant owned by Dennis Rodman and they have been dating for the last two years. There’s no word on why Gonzalez is shying away from marriage, but given how the Trent Green era worked out in Kansas City I can understand why he could be afraid of making a lengthy commitment.

They voted down a no-confidence measure in Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, created by Democrats to embarass President Bush into forcing Gonzalez to resign. (I like that though, I wonder when the last time anyone in Washington got fired, they must have the lowest termination rate of any work force and also have an astronomically huge resignation rate.) The measure was voted 53 for and 38 against, with 7 republicans breaking ranks and voting among the 53. So this is what it comes down to? The Democrats knew all along that there was no wrong doing in this case, yet they are still trying to bring down Alberto Gonzalez. They tried holding hearings into this even though they knew he was innocent. This was just an attempt to see if they could catch him in a lie and take him down on a perjury charge. It worked in the Libby case, it didn’t work here.
Today they tried to hold a vote of no confidence on Alberto Gonzalez . This was just a silly, meaningless, waste of time and energy. This was an attempt to embarrass Gonzalez into resigning. They were not able to come up with any wrongdoing in which to take him down so they tried this little game.
Don’t you think their time could be better spent?

It appears as though the Democrats are losing momentum in their bid to manufacture a controversy with Alberto Gonzalez. This really is no surprise here, this whole controversy over the firing of United States attorneys was just an effort to illegitimize the whole presidency of president Bush. There was never any wrong doing, not even any evidence of wrongdoing.
"The list of accusations has mushroomed, but the evidence has not," said Lamar Smith, the senior Republican committee member. "If there are no fish in this lake, we should reel in our lines of questions, dock our empty boat and turn to more pressing issues"
Exactly, don’t the Democrats have more important issues to deal with? They do have a war to lose after all.
