Kress, Texas (ThaLunatic Daily) -- Erica Morquecho Gonzales, a 33 year old teacher’s aide at Kress High School in Kress, Texas has been indicted by a Hale County Grand Jury on a charge of improper relationship between educator and student.The Swisher County Sheriff’s Office first became aware of the allegations when they received a report that a teacher had been “messing around” with a student.Police believe that Gonsolez had sex with a male student who attended the same school on January 26, 2008. It was a foregone conclusion that the embattled Attorney General Alberto Gonzales would be leaving his post it was just a matter of when. He had lost support from almost everybody in the administration except President Bush himself. As I have said before, Alberto Gonzales was in way over his head as Attorney General. Embattled Attorney General Alberto Gonzales announced his resignation; Bush seeks new blood for last 17 months of his administration.

President Bush announced Monday that effective September 17, Alberto Gonzales will no longer be the US Attorney General. Gonzales was the first Latino to hold this position and says the he has lived “the American dream.” President Bush reluctantly accepted the resignation after meeting with Gonzales in Texas over the weekend. The President also said that Gonzales had to deal with “unfair treatment that has created harmful distraction at the Justice Department.” Solicitor General Paul Clement will take over Alberto’s job until a nominee has been con firmed by the Senate. New York Sen. Charles E. Schumer made a plea to Bush to nominate someone that both parties could work with.

While many on the Right will move to defend Gonzales, I am certainly not one of those people. Alberto Gonzales was an abject failure, who demonstrated utter incompetence. It was reported this morning that Attorney General Roberto Gonzales will resign. Moderates, liberals and even some conservatives stood up and danced at their workstations when they heard the news. Civil libertarians all over the world are drinking champagne and toasting a new day. It’s almost as satisfying as Karl Rove, but not quite the sweeping influence.
